"Another important breakthrough. West Indies have looked very heavy footed today. That was a poor shot, no stable base at all."

"This is the worst possible start for the West Indies."
Samuels c Rahane b Nehra 8 (WI 19-2)
Oh dear. I'm not sure we'll be shifting that frown from the face of Marlon Samuels any time soon. He's lost his wicket to an absolutely dreadful shot, miscuing Nehra tamely up in the air to cover. He plods off looking like he's just taken a glug of off milk. India in charge.

"Chris Gayle has more impact than just his runs, he has an aura about him."

Kulvinder Kaur Joha: I thought it was an earthquake....it was my son erupting to the gayle force wicket!!
Theo Bowyer: Gayle gone... The wind out of the Windies sails?
Ben Garrett: Bumrah's got Gayle, India are in the final after 1.1 overs.
Marlon Samuels is the new man, wearing his seemingly permanent scowl. Cheer up Marlon! That might do the trick, an edge past the slips for four. Or indeed that - lovely shot off the final ball, laced through the covers for another four.

"Gayle never moves his feet and he is vulnerable first up. That is almost the perfect delivery."

"This place has gone mad. The end of Chris Gayle. It is a brilliant yorker to start things off. The West Indies lose their match winner."
Gayle b Bumrah 5 (WI 6-1)
Oh. Crumbs. Is that the end of West Indies' hopes? The dangerman is back in the sheds, totally undone by a superb inswinging yorker from Jasprit Bumrah. That was very similar to the delivery that did for Gayle against South Africa, bowled by Kagiso Rabada. A huge blow for West Indies, and the Wankhede is absolutely rocking.
Feast your eyes on some of those downright delicious shots from Virat Kohli's innings earlier on.
Charles taps Nehra off his pads for a single that feels surprisingly low-key after all that expectant whooing in the crowd. Mind games alert! Two slips in for Chris Gayle. I'm not sure that will ruffle the World Boss - his composure is harder to disturb than a teenager with headphones on listening to heavy metal. He picks up a short ball from Nehra and swats it disdainfully off his hip for four. Gayle takes a single to keep strike.

"I think Gayle might go for his slow couple of overs, get himself in, but after two overs, he is going to look to get his hands right through the ball."
Looks like Nehra's going to take the new ball. Opening the batting are Johnson Charles and...do I really need to tell you?
On the other hand, the West Indies in their last two matches have chased as disastrously as Sheriff JW Pepper in pursuit of James Bond. They nearly made a mess of 123 against South Africa, then fell in a heap chasing 124 against Afghanistan. There will be a few jitters in that locker room...
Stephan, thank you. My quadriceps ache just from watching that India innings - I don't think I've ever seen so much scampering between the wickets. Somehow I don't think we'll be seeing Chris Gayle using the Wankhede pitch as his own personal treadmill, but if he strikes it cleanly, he could make 193 look very modest indeed.
What to make of all that? For me, it's a one-wicket game. If India get Gayle, they win. If they don't, it's the Windians. Here's James Gheerbrant to talk to to the conclusion.

John Michael Poole: Don't fancy the West Indies to get these. See you on Sunday India.
True Blues: 20 runs short due to lack of boundaries from Rehane and Dhoni coming at end. Without Kohli this Indian team is very average.
India batsman Ajinkya Rahane: "It is a good score on the board. We thought 170 was good but I think we got 15 runs or more than we thought. I think our spinners will come in handy here but we'd like a couple of wickets in the first six overs."
