    Surrey 454 v Warwickshire 91 & 356-9

    Game over.

Moments after reaching his 150, Jonathan Trott slices Mark Footitt to Dom Sibley at third man.

Last man Oliver Hannon-Dalby comes to the crease with Warwickshire still trailing by seven runs.

150 for Jonathan Trottpublished at 11:34 British Summer Time 10 April 2017

    Surrey 454 v Warwickshire 91 & 353-8

This is some innings from former England batsman Jonathan Trott.

The 35-year-old creams Tom Curran for his 19th boundary to move past 150 and bring Warwickshire ever closer to avoiding an innings defeat.

The reality is, Warwickshire will need him to get 250 if they are to get anything out of the match.

    They still trail by 10.

Dan Lawrence is starting to look fluent for Essex.

The teenager strokes Kyle Jarvis to the boundary and then picks up a couple courtesy of a misfield.

Lawrence is up to 27, Tom Westley is on 29. The Essex hundred is also up.

  5. wicket

WICKET Patel (lbw b T Curran) 29published at 11:26 British Summer Time 10 April 2017

    Surrey 454 v Warwickshire 91 & 345-8

    Breakthrough for Surrey!

Tom Curran pins Jeetan Patel lbw for a bright and breezy 29.

Warwickshire still need 18 to make Surrey bat again. Chris Wright, who certainly knows which end of the bat to hold, comes to the middle to join Jonathan Trott.

  6. Who is Dan Lawrence?published at 11:23 British Summer Time 10 April 2017

Those outside the Essex circle might not know too much about young batsman Dan Lawrence.

Well, he's 19, averages almost 45 with the bat and was the third youngest batsman to make a County Championship hundred when he hit 161 against Surrey at the age of 17 years and 290 days.

Ah, there's been a wicket at The Oval...

James Anderson is racing in for Lancashire. Plenty of aggression as per - but Essex have got two highly talented batsmen at the crease.

Dan Lawrence and Tom Westley are digging in. They've brought sandwiches.

  8. How many can Warwickshire get?published at 11:10 British Summer Time 10 April 2017

    Surrey 454 v Warwickshire 91 & 332-7

Warwickshire have started brightly in south London. Jeetan Patel has just hit back-to-back boundaries off Mark Footitt to bring the Bears within 31 of Surrey.

Can they get a lead of say 100? It would certainly be an uncomfortable chase for the hosts if they got there.

Jonathan Trott is just seven shy of his 150.

Hmm, not looking quite as glorious in Chelmsford today...

And a similar forecast 30 miles down the road at The Oval. At least it's looking dry.

Maiden to start for James Anderson.

Tom Westley only had to play at two deliveries in the over - I'm guessing we're going to see plenty of leaves outside off stump today.

Essex need 389 more to win. Or to survive three sessions. Take your pick.

Essex batsman Tom Westley to face.

  14. 'Lancashire should have enough firepower'published at 10:55 British Summer Time 10 April 2017

    Essex 159 & 89-2 v Lancashire 319 & 317-3 dec

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Manchester Sport

There is a sharp drop in temperature in Chelmsford today but that will probably go unnoticed by Tom Westley and Dan Lawrence when they take their guard and see England`s James Anderson ready and waiting at the Hayes Close End.

Anderson only bowled six overs in the sunshine last night as he skippered the team in the absence of injured Steven Croft, who's was nursing a thumb injury.

Lancashire should have enough firepower to win this match, but if Essex could survive the day, what a boost that would give them as they start life back in Division One.
