Former Nottinghamshire player and coach Paul Johnson told BBC Radio Nottingham: "Derbyshire just don't know what to bowl to Riki Wessels at the moment."
Nottinghamshire are ahead of the rate as Riki Wessels twice dispatches Nathan Rimmington to the boundary, the second off a costly no-ball.
Shiv Thakor then gets the Wessels treatment, opening the final over of the powerplay with two further fours.
Three dots follow, but he gets a third boundary off the final ball to move to 46 off just 19 balls.
Australian all-rounder James Faulkner slams a six off Jeetan Patel as Lancashire reach the end of the 16th over with 38 runs still needed from 24 balls. This is been a lot harder than might have been expected at the start of their innings, but Faulkner, who is 23 not out, and Jordan Clark have steadied the ship with a timely stand of 39.
Chris Wood and Adam Wheater have put on 32 in four overs, but this is surely beyond Hampshire with the required rate now over 19 an over. Essex's Reece Topley is about to start his final over, with figures of 2-24 to his credit so far.
BBC Sussex's Adrian Harms on Twitter: Mark Robinson @SussexCCC says Ajmal Shahzad may be out for the season Chris Jordan 4-6 weeks @BBCSussexSport #bbccricket
That doesn't sound promising - I wonder how that will impact upon Chris Jordan's Ashes hopes?
Ashar Mahmood's stunning spell of 3-14 from his four overs ensured Surrey closed out a comfortable victory over Glamorgan in Cardiff.
England one-day opener Jason Roy hit a composed 61 for Surrey but a shocking second half of the innings meant the Welsh side were chasing a seemingly gettable 146,
Glamorgan started steadily but Mahmood helped reduce the hosts to 56-5.
And, although Wayne Parnell (24) inspired a comeback of sorts, Glamorgan fell well short with 17-year-old bowler Sam Curran impressing with three wickets late on.
"What a spectacle for the crowd, a wonderful game of cricket. To get so close to a big score, and 193 is a really big score, was a great effort. I'm very proud of the batting, especially after losing Moeen Ali first ball."
Rhodes felt the game changed with the dramatic end to the Northants innings: "To go for 61 in three overs potentially made the chase quite difficult. If we had finished off the innings a little better, we would have been chasing a more reasonable target."
"We have got our fingers crossed. He has gone off for an X-ray just to check his bone.
"He's kind of gone over a bit on his foot. He is booked in for a scan on Monday. Maybe it will be a twisted ankle and he'll be back firing for us next week.
"It was a tense one. That's our third last-ball finish of eight games, so our supporters are getting their money's worth.
"I can tell you the coach is not feeling quite the same way."
Ryan Thomas:, external The funny thing about James Fuller's ludicrously expensive over was that his first spell was 2-0-6-2. #bbccricket
If you missed it earlier, Gloucestershire's James Fuller was smashed for 34 off the penultimate over of the innings as his side were beaten by Sussex - with one ball left.
Riki Wessels goes straight on the attack, timing the ball perfectly to hit Wayne White for successive sixes and then a four.
A Michael Lumb boundary makes it 22 runs from the third over. We have a game on our hands at Derby, that's for sure.
That wasn't the hat-trick ball Ravi Bopara would have dreamed of as Chris Wood flicks it off his pads for two. It's unlikely to spark a thrilling Hampshire fightback, though. Essex are going to win this with something to spare.
Lancashire are in danger of throwing this one away as skipper Steven Croft holes out at square leg off Ateeq Javid for 15, his dismissal following that of Paul Horton, who was run out after hesitating over a second run.
With only a moderate total to defend, there is a hint of a spring in the step of the Birmingham Bears bowlers and fielders as they look to repeat their win over the same opponents in last year's final.
A choir of significantly sized ladies are performing their vocal exercises as Hampshire reach the half-way point of their innings with 147 runs still needed, and only three wickets left.
Ravi Bopara may have failed with the bat for Essex, but his second over with the ball is an incredible one as the all-rounder picks up three wickets. First, Jimmy Adams skies a catch to Tom Westley and Adam Wheater and Gareth Berg are bowled by the final two deliveries to leave Bopara on a hat-trick.
Wayne Parnell has gone, and with his wicket it looks like Glamorgan are heading for defeat against Surrey.
The Welsh side now need 43 for victory with just two wickets and 23 balls remaining.
Former Nottinghamshire player and coach Paul Johnson told BBC Radio Nottingham:
"There was no real movement of the feet there from Alex, although it looked like the ball kept down on him.
"It hit fairly low down the stump from a good length and the ball came back down the pitch, rather than the stump cartwheeling backwards."
The Outlaws' evening gets even worse as their key man Alex Hales is clean bowled by Nathan Rimmington for a golden duck. What a nightmare for the England ODI and T20 opener.
Over to you Riki Wessels.
Sussex fast bowler Ajmal Shahzad:, external "Can't believe im missing the game in Bristol. Take a bow @lukewright204! What a knock! Seriously why is he not with England!? You beauty!"
Glamorgan are still fighting.
At 60-6 after 9.5 overs chasing Surrey's 146, things looked bleak. But Wayne Parnell and Mark Wallace's steady rebuilding has given the Dragons a glimmer with five overs to go.
Wallace has just fallen, caught by Ben Foakes off Sam Curran's bowling, so wickets are running out. But with 48 needed off the final 30 balls the run rate is by no means ridiculous.
Former Nottinghamshire player and coach Paul Johnson told BBC Radio Nottingham:
"It wasn't great by Notts in the field. That's the worst I have seen them field this season, possibly the worst they have fielded for a couple of seasons.
"There was ill discipline and I felt a poor execution of plans at times in the innings.
"They didn't do too badly at other times but they have a big target to chase now."
"It feels like a win, to be honest, because we felt we were 10 to 20 runs short of a competitive total
"But we fought to save every run and took some brilliant catches, and it just goes to show you should never, ever give up."
