    Women's lightweight semi-finals

India's Jaismine Jaismine needs a big round if she is going to turn this bout around.

England's Gemma Richardson slows down after those impressive opening two rounds but she must have done enough already.

    "A split decision," we're told.

"In the red corner, Gemma Richardson!"

The 21-year-old was not the favourite to win here but her tough tactics pay off.

Now the youth world champion and double European Youth gold medallist will go for a Commonwealth gold.

    England 44-50 Australia

A rare miss from Ellie Cardwell from distance gives Australia the chance to break but Imogen Allison is there in the middle of the court to win it back. Superb stuff from the late call-up to this England squad.

It is definitely a lot slower from Australia, this strategy is working much better for England but they are still finding the gaps. It's not enough to get close, yet.

Now then - a huge call from England head coach Jess Thirlby.

With 10 minutes to go on comes Eboni Usoro-Brown in place of Geva Mentor at goal keeper. Can she block Gretel Bueta out of this game?

England are chipping away but all of a sudden time seems to be moving very quickly.

Strong start by England's Richardsonpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 6 August 2022

    Women's lightweight semi-finals

England's Gemma Richardson is showing ring craft and street smart in equal measure.

Some roughhouse tactics from the 21-year-old is not seen by the referee and India's Jaismine Jaismine is feeling it.

Richardson is ahead on the judges' scorecards after the first two rounds. One more to go...

    England 38-46 Australia

We're back underway - England have the first goal of the quarter but it's slow, patient build-up from the Roses and it's going to need to be quicker if they are to turn over this deficit.

So far Australia have not been pegged back at all and even with two on one with Gretel Bueta it's still ridiculously difficult for England's defenders.

I think we needed that just going to the break. It will get the crowd lifted and everyone is doing their hob. we need all seven players to put on that defensive pressure.

Australia are tough to come up against.

    It is always retrievable.

Big final quarter to come for Englandpublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 6 August 2022

    England 36-45 Australia

    BETTER!

That is a hugely important goal for England on the whistle in the context of this game - Ellie Cardwell sinks the shot from the turnover as the buzzer goes.

It's going to take something pretty epic to come back from this, but it's not impossible. Buckle up.

'Point deducted gave Harris-Allan a mountain to climb'published at 15:40 British Summer Time 6 August 2022

    Men's bantamweight semi-finals

    Richie Woodhall
Former boxing world champion on BBC TV

Ghana's Abraham Mensah is lucky not to have been deducted a point, like young Owain Harris-Allan was. That was a little bit unfortunate from Harris-Allan, but it was a cracking contest. Full credit to both boxers for the work-rate they put into this. But I do think the point deducted really turned the contest and gave Harris-Allan a mountain to climb.

Can England's Richardson reach the final?published at 15:40 British Summer Time 6 August 2022

Celebrating your 21st birthday is always a memorable occasion. A boozy party perhaps? Maybe a trip to a European city.

How about winning a Commonwealth Games medal?

That's what England's Gemma Richardson did when she marked the special landmark by winning her quarter-final.

Now she goes against India's Jaismine Jaismine with a place in the gold-medal bout at stake.

    England 34-44 Australia

England have had ample opportunity to keep up with the world number one side. They win the ball back but they just can't look after it well enough to turn it into goals.

Helen Housby is back on at goal attack and Ellie Cardwell moves to goal shooter. Can this third shooting combination work for England?

A minute to go in this quarter and England could really do to stay within 10 goals.

'England need to play hard'published at 15:35 British Summer Time 6 August 2022

    England 32-43 Australia

    Lisa Alexander
    Former Australian netball coach

England need to play hard. They need to slow down that Australian attack and it will be interesting to see if they get that instruction at the end of the quarter.

They need to stay within 10 otherwise they will get in a zone where it will be difficult to pull back.

Australia have drawn out a 10 goal lead. This is a difficult score to come back from, England are going to need something pretty special here.

It's as you were for Australia, Gretel Bueta has been absolutely incredible in this game.

Three minutes left in this third quarter.

  17. bronze medal

Bronze medal - Wales - Owain Harris-Allanpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 6 August 2022

    Men's bantamweight semi-finals

Wales' Owain Harris-Allan goes on the attack - he has to - and tries to pin Ghana's Abraham Mensah on the ropes.

Mensah is skirting a warning for multiple infringements, but is not penalised and is able to manage the rest of the round.

That's enough for the 19-year-old to win on a split decision and go through to the final, where he will meet Northern Ireland's Dylan Eagleson.

    A brilliant bronze for 18-year-old Harris-Allan.

It just feels like this is slipping away a little.

Incredible round! Ferocious stuff from Abraham Mensah as he goes hell for leather from the bell, peppering Wales' Owain Harris-Allan with punches.

The Ghanaian takes a clean sweep of the cards in round two.

Harris-Allan needs something big in the final round...
