Marlon Samuels is named man of the match. Remember when he was given out caught behind, only to be called back. What a huge moment.

Chris Biggs: Simply one of the most incredible finishes I've seen in sport. Right up there with Aguero v QPR, Beckham v Greece, etc

More from Eoin Morgan: "I'm so proud of everyone in the squad, I truly believe this is the start of something special. Ben Stokes is good, it is not his fault. We enjoy our wins and share our losses."

England captain Eoin Morgan: "Firstly I would like to congratulate Darren and his team today. There were huge highs and lows.

"I was never sure, both sides won it and lost it with the bat. At half-time we felt we were in the game and we put ourselves in a position to win the game but today wasn't our day.

"We didn't have enough runs on the board and should have scored 180-190."

Morgan is speaking, He says the batting is where England lost it, that they needed 190 on the board. Hard to disagree.

"I didn't think Brathwaite was the one but West Indies have just got the ability to hit sixes. England have got the rounded game but West Indies go gung ho and it's a nice story for cricket."

The presentation is coming up. Eoin Morgan needs this like a bee in the box.

"Even after that first six you still felt there were plenty of runs to play with, but the atmosphere was almost gladiatorial."

Just watch this and wonder how he did it. Awe-inspiring stuff. 6-6-6-6. It's like a Torvill and Dean scorecard.

I've just seen a replay of the final moments. Brathwaite made contact, then stood in the middle of the pitch, arms outstretched, hollering into the night sky. The noise in Kolkata was louder than deafening.

Pete Roach: We were only on top for the 1st ball of the final over and then disaster. Obviously better as perpetual underdogs.

Sam Ager: Who honestly thought England would make the final before the tournament? Not many I think. Huge credit to this young team.

Brathwaite, by the way, ended up with 34 from 10 balls. He hit his last four balls for six. I have never seen anything like that. Hats off also to Marlon Samuels. He took pelters for the way he batted in the semi, but tonight he delivered. The man has the two highest scores in World T20 finals. Big game player.

  19. Postpublished at 18:13

West Indies hero Carlos Brathwaite: "Don't forget the amazing knock Marlon Samuels played, he took responsibility and played a fantastic knock. I wish I could use some expletives so explain how good an innings that was. It was a matter of when, not if."

The Windies are on a lap of honour, barely a shirt between them. No one has left Eden Gardens. It is a right old knees up. Amazing, incredible scenes. Twenty20 cricket. Unbelievable.
