  1. Time to say goodbye

    Gloucestershire celebrate

So eight-time List A champions Gloucestershire have denied the soon-to-be county champions Yorkshire the chance of a double, and reached their first Lord's final since 2004 - when they beat Worcestershire.

They will face either Surrey or Nottinghamshire, who face each other at The Oval tomorrow and you can follow that with our live text commentary from 11:15 BST.

    Until then, goodbye.

  3. Post-match quotes

Gloucestershire captain and man-of-the-match Michael Klinger: "It was certainly worth the trip back. I would have felt guilty had I not come back, and I'd like to thank the club for flying me back from Australia.

"I'm going to wait around for two weeks, put myself through a fitness boot camp, have a bit of a break, play a four-day game and play in the final.

"It's fantastic for the club and the boys deserve it. I think it's our time."

  4. Post update

Yorkshire captain Alex Lees on Sky Sports: "I think we fell probably 50 or 60 runs short. We didn't execute as well as we'd have liked to and in the end we fell short.

"Ryan Sidebottom doesn't play one-day cricket anymore and we've got Jack Brooks but we went for the side that's got us through to the semi-final. We wanted to keep consistency in the team."

  7. GLOUCESTERSHIRE BEAT YORKSHIRE BY EIGHT WICKETS

Gloucestershire dropped four catches in their innings, three of them admittedly very difficult, but it did not count against them in the long run, thanks to their captain Michael Klinger.

Yorkshire tried seven bowlers, including England's Adam Lyth and two teenagers, but they just did not have the guile yo upset Klinger's composure with the bat.

He has now scored 532 One-Day Cup runs this season at an average of 132.75 and a strike rate of over 92 and Gloucestershire will be desperate to have him available for the final at Lord's on 19 September, if at all possible.

  8. Get Involved via #bbccricket

Former England wicketkeeper Geraint Jones is set to retire after the final at Lord's.

  9. GLOUCESTERSHIRE BEAT YORKSHIRE BY EIGHT WICKETS

Gloucestershire captain Michael Klinger has been his side's talisman today, and he smashes a six off Matthew Fisher over long off to give his side victory at Headingley and take his side to a first Lord's final since 2004 where they will face either Surrey or Nottinghamshire.

Yorkshire just could not break the partnership of Klinger and Marshall, who finishes with an unbeaten 78.

  10. Gloucestershire 261-2 (Klinger 131, Marshall 78)

    Target 264

Three more to win for Gloucestershire. Michael Klinger will be facing at the start of the 47th over, and could fittingly take his side home to victory.

  11. Dropped catch

    Gloucestershire 258-2 - Target 264

That sums up Yorkshire's day. Captain Alex Lees puts down a chance at mid-off from Hamish Marshall. He really should have taken that, not that it matters now.

  12. Gloucestershire 256-2 (Klinger 128, Marshall 77)

    Target 264

Huge appeal from Yorkshire, even at this late stage, as Matthew Fisher looks to have Hamish Marshall lbw, but the umpire says the ball was going down the leg-side. The 17-year-old has probably looked the best of Yorkshire's bowlers today, but they've barely looked like taking a wicket since these two came together.

  13. Gloucestershire 251-2 (Klinger 126, Marshall 74)

    Target 264

Hamish Marshall and Michael Klinger continue to go about their business efficiently, this time settling for singles instead of the boundary fireworks.

Gloucestershire just need 13 more from six overs. They can start dreaming of Lord's now, surely.

  14. Gloucestershire 246-2 (Klinger 122, Marshall 73)

    Target 264

Hamish Marshall and Michael Klinger's partnership is now worth more than 150 runs, and they have pretty much seen their team to Lord's.

Yorkshire's bowling attack - without Ryan Sidebottom, Jack Brooks and Liam Plunkett - has not been up to scratch today. Their desperation is pretty much summed up in Matthew Fisher's lbw appeal when the ball was clearly going down leg-side.

Marshall then dispatches him over the top for four and his side need 18 to win.

  15. Gloucestershire 239-2 (Klinger 120, Marshall 69)

    Target 264

Goodness me, Michael Klinger. Yorkshire have brought the field up and the Australian smashes two identical sixes straight down the ground for off young spinner Karl Carver.

This game will be over soon if he continues in that vein.

  16. Get Involved via #bbccricket

  17. Gloucestershire 225-2 (Klinger 107, Marshall 68)

    Target 264

Matthew Fisher, one of only two Yorkshire bowlers to take a wicket, is back into the attack and Hamish Marshall and Michael Klinger add seven more runs to the total.

Gloucestershire need just 39 runs to win. You can almost get that in one over, right??

  18. Gloucestershire 218-2 (Klinger 103, Marshall 65)

    Target 264

Appeal for a stumping against Hamish Marshall, but the third umpire ruled the New Zealander's foot was grounded.

We've now reached the end of the second power play. Can this pair lead the visitors home?

  19. Klinger reaches 100

    Gloucestershire 215-2 - Target 264

    Michael Klinger

Michael Klinger reaches his hundred with two runs. It's his third in the One-Day Cup and eighth in all competitions this summer. His performance looks like taking Gloucestershire to the final.

  20. Gloucestershire 212-2 (Klinger 98, Marshall 64)

    Target 264

Michael Klinger is making us wait for his century. He pushes a single to give Marshall the strike, and the former New Zealand international hits a four over mid-wicket off Steven Patterson before another boundary high over mid-on.

This is where Yorkshire's innings crumbled. Can Gloucestershire hold their nerve?

  21. Post update

    Jack Russell

Ex-Gloucestershire and England wicketkeeper on BBC Radio 5live

Quote Message: I don't think Carver has bowled that badly, but they haven't let him settle. A spinner, on this pitch, could have a key role, but Gloucestershire have played him really well.
  22. Gloucestershire 201-2 (Klinger 97, Marshall 54)

    Target 264

We've talked a lot about Michael Klinger in this innings so far, but Hamish Marshall has been equally as important in getting those important singles. He delicately guides the ball into the leg-side off Karl Carver to bring up his half century off 51 balls.

  23. Gloucestershire 194-2 (Klinger 95, Marshall 49)

    Target 264

Michael Klinger and Hamish Marshall have put their side in the box seat here, and the former brings up the 100 partnership with an easy single.

Marshall then drags takes advantage of a short ball from Steven Patterson with a four and take him to within one of his half century.

  25. Umpire review

    Gloucestershire 189-2 - target 264

Hello, we're going upstairs after Will Rhodes hits the stumps direct, but Michael Klinger is clearly in. Not out.

  26. Gloucestershire 187-2 (Klinger 92, Marshall 45)

    Target 264

Similar story as Michael Klinger drills Will Rhodes' opening delivery back past the stumps to the boundary as he moves into the 90s.

Rhodes tries a ball of full length which just misses Hamish Marshall's outside edge and he can only reflect on what might have been. Cricket can be a tough old game when things aren't going your way.

  27. Get Involved via #bbccricket

  28. Gloucestershire 180-2 (Klinger 86, Marshall 44)

    Target 264

Steven Patterson returns and Hamish Marshall effortlessly flicks his opening delivery for four behind square.

Things really are starting to look grim for the home side with the required rate below a run per over from here, and having picked up that early boundary, the two Gloucestershire batsmen content themselves with picking off easy singles.

  29. Gloucestershire 172-2 (Klinger 84, Marshall 38)

    Target 264

Decent over from Will Rhodes as just two singles come from it, and with the final delivery Hamish Marshall comes very close to playing on to his own stumps.

Gloucestershire need 92 runs from 96 balls, while Yorkshire need a break.

  30. Gloucestershire 170-2 (Klinger 83, Marshall 37)

    Target 264

Tim Bresnan is trying every sort of variation to try to get one of this pair out, including a full toss which almost hit Hamish Marshall in the chest!

Five come from the over as cries of "Yorkshire, Yorkshire..." try to lift the team, but the bowling attack is really struggling here.

  31. Gloucestershire 165-2 (Klinger 80, Marshall 35)

    Target 264

On this showing, England are perhaps fortunate Michael Klinger has never been capped for Australia. They do need an opener for their tour against Bangladesh at the end of this month, though....

He runs down the track and hits another for four off Matthew Fisher. Gloucestershire need less than 100 for victory now.

  32. Gloucestershire 158-2 (Klinger 75, Marshall 33)

    Target 264

Don't give Michael Klinger any sort of chance, Yorkshire. Tim Bresnan drops one just short of a length, and the Australian pulls to the boundary beyond a despairing Gary Ballance dive.

Remember, Klinger has come back from Australia for this game, having returned home to prepare for their domestic season.

  33. Gloucestershire 152-2 (Klinger 70, Marshall 32)

Alex Lees is rotating his bowlers and. Matthew Fisher, at just 17 years old, comes back into the attack and mirrors Bresnan's over, conceding three runs.

It's good economy from Yorkshire, but they really need a wicket.

  34. Get Involved via #bbccricket

Eyes from all over the world are on events at Headingley...

  35. Gloucestershire 149-2 (Klinger 69, Marshall 30)

    Target 264

Tim Bresnan concedes just three runs off his over, but Michael Klinger and Hamish Marshall are happy to sit tight, knowing they can attack some of the more inexperienced bowlers.

Headingley is rather quiet at the moment. Nails may be being bitten by some of the Vikings' supporters.

  36. Post update

    Richard Blakey

Ex-Yorkshire and England wicketkeeper on BBC Radio 5live

Quote Message: Yorkshire have used seven bowlers and I think that shows just how desperate Alex Lees is to get a wicket. He's turned to his most experienced bowler Tim Bresnan, hoping for his extra pace and bounce to try and break this partnership up.
  37. Gloucestershire 146-2 (Klinger 67, Marshall 29)

    Target 264

    Adam Lyth bowls

Two wides from Adam Lyth in that over, maybe we spoke too soon about his bowling ability?

Michael Klinger and Hamish Marshall once again swap singles and Yorkshire bring Tim Bresnan back into the attack. Could he be the man to turn things around?

  38. Gloucestershire 140-2 (Klinger 65, Marshall 27)

    Target 264

Hamish Marshall and Michael Klinger look so comfortable taking the singles and occasional twos, and they have reached a 50 partnership from 49 deliveries.

They really haven't been in any sort of trouble so far. Will Yorkshire bring the experience of Steven Patterson and Tim Bresnan back into the attack?

  39. Get Involved via #bbccricket

Some spectators have found a new job for Adam Lyth for England if the selectors decide they no longer want him to open the batting...

  40. Gloucestershire 135-2 (Klinger 63, Marshall 24)

    Target 264

Adam Lyth's bowling has actually looked pretty decent in this match, but an aggressive Hamish Marshall comes down the wicket, and hits the ball over extra cover for four. Seven runs from that over and Gloucestershire are well on course for their target, but they need to keep wickets intact.

  41. Gloucestershire 128-2 (Klinger 61, Marshall 19)

    Target 264

Michael Klinger and Hamish Marshall seem very happy to pick up singles and the occasional twos at the moment, taking five runs from Richard Pyrah's over.

At the midway point in their innings, Yorkshire were 136-2 before things started to crumble.

  42. Gloucestershire 123-2 (Klinger 59, Marshall 16)

    Target 264

A very tidy and astonishingly quick over from Adam Lyth, as just three runs come from it. Blink and you'll miss it cricket.

  43. Gloucestershire 120-2 (Klinger 57, Marshall 15)

    Target 264

The experienced pair at the crease have got the visitors back on track. Michael Klinger perfectly times a pull to the boundary off Richard Pyrah, but there is a brief moment of panic for Gloucestershire as Hamish Marshall doesn't connect properly and the ball bounces just in front of Jack Leaning at mid on.

England opener and very occasional spinner Adam Lyth into the Yorkshire attack now.

  45. Gloucestershire 111-2 (Klinger 51, Marshall 12)

    Target 264

Hamish Marshall, with his fine head of hair, looks like he could be a perfect partner for Michael Klinger as he collects a couple of twos before a lovely drive off young spinner Karl Carver goes to the boundary.

Richard Pyrah is being brought into the Yorkshire attack now.

  46. Get Involved via #bbccricket

  47. Gloucestershire 101-2 (Klinger 50, Marshall 3)

    Target 264

Michael Klinger has proved to be Gloucestershire's talisman in this competition, and he reaches his fifth consecutive half century in the One-Day Cup - this one off 58 balls - by pushing a single off Will Rhodes.

It goes without saying, Yorkshire will want to get the Australian out soon.

  48. Gloucestershire 98-2 (Klinger 49, Marshall 1)

    Target 264

Michael Klinger is joined in the middle by Hamish Marshall, two players with a combined 71 years between them.

Klinger continues to be aggressive and smashes youngster Karl Carver straight down the ground for a massive six, followed by a single that leaves him needing one more for a half century.

Gloucestershire need another 166 for victory.

  49. Post update

    Jack Russell

Ex-Gloucestershire and England wicketkeeper on BBC Radio 5live

Quote Message: I don't think Gareth Roderick needed to do that. He maybe showed a bit of inexperience there. That's the pressure of a semi-final and that has just given Yorkshire an unnecessary lift.
  50. WICKET Roderick (c Leaning b Rhodes 18)

    Gloucestershire 90-2 (Klinger 42)

Gareth Roderick plays a pretty loose shot straight to mid-on to give Will Rhodes his first wicket.

Jack Leaning was the man to take the catch, and his father Andy, a former York City and Sheffield United goalkeeper, would have been proud of his safe pair of hands.

    Will Rhodes
  51. Gloucestershire 88-1 (Klinger 41, Roderick 17)

    Target 264

Karl Carver's first over costs five runs and the game seems to be going through a little bit of a lull at the moment.

  52. Get Involved via #bbccricket

Who would have thought we would be enjoying cricket in bright sunshine at the beginning of September? The great British weather is completely unpredictable.

  53. Gloucestershire 83-1 (Klinger 39, Roderick 14)

An appeal for lbw against Gareth Roderick by Will Rhodes, but the umpire is not interested in the slightest and it seems like it was going over the top.

But all Gloucestershire get from the over is one single. The change in bowlers from the experienced duo of Steven Patterson and Tim Bresnan to Will Rhodes and 17-year-old Matthew Fisher seems to have paid off.

However, Fisher is about to be replaced by 19-year-old spinner Karl Carver, in for Adil Rashid, who's on England duty.

  54. Gloucestershire 82-1 (Klinger 39, Roderick 13)

With the Gloucestershire run rate dropping to just four an over, Michael Klinger hits a lovely shot out to long-off, which only bounces once before going over the ropes.

He also adds two more from Matthew Fisher, who has nevertheless looked impressive so far.

  55. Post update

Yesterday's incident involving Ben Stokes and Mitchell Starc prompting a lot of comment today - but the England all-rounder decides discretion is the best policy...

  56. Gloucestershire 76-1 (Klinger 33, Roderick 13)

A very solid over from Will Rhodes as he allows just three singles off his deliveries. The runs are beginning to dry up for the visitors at Headingley.

  57. Gloucestershire 73-1 (Klinger 32, Roderick 12)

    Michael Klinger

Matthew Fisher is again economical, with just three coming off his latest over.

Remember that Yorkshire have not picked Ryan Sidebottom and Jack Brooks for this game - a duo that have a combined total of 89 wickets in the Championship.

They have decided to stick with the team that got them here. Will that faith prove costly?

  58. Gloucestershire 70-1 (Klinger 31, Roderick 10)

Number three batsman Gareth Roderick gets in on the act now, moving slightly to off to flick two deliveries down the leg-side off Will Rhodes for his first boundaries of the day.

He punches a single off the final delivery as the visitors collect 10 from that over.

  59. Gloucestershire 60-1 (Klinger 30, Roderick 1)

Well that was a fine over from young Matthew Fisher, with just three runs coming off it.

But remember Gloucestershire's key man Michael Klinger is still out there.

  60. Gloucestershire 57-1 (Klinger 29, Roderick 0)

Just a single off Will Rhodes' first over of the day as he replaces Steven Patterson, with Gareth Roderick the new batsman at the crease.

Yorkshire must take advantage of this position now following Gloucestershire's positive start to their innings.

  61. Get Involved via #bbccricket

There is certainly a lot of love out there for young Matthew Fisher.

  62. Post update

    Jack Russell

Ex-Gloucestershire and England wicketkeeper on BBC Radio 5live

Quote Message: I'm not sure if Chris Dent was trying to work that to third man but credit to the bowler, it was perfect line and length and a deserved wicket.
  63. WICKET Dent (b Fisher 28)

    Gloucestershire 56-1 (Klinger 27)

Despite his youthful looks, Matthew Fisher has played seven One-Day Cup games so far this summer with an average of 27.8, and you can see why Yorkshire have shown such faith in him.

After giving up four singles from his first five deliveries of the over, the youngster clean bowls Chris Dent for the first breakthrough of the innings, the left-hander failing to go far enough forward.

Gloucestershire take the second powerplay straight away.

  64. Gloucestershire 52-0 (Klinger 26, Dent 25)

From a Yorkshire point of view, that's a bit more like it. No boundaries off Steven Patterson's fifth over of the day, just four singles.

We have a change at the other end as 17-year-old Matthew Fisher replaces Tim Bresnan.

  65. Gloucestershire 48-0 (Klinger 24, Dent 23)

    Tim Bresnan bowls

Chris Dent has clearly seen what his partner is doing and wants a piece of the action. He clips Tim Bresnan over mid-on for four, before another boundary with a superb cover drive.

The Vikings really need to get one of this pair out soon.

  66. Get Involved

  67. Gloucestershire 38-0 (Klinger 24, Dent 13)

No changes yet in the Yorkshire attack. They are relying heavily on Steven Patterson and Tim Bresnan with teenagers Karl Carver and Matthew Fisher both in the side.

After five tight deliveries from Patterson, Michael Klinger shows what he's about by comfortably hitting him back down the ground for four.

This is a very solid start for the visitors.

  68. Gloucestershire 34-0 (Klinger 20, Dent 13)

Chris Dent, after mis-hitting the first ball of the over from Tim Bresnan for a fortunate two runs, then hits a lovely cover drive to add three more.

From the final ball of the over, Dent punishes an overpitched one, smashing it for four down the ground.

  69. Post update

    Richard Blakey

Ex-Yorkshire and England wicketkeeper on BBC Radio 5live

Quote Message: The introduction of David Willey to this Yorkshire side will hopefully bring something to the Twenty20 side where the Vikings have clearly been struggling.

And presumably the One-Day Cup side as well.

  70. Gloucestershire 23-0 (Klinger 19, Dent 4)

Michael Klinger is looking like a man in prime form as he hits Steven Patterson's first ball of the over straight over mid-on for four. He was so pleased with that he just watches it roll to the rope, rather than run.

The Australian strikes another boundary through the covers before getting two from a careless mis-field at mid-on from Alex Lees.

  71. Gloucestershire 13-0 (Dent 4, Klinger 9)

Michael Klinger is on the offensive, and he adds three runs off Tim Bresnan. But the England bowler goes after Chris Dent, who comes close again to nicking the ball behind.

  72. Gloucestershire 9-0 (Dent 3, Klinger 6)

Michael Klinger is having a sterling year in the One-Day Cup, and he brings up his 400th run from seven matches with a four off Steven Patterson. A solid start from Gloucestershire.

  73. Gloucestershire 3-0 (Dent 2, Klinger 1)

Huge appeal from Tim Bresnan's first ball of the day to Michael Klinger, but it just appears to be going over the bails. It's a tight rest of the over from Bresnan, with only a single conceded.

Incidentally, he might not playing in the game but Liam Plunkett is in the crowd supporting his Yorkshire team-mates, after his one-day appearance for England against Australia on Saturday.

  74. Gloucestershire 2-0 (Dent 2, Klinger 0)

Chris Dent almost feathers the second ball from Steven Patterson to the wicketkeeper, but the ball just missed the egde of the bat, and Dent composes himself to hit two runs to get off the mark.

  75. We're underway

Everything is set at Headingley and Gloucestershire are out to bat. Chris Dent will face Steven Patterson with the new ball.

  76. First-innings recap

    Adam Lyth watches his shot

For those of you just joining us, here's a recap of the Yorkshire innings.

Adam Lyth, who struggled fruitlessly against Australia in the Ashes this summer, hit a masterful 96 off 88 balls to get Yorkshire off to a flyer.

But after he fell the middle order struggled for runs, with only Gary Ballance, Jonny Bairstow and Tim Bresnan making any sort of meaningful contributions to leave Gloucestershire win 264 to win.

We also can't forget to mention Liam Norwell dropping an absolute dolly of a catch off Bairstow, seemingly celebrating a tad too early.

    Gettable? We'll soon find out.

  77. Looking back

This isn't the first semi-final in which Yorkshire and Gloucestershire have faced each other. Back in 2004 they did so in the C&G Trophy at Bristol.

Yorkshire also batted first on that occasion, making 243-6 from 50 overs, thanks mainly to an unbeaten 80 by Australian Darren Lehmann, now coach of the Australia national team.

It was not good enough, however, as New Zealander Craig Spearman hammered 143 not out from 122 balls to see Gloucestershire home with 3.5 overs to spare. They went on to win the trophy at Lord's, beating Worcestershire by eight wickets at Lord's, their last piece of silverware.

Of course, Gloucestershire have a New Zealander in their current side - will Hamish Marshall be the match-winner at Headingley?

    Craig Spearman
  78. Post update

But that's tomorrow, coming up we have the second half of today's match, with Gloucestershire looking to chase down a target of 264 and reach their first Lord's final since 2004.

We will be back with you in time for the start of their reply to Yorkshire's 263-9, when Phil Shepka will be describing events at Headingley.

  79. Notts make a change

But injury has affected Nottinghamshire's plans for Monday's semi-final at The Oval...

  80. Second semi-final

Tomorrow it will be the turn of Surrey and Nottinghamshire at The Oval and we'll be bringing you full match coverage from about 11:15 BST.

Surrey have named their squad for the match, it is: Batty(capt), Ansari, Burke, Burns, S Curran,T Curran, Davies, Dernbach, Dunn, Foakes, Kapil, Sangakkara, Wilson.

  81. Get Involved

So, 263-9 by Yorkshire - is that going to be enough? They'll certainly need to get rid of Gloucestershire skipper Michael Klinger early - he's scored almost 400 runs in the One-Day Cup this summer, with two hundreds and two half centuries.

Let us know what you think using #bbccricket on Twitter.

  82. END OF INNINGS Yorkshire 263-9

It is a disappointing end to the Yorkshire innings after Adam Lyth gave the Vikings an excellent start with a supreme 96 off 88 balls - including 10 fours and a six.

However, after the England opener fell, the hosts struggled to find their range again with the Gloucestershire bowlers, in particular Benny Howell, coming back brilliantly.

Liam Norwell's dropped catch off Jonny Bairstow looked to be the turning point of the match but the 23-year-old held his nerve and Yorkshire lost 95-6 in the last 20 overs to post what looks like a below-par first-innings score, when they looked on course for more than 300.

  83. WICKET Patterson (run out 9)

    Yorkshire 263-9 (Fisher 9)

Steven Patterson is run out off the final ball of the innings as he smacks David Payne down the ground and indecision between Patterson and Matthew Fisher over taking a second run see's the former lose his wicket.

  84. Yorkshire 258-8 (Patterson 8, Fisher 5)

Benny Howell is in no mood to have his figures spoiled by Yorkshire's tail, allowing just three runs from his final over to finish with figures of 10-0-37-3. An excellent effort from the seamer.

  85. Yorkshire 255-8 (Patterson 6, Fisher 2)

Just five off David Payne's eighth over as Steven Patterson and new batsman Matthew Fisher struggle to find the boundary rope. The pair will be hoping to produce some lusty blows from the last two overs to help Yorkshire post at least 265-270.

  86. Yorkshire 250-8 (Patterson 4, Fisher 1)

Yorkshire reach the 250 mark, but it is another good over for Gloucestershire as just two runs are yielded and another vital Yorkshire wicket is picked up. The visitors will have done brilliantly to keep the hosts to below 300 here, especially when you consider the dropped catches early in the innings.

  87. WICKET Pyrah (c Klinger b Smith 1)

    Yorkshire 249-8 (Patterson 4)

It's all going wrong for Yorkshire as Richard Pyrah needlessly attempts to drive Tom Smith over extra cover only to pick out Michael Klinger, who had just brought his spinner back on. The Gloucestershire captain can do no wrong right now.

  88. Yorkshire 248-7 (Pyrah 1, Patterson 3)

A moment of inspiration from Michael Klinger then as the dangerous Tim Bresnan goes. New man Steven Patterson take three runs from the last two balls of David Payne's over.

  89. Post update

    Richard Blakey

Ex-Yorkshire and England wicketkeeper on BBC Radio 5live

"Bresy was looking well set, he went for a big drive and must have hit it high up the bat. Yorkshire haven't got much experience to come now.

"I think they'll now have to be happy with five or six an over from here, try to get up towards 280 and settle for that."

  90. WICKET Bresnan (c Klinger b Payne 27)

    Yorkshire 245-7 (Pyrah 1)

Brilliant captaincy from Michael Klinger as he brings back David Payne, who immediately gets rid of Tim Bresnan as the Yorkshireman sends the ball straight to Gloucestershire captain at extra cover. Simple catch and a big wicket.

  91. Yorkshire 245-6 (Bresnan 27, Pyrah 1)

This is becoming an excellent cameo from Tim Bresnan, who skews the ball between backward point and short third man for another boundary.

  92. Yorkshire 238-6 (Bresnan 20, Pyrah 1)

Tim Bresnan of Yorkshire in action

The pressure is on Tim Bresnan now to get Yorkshire up to a competitive total and he duly strikes Liam Norwell for consecutive fours to release the shackles. It's a good over for Yorkshire as 11 runs come from it.

  93. Yorkshire 227-6 (Bresnan 10, Pyrah 0)

Yorkshire have managed only 46 runs in the last 11 overs and have lost three wickets with Gloucestershire fighting back really well after the early onslaught from Adam Lyth. Richard Pyrah is the new man at the crease with just two runs coming off Benny Howell's eighth over.

    Richard Blakey

"Gloucestershire are keeping in touch, chipping away, and a couple of lads have spooned catches back to the bowler, which makes you think that when the ball gets older it just stops on the pitch a little bit."

  95. WICKET Ballance (c & b Howell 27)

    Yorkshire 226-6 (Bresnan 10)

Benny Howell catches out Gary Ballance

Brilliant from Benny Howell, who picks up his third wicket of the innings, as a frustrated Gary Ballance closes his bat face too early and gives the simplest of catches back to Howell, who collects his third wicket.

  96. Yorkshire 225-5 (Ballance 27, Bresnan 9)

Yorkshire will surely still be looking for a score of over 300, but the Gloucestershire bowlers have done excellently to restrict the number of scoring opportunities and boundaries since Jonny Bairstow was dismissed. Just three singles added to the total with eight overs of the innings left.

  97. Yorkshire 222-5 (Ballance 25, Bresnan 7)

Gary Ballance in action for Yorkshire

Five fielders are now allowed outside the circle for the final 10 overs, giving the bowlers a bit more support.

The impressive Benny Howell returns and Gary Ballance and Tim Bresnan can manage only a single each off the right-arm seamer.

  99. Yorkshire 220-5 (Ballance 25, Bresnan 6)

Tim Bresnan is straight on the offensive as he swings the willow and sends Liam Norwell for two boundaries, although the first was given as leg-byes with the ball drifting down leg. The second definitely came off his bat as he dispatched the ball up and over mid-wicket.

  100. Yorkshire 210-5 (Ballance 24, Bresnan 1)

Gloucestershire are reeling in Yorkshire's run-rate by picking up regular wickets. Just two comes off Jack Taylor's final over, including the wicket as he finishes with figures of 10-0-46-1. New batsman Tim Bresnan will be looking to get Yorkshire back on target for 300.

  102. WICKET Rhodes (c Fuller b Taylor 4)

    Yorkshire 208-5 (Ballance 23)

    James Fuller celebrates

Will Rhodes' uncomfortable time at the crease comes to the end as he punches Jack Taylor down the ground and into the hands of a running James Fuller. It was a relatively simple catch and Yorkshire are crumbling a little.

The familiar figure of Tim Bresnan is coming to the crease in Rhodes' stead.

  103. Yorkshire 208-4 (Ballance 23, Rhodes 4)

Will Rhodes cannot quite attune himself to Liam Norwell's line and length as just two singles come off his sixth over. This is a good comeback from Gloucestershire.

  105. Yorkshire 206-4 (Ballance 22, Rhodes 3)

A quick, almost effortless, over from Jack Taylor leaks just four singles and Will Rhodes looks to get his eye in.

  106. Yorkshire 200-4 (Ballance 20, Rhodes 1)

Will Rhodes is the new man at the crease as Gary Ballance tucks the ball through midwicket for a couple to bring up Yorkshire's 200.

The hosts will probably be looking to motor now to get as high a score on the board as possible.

  108. WICKET Bairstow (lbw Norwell 34)

    Yorkshire 198-4 (Ballance 18)

Liam Norwell has his reprieve as he traps Jonny Bairstow plumb in front with a fuller ball that the England player misses. It's all smiles for the Gloucestershire bowler now. He will be mightily, mightily relieved by that.

  109. Yorkshire 197-3 (Bairstow 34, Ballance 17)

Liam Norwell is being given a bit of grief on the boundary edge by the Yorkshire fans as he fumbles a simple pick-up to allow Jonny Bairstow and Gary Ballance to run in an easy two off Jack Taylor. That drop could be so costly for Gloucestershire.

  110. Post update

    Richard Blakey

"It's very, very disappointing. It was such an easy catch as well, and all of a sudden Jonny Bairstow has been reprieved and has the chance to crack on with his innings. He looks pretty well set and Gloucestershire would have been elated to get him out at that stage."

  111. Dropped catch

    Yorkshire 192-3 (Bairstow 34, Ballance 13)

Liam Norwell reacts after dropped catch

Liam Norwell is brought back into the attack and the right-arm medium pacer has had a moment of madness. Jonny Bairstow chips the ball straight back to the 23-year-old for the simplest of caught-and-bowled dismissals but as he looks to throw the ball up in celebration he lets it slip out of his hands. Norwell has his head in hands and looks distraught.

It brings back memories of Herschelle Gibbs during South Africa's 1999 World Cup game against Australia and it is a massive let off for Bairstow.

  112. Watson quits Test cricket

    Shane Watson

In case you missed the news earlier on, Australia all-rounder Shane Watson has retired from Test cricket.

This is what he's had to say about it:

"I announce my retirement from Test cricket today with a heavy heart.

“Playing for my country has always been an absolute privilege, and there is no more challenging environment than Test cricket.

“I have given my all to be the best I can be, physically, technically and mentally, and while I have not always achieved the personal goals that I set myself in Test cricket, to have played over 50 Tests and to have captained my country is more than I ever dreamed of."

  113. Yorkshire 190-3 (Bairstow 33, Ballance 12)

A short ball from James Fuller is duly dispatched to the boundary ropes by Jonny Bairstow. The Gloucestershire bowlers continue to struggle with their lines as Yorkshire tick along.

  114. Yorkshire 181-3 (Bairstow 26, Ballance 10)

Brilliant shot from Jonny Bairstow as he sends spinner Tom Smith straight back over his head for a maximum. There was a glint of worry in his eye but the powerful shot cleared the man at long-on.

Yorkshire are back on course after a bit of a wobbly spell.

  115. Yorkshire 173-3 (Bairstow 19, Ballance 9)

    Jonny Bairstow in action

Yorkshire, who look set to wrap up the Division One title next week, have never won two trophies in the same year.

Jonny Bairstow and Gary Ballance eke five singles off James Fuller's over as they keep the score ticking over nicely.

  116. Yorkshire 168-3 (Bairstow 17, Ballance 6)

Gary Ballance announces himself to the Gloucestershire bowlers as he reverse-sweeps Tom Smith through backward point for a boundary. 20 overs to go.

  117. Yorkshire 160-3 (Bairstow 15, Ballance 0)

The end of one England player brings yet another to the crease for Yorkshire as Gary Ballance strides on the Headingley pitch. It is a brilliant over from James Fuller as he loses just one run and takes the vital wicket of Adam Lyth.

  118. Post update

    Richard Blakey

Ex-Yorkshire and England wicketkeeper on BBC Radio 5live

"It was a brilliant innings and he's abolutely livid with himself, he's so disappointed not to get to three figures. It wasn't a great ball, it wanted hitting, to be honest."

  119. WICKET Lyth (c Payne b Fuller 96)

    Yorkshire 159-3

David Payne celebrates wicket of Adam Lyth

A great knock from Adam Lyth comes to an agonising end as he falls four runs short of his century. The England opener went for a pull shot and the ball skewed high up in the air off a top edge and David Payne takes a good catch running in from long leg.

  120. Yorkshire 159-2 (Lyth 96, Bairstow 14)

The good work the Gloucestershire players had done to try to restrict the scoring is being undone by some great running between the wicket by Adam Lyth and Jonny Bairstow. They take a couple of singles and twos off Tom Smith to keep the score ticking over.

  121. Yorkshire 152-2 (Lyth 92, Bairstow 11)

Thank you, Paul. Yorkshire look set for a reasonably good total here as the run-rate approaches 5.5.Jonny Bairstow continues to look in fine form as he takes James Fuller for a couple of twos and a well-placed boundary down to long leg.

  122. Yorkshire 141-2 (Lyth 90, Bairstow 3)

Tom Smith enters the fray with his slow left-arm and is lucky to get away with a single as he sends down a full toss to Bairstow. Lyth dabs down for one to move into the 90s, but that's a decent start by Smith.

And now, I'm going to leave you in the capable hands of Kalika Mehta for the next part of the match...

  123. Yorkshire 136-2 (Lyth 88, Bairstow 1)

Jonny Bairstow attempts a reverse sweep but gets the timing badly wrong and is fortunate to make some contact to avert the possibility of an lbw shout.

Perhaps a little early in his innings to be trying that stroke, but Bairstow isn't a player lacking in confidence - and no wonder, given how many runs he's scored in county cricket this season.

  124. Yorkshire 135-2 (Lyth 87, Bairstow 1)

Adam Lyth has had enough of this and deposits Jack Taylor's opening delivery into the crowd at deep mid-wicket for the first six of the day. Shot, sir.

  125. Post update

    Jack Russell

Ex-Gloucestershire and England wicketkeeper on BBC Radio 5live

Quote Message: Jack Leaning has played the penalty for trying to play across the line. Bairstow has been in great form this season and this is a key partnership for Yorkshire.
  126. Yorkshire 129-2 (Lyth 81, Bairstow 1)

Jonny Bairstow is away with a single to mid-wicket and Adam Lyth picks up one to end the over, but that's another good one for Gloucestershire - and for Howell, who now has 2-23.

  127. Leaning (lbw Howell 8)

    Yorkshire 127-2 (Lyth 80)

    Jack Leaning is dismissed

Jack Leaning plays around a straight ball from Benny Howell and that's a second scalp for the Gloucestershire seamer. Suddenly, Yorkshire are losing a bit of zip. What can England's Jonny Bairstow do about it?

  128. Yorkshire 126-1 (Lyth 79, Leaning 8)

Good running by Adam Lyth as he drives out to extra cover after advancing down the pitch and picks up a second as the throw comes in from the deep. Jack Taylor's off-spin is certainly giving him something to think about, though, and is beaten in the flight by the final ball which he manages to chop for a single.

  129. Yorkshire 120-1 (Lyth 74, Leaning 7)

Gloucestershire managing to exert a bit of restraint on the scoring rate here. Suddenly, the fours aren't flowing for Adam Lyth. Well bowled Benny Howell as just three come from that over.

  130. Yorkshire 117-1 (Lyth 73, Leaning 5)

My guess is Yorkshire will only be satisfied with something in excess of 270, but for once they are becalmed as Jack Taylor only gives two runs away from his latest over of off-spin - 5-0-23-0 so far from the Banbury-born 23-year-old.

Yorkshire may be on their way towards a total of more than 300. Would that be enough to see them over the line and into the final at Lord's?

Send your thoughts our way via #bbccricket

  132. Yorkshire 115-1 (Lyth 72, Leaning 4)

Jack Leaning, understandably, wants to have a look at the bowling, but clips the final delivery of Benny Howell's latest over through mid-wicket for two. There is very little in the pitch for the Gloucestershire attack, so what sort of total will Yorkshire be looking for?

  133. Yorkshire 112-1 (Lyth 71, Leaning 2)

Gareth Roderick isn't having a great time of it behind the stumps. Jack Taylor turns an off-break between bat and pad as new batsman Jack Leaning props forward, but Roderick fails to lay a glove on it, conceding four byes for the second time.

There is another mis-field in the deep as Lyth drives past mid-off, but this time Gloucestershire get away with just a single.

  134. WICKET Lees (c and b Howell 21)

    Yorkshire 104-1 (Lyth 68, Leaning 1)

Finally, the shackles are broken by Alex Lees. A slower ball by Benny Howell and Lees waits for it before lofting it effortlessly down to long off for his first boundary, taking his side's total into three figures.

But that is Lees' final scoring stroke as he gives a straightforward return catch to the bowler. Finally, Gloucestershire have held onto one.

Jack Leaning is the new batsman and is immediately off the mark with a single to mid-on.

As Yorkshire look to build a very healthy total, former England captain and proud Yorkshireman Michael Vaughan has some insight for us.

    Thanks, Michael.

  136. Yorkshire 99-0 (Lyth 68, Lees 17)

It really is proving a struggle for Alex Lees. Two dropped catches, and still no boundary from the Yorkshire captain. A tidy over by spinner Jack Taylor, just five runs from it.

  137. Yorkshire 94-0 (Lyth 67, Lees 13)

A delightful late dab brings Adam Lyth another boundary, but then another chance goes begging for Gloucestershire as Alex Lees sweeps and Liam Norwell puts down a tough chance to his left at short fine leg.

  138. Yorkshire 88-0 (Lyth 62, Lees 12)

Adam Lyth misses with an ugly smear across the line to Jack Taylor's opening delivery, but the ball runs away for four through wicketkeeper Gareth Roderick's legs. Taylor is shown a little more respect for the remainder of the over, with just ones and twos added to the score.

  139. Yorkshire 79-0 (Lyth 58, Lees 11)

It's a double change by Gloucestershire as Benny Howell becomes the fifth bowler called on by skipper Michael Klinger.

He has a slingy sort of action which probably wouldn't win any plaudits from cricket aesthetes, but it's a decent start by the medium-pacer, with just four from the over.

  140. Yorkshire 75-0 (Lyth 56, Lees 10)

Maybe a touch of spin will give Yorkshire something to think about. Jack Taylor is handed the ball, but the first time he strays in line and Adam Lyth rocks onto the back foot and cuts for four behind point.

  142. Yorkshire 68-0 (Lyth 51, Lees 8)

    Adam Lyth celebrates his 50

And there's Adam Lyth's half century with a pull for two from a short delivery by David Payne. It's taken him only 41 balls. Gloucestershire need to get rid of him in the very near future or he could be the man to see Yorkshire to a big total.

  143. Yorkshire 64-0 (Lyth 48, Lees 7)

This is only Adam Lyth's second appearance in the One-Day Cup this season and he is gifted two runs by a poor mis-field at mid-wicket before dabbing a short-of-a-length delivery from Liam Norwell down to third man for a single to end the over.

  144. Post update

    Jack Russell

  145. Yorkshire 60-0 (Lyth 45, Lees 6)

So that's two dropped catches so far by Gloucestershire, both of them tough ones - how costly will they prove? David Payne continues and finally Lyth's judgment of line and length errs as he attempts another flashing drive but sees the ball just miss the outside edge of his bat.

Quote Message: You can see Adam Lyth is quality player, he has shown that in the last couple of years for Yorkshire. Unfortunately for one reason or another he didn't score the runs he wanted to during the Ashes series. That can happen at international level, especially against quality bowlers like the Aussies.
  147. Yorkshire 59-0 (Lyth 45, Lees 5)

After his let-off from the previous delivery, Alex Lees slices away for three and partner Adam Lyth then collects his eight four so far as Yorkshire maintain their momentum.

  148. Dropped catch

    Yorkshire 52-0 (Lyth 41, Lees 2)

Alex Lees attempts a flashing drive off Liam Norwell, but Michael Klinger is unable to hang onto a difficult diving chance to his left at slip.

  149. Yorkshire 51-0 (Lyth 40, Lees 2)

A leg glance by Adam Lyth keeps the boundaries flowing for Yorkshire and takes their total to 50. No sign of a four yet from Alex Lees, who is twice beaten by David Payne as he attempts first an off-drive and then a pull shot to a delivery which isn't really short enough.

Following on from the earlier news about Shane Watson's retirement from Test cricket, Australia coach Darren Lehmann and spinner Nathan Lyon have passed on their congratulations.

Meanwhile Test Match Special producer Adam Mountford has had his say, with a little nudge to Watson's reputation for appealing against lbw decisions...

  151. Yorkshire 46-0 (Lyth 35, Lees 2)

First bowling change by Gloucestershire as Liam Norwell comes into the attack. His opening delivery costs four leg-byes off Adam Lyth's thigh pad and the left-hander then clubs him away emphatically over mid-wicket for a boundary. Gone are Lyth's cares and woes from the Test series in Australia, looks like he's enjoying himself out there.

  152. Yorkshire 37-0 (Lyth 30, Lees 2)

Strange to see former England wicketkeeper Geraint Jones fielding at long leg, but it's just as well he is as David Payne strays onto Adam Lyth's pads, only for Jones to keep Yorkshire to a single.

Alex Lees is still to find his timing and that's a much better over for the men for Gloucestershire, with just one run off it.

  153. Yorkshire 36-0 (Lyth 29, Lees 2)

James Fuller starts his third over and is greeted with a lofted drive by Adam Lyth which runs away for four, the Yorkshire opener holding the position to emphasise how satisfied he is with the stroke.

Lyth repeats the dose from the next delivery with a superbly-timed drive along the deck through extra cover, and then shows he can do it off the back foot too as Fuller concedes 14 from the over.

  154. Yorkshire 22-0 (Lyth 16, Lees 2)

A much tighter over from David Payne yields only a couple of singles, but Yorkshire will be satisfied with their start so far.

  156. Shane Watson retires from Test cricket

We'll take you away from the action at Headingley for just one moment as we've got some big breaking news for you - Australia's Shane Watson has called time on his Test career with immediate effect.

The 34-year-old, who sustained a calf injury in Saturday's one-day victory over England, played 59 Tests for Australia, scoring 3,731 runs and taking 75 wickets.

But he only played the first Ashes Test in Cardiff this summer before being replaced by Mitchell Marsh.

More on that when we get it.

  157. Yorkshire 20-0 (Lyth 15, Lees 1)

Yorkshire skipper Alex Lees hasn't seen much of the strike so far, but he is off the mark with a single to third man. After a prolific season in 2014, the 22-year-old has found runs harder to come by this summer. He has only managed one century in all competitions so far - but will today be his day?

Lyth has a slice of luck off the final ball as Howell leaps to try and pull off a one-handed catch at point, but can't hold onto a difficult chance.

One Yorkshireman who isn't playing today is England's Joe Root, but he still has a message for his team-mates...

There's a touch of early swing for left-armer David Payne, but he overpitches and Lyth cracks the ball away through the covers for four.

The final ball of the over is wide outside the off stump and Lyth slices over the in-field, but is denied another boundary by the fielder at deep backward point.

How do you feel about Lyth? Is his time up in the England Test squad, or should the selectors keep faith with him for the upcoming series against Pakistan in the UAE? Let us know via #bbccricket

  160. Yorkshire 8-0 (Lyth 5, Lees 0)

Adam Lyth had a miserable time for England in the Ashes series against Australia - at least from a personal form point of view - but he's soon under way with a boundary, deflecting James Fuller's second delivery down to third man.

Fuller has taken 12 wickets in the competition for Gloucestershire to help them reach the semi-finals, but his radar is off as he gives away three wides down the leg-side in the first over.

  163. One-day pedigree

Yorkshire and Gloucestershire are no strangers to lifting silverware at Lord's, but it has been a few years since either team did so.

The Tykes have won four List A trophies (why do they call anything played over 40, 50, 55 or 60 overs List A?), the most recent in 2002.

Gloucestershire, meanwhile, were arguably county cricket's pre-eminent one-day side around the turn of the century, with six of their eight victories in Lord's finals coming between 1999 and 2004.

  164. No overseas star for Tykes

Batting starMichael Klingeris likely to be a key figure for Gloucestershire in today's contest, but as you can see from the teams Yorkshire must manage without an overseas star in their ranks asGlenn Maxwellis in Australia's one-day squad, andAaron Finchhas now been called up to join him as a replacement for injured David Warner.

Maxwell has been a mainstay with the bat for the White Rose county during their One-Day Cup campaign thus far, scoring 312 runs, including a superlative111 off 76 balls against Worcestershire. So what impact will having neither Maxwell nor Finch available have on Yorkshire's chances?

  165. Toss

Gloucestershire have won the toss and opted to field first. Their team has no major surprises, but Yorkshire have been refused permission by England to include Liam Plunkett and Adil Rashid. It means teenagers Karl Carver and Matthew Fisher will be part of their bowling attack.

The White Rose do, however, have plenty of England quality in their ranks with Adam Lyth, Gary Ballance, Jonny Bairstow and Tim Bresnan all in the line-up.

Yorkshire:  Lees (capt), Lyth, Leaning, Bairstow, Ballance, Rhodes, Bresnan, Patterson, Pyrah, Carver, Fisher.

Gloucestershire:  Dent, Klinger (capt), Roderick, Marshall, Howell, Jones, Taylor, Fuller, Smith, Payne, Norwell.

Gloucestershire won through afteran exciting battle with Hampshireat Bristol, coming out on top by four wickets with six balls remaining in a match reduced to 34 overs each, Australian Michael Klinger top-scoring with 87.

Yorkshire batted first in their quarter-final against Essex, and a score of 252-9 proved good enough as they progressedwith a 20-run victory.
