Cook is unbeaten on 91.
Essex dominant.
Somerset 179 v Durham 256
BBC Radio Bristol's Anthony Gibson at Chester-le-Street:
"Peter Trego, last out for 45, did his best to atone for running out his captain.
"Somerset's 179 all out leaves a deficit of 77, just six less than the average deficit faced by sides batting second here in last 13 seasons.
"At Chester-le-Street, the wise captain wins the toss and bats!"
Northants 456-6 v Sussex
BBC Radio Northampton's Alex Winter at Wantage Road:
"This is becoming a very special afternoon. Ben Duckett is going on and on and moving past some of the greats of Northamptonshire on the highest innings list.
"Wayne Larkins, Alan Lamb and Dennis Brookes - the greatest Northants batsman of all - have all been surpassed.
"But he should, again, be long gone. Ed Joyce with the sharp chance put down at short cover-point.”
Somerset 179 v Durham 256
Debutant Brydon Carse picks up the final Somerset wicket as Peter Trego is caught by Chris Rushworth for 45.
Hampshire 189-8 v Warwickshire (start delayed)
This was the scene recently at the Ageas Bowl.
The rain appears to be easing, but still no official word on an inspection.

Somerset 168-9 v Durham 256
Somerset are on the brink of being bowled out at Chester-le-Street.
Chris Rushworth has just picked up his third wicket.
Northants 429-5 v Sussex
He's showing no signs of stopping is young Benjamin Duckett.
The Northants opener passes 250 - surely we're not going to see a triple century on the second day of the County Championship season?
Surrey 131-5 v Nottinghamshire 446
After striking 28 in boundaries, England limited-overs opener Jason Roy is sent packing by Jake Ball.
Surrey look like conceding a bit first-innings deficit at Trent Bridge.
Essex 183-1 v Gloucestershire 262
Alastair Cook has moved to 76 not out after lunch at Chelmsford.
However, he looks certain to be beaten to a ton by his batting partner Tom Westley who is unbeaten on 92.
Surrey 127-4 v Nottinghamshire 446
BBC Sport's Elizabeth Ammon at Trent Bridge:
"It was a tricky morning for Surrey. The pitch is offering something for bowlers who get the right length and get the right length they have been.
"Notts new overseas player Jackson Bird removed both the openers bowling in tandem with Jake Ball who bowled a particularly probing spell early on.
"It's pretty balmy weather here - at least for early April and there's a good crowd in as the local schools are still on Easter Holidays. Trent Bridge looking resplendent as ever."
Surrey 119-4 v Nottinghamshire 446
There's another England man in the middle at the moment - Jason Roy is 24 not out for Surrey.
All of his runs have come in boundaries too.
I told you our BBC commentators are being well looked after!
The players are starting to emerge after the 40-minute lunch break.
We'll keep a close eye on Ben Duckett and Alastair Cook...both looked majestic this morning.
Hampshire 189-8 v Warwickshire (start delayed)
Hmm, not looking great for the rest of the day in Southampton.
The forecast suggests it may dry up by 17:00 BST - probably too little too late.
We'll keep you updated from the Ageas Bowl.
Northants 401-5 v Sussex
Pretty remarkable stuff from the 21-year-old.
Essex 164-1 v Gloucestershire 262
BBC Radio Gloucestershire's Bob Hunt at Chelmsford:
"It's going to be a long day for Gloucestershire in the field.
"Alistair Cook and Tom Westley have serenely added 125 runs for Essex in the morning session against an attack lacking penetration.
"With Cook's famed powers of concentration it's hard to see the England captain not going on to make a big score. He's on 64 at lunch; his partner is on 85 as Essex aim to construct a sizeable first innings lead."
Somerset 143-8 v Durham 256 - Lunch
BBC Newcastle's Martin Emmerson at Chester-le-Street:
"What a morning for the hosts. After waiting 45 minutes to get their first wicket of the day they then came in twos, just like proverbial buses.
"And in both instances they were in Graham Onions' overs. James Hildreth's dismissal for 27 started the rot as he edged Onions to Ryan Pringle in the slips. Jim Allenby went next delivery, first ball, lbw.
"And four overs later it happened again. Roelof Van Der Merwe caught behind before Chris Rogers was run out next delivery for 23. A direct hit from the covers from Mark Stoneman as Peter Trego appeared in too much of a hurry to get off the mark first ball."
Worcestershire v Kent (No play Monday, wet outfield)
Here's why play has been abandoned for a second day running between Worcestershire and Kent...
We mentioned earlier, Reece Topley injured his hand while batting for Hampshire on Sunday.
I'm afraid the news is not good.
The 20-year-old has fractured his right hand, although it's not yet known whether it will prevent the left-armer from bowling.
