    SA 24-1

Has Suranga Lakmal borrowed somebody else's trousers? Those are the shortest strides I've ever seen in international sport - a substantial acreage of white sock visible, the hem flapping forlornly at mid-shin height like a flag at half-mast. Amla, considerably more stylish, whips the bowler through mid-on for four. But he gets a life off the last ball! Aerial to mid-off, Vandersay leaps full length but it doesn't stick in his palm. Would have been a stunner.

  2. SA 16-1 (Amla 6, Du Plessis 1)published at 3 overs

An early bowling change from Sri Lanka as Chandimal looks to Rangana Herath to apply some pressure. He races through an over for the loss of only one run, and suddenly South Africa are realising that this chase may not be quite the doddle that it seemed.

"De Kock almost set off straight away, Amla hadn't made his mind up, but as soon as De Kock saw Dilshan pick the ball up, he knew he was long gone."

De Kock run out (Dilshan) 9 (SA 15-1)

That's the early wicket Sri Lanka needed! Amla pushes into the off side, De Kock is halfway down, Dilshan swoops and nails the timbers. De Kock, who had given it up, troops off forlornly.

"Quinton de Kock's getting his hands through it. If the ball's there, you've got to go for it. You feel if Dilshan goes, there's not much left in Sri Lanka's batting - where will they turn to next?"

  7. SA 9-0 (target 121)published at 1 over

De Kock is a very confident starter and he begins nicely here, stroking a drive through the covers for four. That's not quite so convincing, squirting a flighted delivery past slip through third man, but the result is the same. Already, Sri Lanka are under pressure.

"A nice consolation win might be good for South Africa, who haven't had a very good time of it. Dale Steyn has figures of 1-68 from six overs in this tournament. Maybe it's time for him to focus on Test and 50-over cricket."

Right, we've got Amla and De Kock out in the middle, and it looks like Jayasuriya is ready to open the bowling. Last innings of the Super 10s stage. It's been emotional. Let's play.

A lot of teams have made a meal of chasing low totals in this tournament, but I just wonder if we'll see Amla and De Kock - who after all have had a great tournament - go out and try to take this down in style.

All in all, it's been a rather disappointing defence of their title by Sri Lanka. Aside from a brief flicker against England, they just haven't fired - West Indies and South Africa found it all too easy to run through a batting line-up that now looks about as solid as candy floss.

Stephan, thank you. A rather ropey performance from Sri Lanka then, but how often have we seen those sort of disappointing totals prove surprisingly competitive in this tournament?

South Africa all-rounder Farhaan Behardien: "It was definitely a pitch for myself, the ball didn't come on, bowling some cutters proved vital. I think for both sides it's tough to prepare for a game like this, it was difficult, but there's a lot of pride and we did a good job in the field. But we've seen in this tournament that 120 is a competitive score, especially on a low, slow deck."

  18. wicket

Lakmal run out 0 (SL 120 all out)

Well that was pretty shambolic, wasn't it? Sri Lanka go from 45-0 to 120 all out. Suranga Lakmal is run out out by Wiese's throw, completing a pretty horrific effort from the Sri Lankans. Surely South Africa will chase these?
