  1. WICKETpublished at 05:46 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2014

Seamer Georgia Elwiss belatedly into the attack - and she makes an almost immediate impact as after two dot balls of frustration, Lanning holes out to deep backward square leg.

  2. Aus 77-1 (Villani 28*, Lanning 22*)published at 05:46 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2014

England turn to their go-to bowler, Danielle Hazell, whose economy rate with the ball has been in contrast to her fellow bowlers. Lanning moves to 22 (from only 15 balls) with a single. "If we're going to get Villani out, we've got to do it this over," notes Katherine Brunt on TMS, but the Durham-born off-spinner only yields two more singles - she finishes with figures of 4-1-9-0.

  3. Aus 74-1 (target 102)published at 05:42 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2014

Gunn replaces Wyatt, but again England are wayward with their line as Lanning continues to strike the ball well, helping herself to two more fours either side of the wicket with a firm drive and a powerful sweep. 11 from the over. Injured England pace bowler Katherine Brunt is back in the TMS box, how England wish they could throw her on to bowl here...

"I think Danielle Wyatt has regressed. John Emburey thinks she drops her front arm so quickly that her right arm doesn't know what to do. That explains the change in length that she bowls."

  5. Aus 63-1 (Villani 26*, Lanning 12*)published at 05:39 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2014

It's still Brindle - we've not yet seen Georgia Elwiss, who's a front-line seamer, but curiously wasn't asked to bowl in the first T20 in Hobart. And at Brindle's gentle medium pace, she can't afford to offer any width with the ball - she's punished as Villani carves her third four through the covers. It's going to be Australia at a canter unless England can take wickets.

  6. Aus 56-1 (target 102)published at 05:35 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2014

So, England have an opening, but Australia are nearly halfway to their target as skipper Meg Lanning, still deputising for the injured Jodie Fields, joins Villani in the middle. Lanning pushes her first ball for two to bring the fifty up for the Southern Stars, and ones and twos are easy to come by against Wyatt, who also spins down a legside wide. Eight from the over.

  7. WICKETpublished at 05:31 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2014

Brindle to continue, but it's still easy pickings for Australia here, Villani is moving up through the gears and, in her 13th international match in all three formats, overtakes her previous highest score of 21 - but England make the breakthrough when Healy takes the aerial route, aiming over mid-wicket and picks out England's best fielder Lydia Greenway coming in off the boundary.

    Isa Guha
Ex-England seamer on BBC Test Match Special

"It's going to take dot balls and pressure for England, they have to take their chances when they come, but it looks like it might just be a poor shot from Australia that brings a wicket. It's an easy game if you're bowling full tosses."

  9. Aus 43-0 (target 102)published at 05:28 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2014

Anotehr change of bowling, off-spinner Danielle Wyatt into the attack and she opens with a Steve Smith-esque loopy full toss which Healy powers towards cow corner for two. Healy then knocks a quick single towards mid-on, Wyatt gives chase herself and is grateful that Lauren Winfield backs up a wild throw to the bowler's end - saving four potential overthrows. Healy and Villani pick up ones and twos with ease, while a misfield by Natalie Sciver grants them another extra run.

  10. Aus 35-0 (Healy 16*, Villani 17*)published at 05:25 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2014

England keep Hazell's final over up their sleeves, and turn to Arran Brindle's medium pace, but the Aussie openers are trotting along nicely. Five from the over.

  11. Aus 30-0 (target 102)published at 05:21 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2014

Jenny Gunn replaces fellow right-arm seamer Cross, Villani delicately late-cuts for four, before the Aussie pair add a couple more singles. A solid start - at this stage, England were 21-3.

  12. Aus 23-0 (Healy 12*, Villani 10*)published at 05:17 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2014

Hazell is England's leading bowler in this format, will Edwards be tempted to bowl her four overs straight through? Villani chips a single over square leg, then Healy lofts another four over Lauren Winfield at mid-off. Hazell has 0-6 from three.

  13. Aus 18-0published at 05:15 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2014

In contrast to Hazell's economy, Cross strays with her line and Villani helps herself to a four down the leg side. She moves to eight with a single to Wyatt who's the cover sweeper, then Healy punches a first-bounce four over mid-off. Two more singles, Australia are finding the gaps against Cross, who then sends down a ropey wide. Cross has 0-17 from her two overs.

  14. Aus 6-0 (target 102)published at 05:11 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2014

Hazell in for her second over, Healy is rapped on the pad trying to swat her across the line, there's an appeal which doesn't impress the umpire... Katherine Brunt on TMS thinks it's out, but the ball-tracker show it missing leg stump. Hazell whistles through the over, it's a maiden.

David: That's a disappointing total from England, hardly better than their 98 at the MCG. I know we have key players injured, but mostly bowlers. The combined firepower of Edwards, Taylor, Greenway, Brindle and Sciver should have been able to set more of a challenge. Now, Australia look certain to win and reduce their overall deficit to just two points, which is not the way things were looking a couple of weeks or so ago.

  16. Aus 6-0 (Healy 3*, Villani 3*)published at 05:09 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2014

Young Lancashire seamer Kate Cross takes the second over, Healy doubles her score with a single, and Villani lifts a two over wide mid-on as captain Charlotte Edwards gives chase. A couple more singles mean it's a better over for the Southern Stars.

  17. Aus 1-0 (target 102)published at 05:05 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2014

Hazell keeps it tight with three dot balls before Healy dabs a quick single to point. Just that one from the over.
