Third-wicket stand leads Australia to decent totalpublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 3 August 2022

Australia 160-2 (20 overs), Pakistan yet to bat

Australia batters Beth Mooney and Tahlia McGrath had a whole heap of fun out in the middle at Edgbaston.

The pair hit boundary after boundary in the closing stages as they piled on 141 in a third-wicket partnership, taking their team to a very decent total as Australia look to clinch their spot in the semi-finals as group winners.

McGrath came to the crease with Australia on 19-2, but hit 78 off 51 balls - assisted by Mooney's 70 from 49 - to turn the early nerves into a confident finish.

Pakistan, who are bottom of the group, will have to post their biggest score of the tournament if they are to win.

Allen of Jamaica is not even out of third gear here!

That was very impressive, someone has arrived in Birmingham in very good form.

Gaze drops Oliverpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 3 August 2022

    Men's cross-country final

Charlie Aldridge had finally managed to distance Joseph Blackmore and Cameron Orr, but he slid out on a corner and is forced to walk his bike to try and get it fixed.

Absolutely gutting. He's managed to get back on his bike but the chain is gone and he's just having to push himself along with his foot along the course.

It's between England's Blackmore and Northern Ireland's Orr for bronze!

At the front, Sam Gaze has dropped Ben Oliver and it looks like that could be the gold medal right there.

    Oh no!

    A crash for Aldridge!

His chain is off and it looks like his race is over!

Orr hanging on to Aldridge & Blackmorepublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 3 August 2022

    Men's cross-country final

Northern Ireland's Cameron Orr is beginning to struggle - but every time it looks like Charlie Aldridge and Joseph Blackmore have dropped him, he gets back on.

The bronze-medal fight is now 55 seconds behind the all-New Zealand fight for gold between Sam Gaze and Ben Oliver.

Petgrave and Adlington into finalspublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 3 August 2022

In the judo events, England's Jamal Petgrave has made it into the final of the men's 90kg and will take on Remi Feuillet of Mauritius.

Scotland's Sarah Adlington has also won her semi-final in the women's +78kg, with a victory over Abigail Paduch of Australia.

But there was disappointment for both Rhys Thompson and Harry Lovell-Hewitt of England in the men's 100kg category as they lost in the semi-finals, against Canada's Kyle Reyes and Shady Elnahas respectively.

Hudson-Smith begins medal bidpublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 3 August 2022

    Men's 400m qualifying

The final races to come on the track for the time being are the men’s 400m heats.

There are seven to come, with the runners battling for a top-three place that will guarantee them a semi-final place. The next seven fastest will join them.

So, who are the names to watch out for?

World bronze medallist Matt Hudson-Smith, from Wolverhampton, is in great form and broke the 25-year-old British record earlier this year. His world medal came after years of mental and physical health issues, and he admits to attempting suicide last year.

Joe Brier, of Wales, and Guernsey's Cameron Chalmers also feature in heat four with Hudson-Smith.

Elsewhere, Kenya's Olympic and world 800m champion Emmanuel Korir will be in heat six.

And England's Zac Shaw does the business in the second heat!

Shaw wins in 11.01 to secure his final spot, with that medal race taking place tomorrow.

    Men's cross-country final

Four laps to go in the men's mountain bike cross-country final, and it's going to be a New Zealand one-two.

But who is going to take the gold? There's still nothing to separate Sam Gaze and compatriot Ben Oliver.

Scotland's Charlie Aldridge, England's Joseph Blackmore and Northern Ireland's Cameron Orr are now about 45 seconds back and need to make sure they're not caught as they fight among themselves for bronze.

NI seek first boxing medals of Gamespublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 3 August 2022

    Women's minimumweight quarter-final

    Michael Morrow
BBC Sport NI at The NEC

We're now at the stage of these Games where it is effectively impossible to enter a competition venue without accepting at least one high five from a volunteer with one of those massive foam hands.

Six days in and they've discovered every bottleneck and hotspot where you literally cannot help but catch their eye.

Anyway, having navigated that, I'm now inside the NEC as Northern Ireland hope to secure their first two boxing medals of the Games.

NI have nine fighters in the quarter-finals who need just one more win to guarantee a medal. Up first is Antrim southpaw Nicole Clyde in the women's 45-48kg.

Directly after her is Carly McNaul, a silver medallist four years ago, looking to secure at least a bronze in the next half hour.

Two notable landmarks are reached by Australia as they look to pile on the runs.

Tahlia McGrath reaches her 50 by cracking another boundary, before knocking a single to push Australia past the 100-mark.

The run rate is around 6.5 per over and that is surely going to zip up north in the final few overs.

Time for the men’s T11/12 100m heats now. This features runners with a visual impairment and there will be two heats, with the winners advancing to final - plus the two next fastest.

First up, reigning champion Jonathan Ntutu of South Africa takes to the track.

England's Zac Shaw, who equalled his personal best of 10.89 seconds last month, goes in heat two.

England's Ama Pipi spoke to BBC Sport's Jeannete Kwakye after running 52.46 seconds and winning her 400m heat.

On Colin Jackson calling her race 'comfortable', she said: "I wanted to have an even-paced race and I think I ran pretty well.

"I want to run a bit quicker, especially in that last 150m and to be more electric.

"On the home straight, the crowd are really helping me, they are all amazing.

"I feel pretty good, I thought I'd be more tired but I'm in the flow of things and I feel alright."

England's Victoria Ohuruogu spoke to BBC Sport's Jeanette Kwakye after winning her 400m heat.

"The stadium makes such a difference!

"I feel a bit rusty but hearing the home crowd cheering at the start and at the back end just feels great.

"I saw Simwaka going off but I stuck to my race and I had a feeling that in the last 100m she would tighten up a little bit and she did. I think I judged it quite well.

"My body could be better but I'm doing it one track at a time.

"I have a few niggles but nothing serious."
