Scotland's gold-medal winning Para mixed pairs B2/B3 bowling team spoke to BBC Sport following their victory:

First, Melanie Innis: "Incredible. I never believed that could possibly happen. We worked hard, really hard and we've managed to win all our games. Really brilliant."

George Miller - now oldest Commonwealth Games champion in the history of the games - added: "I think Rosemary's [Lenton] quite pleased (that she has lost that title from two days ago).

"It's great, it's fantastic. A year I never dreamed of being here. I got the phone call and I nearly fell off the chair to be honest. Here we are - and where are we going to go from here?"

On competing at high levels of a sport in later years, Miller said: "It's all there to be tried. Everybody can try any sport at all. Bowls is quite easy for older people but walking football, rugby, you name it. Get out there, exercise, play games, compete - brilliant, whatever age you are."

The England duo of Sophie Tolchard and Amy Pharaoh are guaranteed at least a silver medal in the women's pairs event in lawn bowls following a 19-12 victory over New Zealand pairing Selina Goddard and Katelyn Inch.

It's Australia in the final for England, with that match starting at 08:30 BST on Saturday.

Two clear points will win this set.

The score is 21-21 but Cyprus edge ahead and they just need one more to clinch this absorbing first game.

Vanuatu come back again! The crowd are being told to clap again as in the blink of an eye, the score reaches 23-23.

What a rally!

Neither side are willing to concede but Cyprus dig the ball out of nowhere to send the Vanuatu scrambling to stay in the set.

But Manolina Konstantinou and Zoe Konstantopoulou can't close this game out and now we're at 20-20 and a time out.

We’ve had a VAR-style challenge by Cyprus who thought the ball had landed in but was called out.

There’s tension at Smithfield while the point is shown on the screen and the original decision was correct and it’s a point to Vanuatu. Queue fans frenzy and a few beach balls being launched by the crowd who are really enjoying this one.

England have won bronze in the Para lawn bowls mixed pairs B2/B3 event thanks to a hard-fought 14-11 win over Australia.

The England team consists of Alison Yearling as lead, Susan Wherry as lead director, Chris Turnbull as skip and Mark Wherry as skip director.

Miller Pata and Tini Toko are not the tallest players on the sand but the pair won Vanuatu a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in 2018.

They need to find a little something extra in Birmingham if they want to match that achievement as even when Manolina Konstantinou and Zoe Konstantopoulou mess up, they still manage to pull a valuable point out of the bag.

Cyprus lead 18-17 in the first set.

Individual all-around final

England's 17-year-old Marfa Ekimova remains top of the standings after two rotations at the Arena Birmingham.

She scored 28.000 with the ball to make a total of 56.850, 0.350 points ahead of Cyprus' Anna Sokolova in second.

Her compatriot Alice Leaper sits ninth while Scotland's Louise Christie is 11th and Wales' Elizabeth Popova and Gemma Frizelle are 10th and 13th, respectively.

Next up it's the clubs and, I expect, more banging tunes.

England's squash doubles pairing of Sarah-Jane Perry and Alison Waters will compete for a medal after beating Scotland's Georgia Adderley and Lisa Aitken in the last eight.

World silver medallists Perry, who earned singles bronze yesterday, and Waters won in straight sets 11-7 11-8.

They will face Malaysia's Rachel Arnold and Aifa Azman in the semi-finals on Sunday.

Manolina Konstantinou and Zoe Konstantopoulou of Cyprus are making Vanuatu duo of Miller Pata and Sherysyn Toko pay for their uncharacteristic mistakes and are leading this first set 12-9.

Here is what you still have to look forward to on Friday:

• Diving: Scotland's Grace Reid and Australia's Georgia Sheehan will renew their battle in the women's 1m springboard at 18:05 BST, while the men's 10m synchro features England's Olympic champion Matty Lee and partner Noah Williams at 19:23.
• Athletics: The decathlon reaches a climax with the 1500m just after 21:30, with Grenada's defending champion Lindon Victor looking to catch Australian Cedric Dubler in the javelin before then. The Women's triple jump and 3,000m steeplechase, and the men's shot put and T53/54 100m, will also be decided.
• Wrestling: There are six gold medals to be won in the first of two frenzied days of wrestling action. It's more than half a century since anyone other than India or Canada topped wrestling's medal table at a Commonwealth Games, and you can expect more of the same in Birmingham.
• Hockey: The women's competition reaches the semi-final stage at 18:00 with England taking on New Zealand before Australia face India.

Here's some more from the other half of Scotland's mixed pairs gold medal winners. Skip Robert Barr, and his director Sarah Jane Ewing, who finished fourth four years ago.

Robert Barr: "To win six out of six, you're always thinking the wheels might come off the bogey. So that was added pressure.

"The fact our own pairs [men's and women's] already won the gold medals, that set the standard as well.

"It's been a long four-and-a-half years, so I'm absolutely delighted."

Sarah Jane Ewing: "It was like a home games for us. Every bowl was getting cheered on.

"The Gold Coast was difficult with the finish we had and obviously we had limited family and friends over there, so it was brilliant to perform in front of them."

Second quarter-final is about to begin in the women's beach volley at Smithfield and this one could be a tight affair between Vanuatu and Cyprus.

Miller Pata and Sherysyn Toko are in the Vanuatu corner, Manolina Konstantinou and Zoe Konstantopoulou are the Cypriot due.

Bolton's George Ramm loses to defending Commonwealth Games champion Bajrang Punia in the men's freestyle 65kg semi-final.

Bolton brawler Ramm came agonisingly close in 2018 losing in the bronze medal match, but India's Punia showed why he is hot favourite to defend his title with a comprehensive display against his English opponent.

Ramm now prepares for the bronze medal match later.

It's half-time in today's ongoing netball action and Wales have just managed to lose that slight lead over Malawi.

They trail by two goals with Malawi shooter Mwai Kumwenda scoring all 22 of her attempts under the post.

Defender Towera Vinkhumbo has played a huge part in getting the Malawi Queens back in the game, applying pressure on Wales shooter Georgia Rowe.
