"It's a shame as Freddie Coleman played really well against the Sri Lanka quick bowlers. But, he's been undone by pace there. He offered a lot of blade and not a lot of feet."

The big shots keep coming, and so do the wickets. Freddie Coleman is so desperate to get off the mark that he aims an ill-advisedly aggressive shot at one angled across him from Johnson, and Michael Clarke takes an excellent tumbling catch at second slip.

Matt Machan is in good touch here. He enjoyed himself against New Zealand's battery of vaunted pacemen, and he's showing a similar liking for their Antipodean cousins. He goes to 26 with an emphatic lofted drive off Watson that bounces just once before reaching the rope at mid-on.

  5. Scotland missing Majidpublished at 04:13 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2015

Scotland are once again without their all-time leading wicket-taker Majid Haq, who was sent home early from the World Cup for sending a race-related tweet.

Skipper Preston Mommsen says the 32-year-old off-spinner still has a future with the national team, but for the time being there's no doubt where Haq is...

  6. Sco 43-3published at 04:13 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2015

Mitchell Johnson is into the attack. He's been upstaged by his junior namesake Starc so far in this tournament - he has bowled a little shorter and not benefited from the late swing that has proved so destructive for Starc. As if to prove that point, he digs in a very good short ball, getting Machan swaying. A maiden, the second of the innings.

"Australia, like all the good teams in this competition, bowl aggressively for as long as they can in an innings. That makes for far more interesting cricket."

  8. Sco 43-3 (Machan 20, Coleman 0)published at 04:09 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2015

Freddie Coleman is the new man. Machan continues to play his shots, bashing another boundary over extra-cover.

Ex-Australia pace bowler on BBC Test Match Special

"I talked about how the Scottish batsmen would be comfortable against Watson's pace and then Preston Mommsen is just bounced out there. Three days ago against Sri Lanka he looked more than comfortable against this sort of pace, but Watson does have a very good bouncer, pretty accurate."

  10. WICKETpublished at 04:05 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2015

Scotland are unravelling here. The skipper is back in the hutch after two balls, trying to be aggressive with the pull shot but beaten by the pace of a good bouncer by Watson, and he can only lollop it up in the air to Starc running back at backward point. Second wicket of the tourney for Watto.

"The key word there is control. Mitchell Starc was fast there and Calum MacLeod wasn't able to get the right placement on that shot and David Warner took a pretty sharp catch. Mitchell Starc continues to have that knack of taking regular wickets and that's what raw pace does in this game."

  12. WICKETpublished at 04:02 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2015

Live by the sword, die by the sword. MacLeod has played a good aggressive little innings here, during which he's flayed the ball through the point region on a number of occasions, but this time he gets a little too cocky and slaps one straight into the fly-paper mitts of David Warner in that position. Bonus wicket, and disappointing for MacLeod, who was looking good.

  14. India v Zimbabwe updatepublished at 04:00 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2015

Brendan Taylor, after smashing 24 from a Ravindra Jadeja over, has finally holed out for 138 from 110 balls in his final innings for Zimbabwe. He gets a few handshakes from the Indian fielders, and a standing ovation from the Eden Park crowd. Zimbabwe are 235-5 with 8.1 overs left.

  15. Sco 30-1 (MacLeod 17, Machan 12)published at 03:58 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2015

Shane Watson, a lumbering carthorse of a bowler, gets some early work. He's taken just one wicket so far in this World Cup, that of Angelo Mathews. Shot of the day so far from Machan, punching Watson down the ground for four with a lovely on-drive.

Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

"He's only a little man Matt Machan, quite a tubby little man, but he's a good player. He's fended a couple of balls away in the air early in this innings though."

  17. Sco 25-1published at 03:55 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2015

Starc makes his first real error, dragging one down, and Machan just uses the pace on the ball to ease it through the covers for his first boundary. Lovely shot.

Irked by that, Starc responds with a terrific short ball, pinning Machan like a beetle in an entomologist's display case. He lobs the ball up into the leg side off the splice, but the fielder in that exact position had just been moved. Can you believe it?

Huge lbw shout next ball, but Richard Illingworth demurs as a yorker raps Machan in front of the timbers. Australia decline to review, although replays show it looked close. Was there a hint of bat?

"Looks like Australia are going to save Mitchell Johnson to replace Starc with the breeze on his back. Pat Cummins has drawn the short straw having to run in to the wind."

  19. Sco 18-1 (MacLeod 16, Machan 2)published at 03:48 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2015

Ooh, Machan gets an early life when Cummins gets one to hold in the pitch and the batsman is early on the shot, chipping into mercifully vacant ground on the leg side. MacLeod looks more assured and he gets his third boundary off Cummins with a booming square-drive. That takes him to 12, which unbelievably is his top score of the tournament.

Cummins really has not found his rhythm yet, in stark contrast to erm, Starc. He's sending down too any wide deliveries, and despite what his unhappy record might suggest, MacLeod is too good to miss out, flaying another cut shot through the off side.
