Australia are on course for victory, it seems, against Pakistan.

After posting 290-8, thanks to half-centuries by Alyssa Healy, Ellyse Perry and Elyse Villani, they have reduced Pakistan to 39-3.

It's more evenly poised at Derby where Sri Lanka are 30-1 after 11.3 overs in pursuit of India's 232-8.

  2. SA 61-0published at 15 overs

It's hot in Bristol. In the stands there is praying mantis crying its eyes out. Sciver is straight, mixing her pace, all while Sarah Taylor chunters encouragement from behind the stumps. If you haven't seen the catch that Danni Wyatt dropped in Sciver's previous over, have a look at this...

  3. SA 58-0published at 14 overs

    Target 374

Laura Wolvaardt's long, Hermione Grainger, hair pokes out from the back of her helmet. She adjusts it after pretty much every delivery. This is nice from Hartley, quite a full length. Three singles from the over.

  4. SA 55-0published at 13 overs

Things are just starting to go South Africa's way. A big drive from Laura Wolvaardt, an inside edge, running to fine leg for four, then down on one knee to swipe Sciver to the boundary. At this stage, England were 64-0. Makes you think.

  5. SA 46-0published at 12 overs

    Target 374

Alex Hartley is bowling behind a pair of shades will a balletic action that sees her throw both arms in the air. Lizelle Lee is more piano mover than piano player, biffing over mid-on for four.

  6. dropped catch

Lee dropped on 39published at 11 overs

    SA 40-0

Dropped! It would have been very, very good from Danni Wyatt, but she is probably the best fielder in this England team so you'd back her to take it. Lizelle Lee lofts Nat Sciver towards the cover fence, Wyatt comes in off the boundary, slides on her knees, but shells the chance. If England have had a weakness in this tournament, catching has been it.

  7. SA 35-0published at 10 overs

    Target 374

Pace off the ball is clearly the way forward for England on this pitch. It's really made a difference since Hartley came into the attack. Maiden over again.

With the required run-rate now in excess of 8 an over, here's Stephan Shemilt.

It's strange seeing Shrubsole struggle. Has she not got the yard of pace she once had?

  9. SA 34-0published at 9 overs

Here's that pulled six from earlier - possibly the final nail in the coffin of Anya Shrubsole's opening spell. Another tidy over from England though, who have pulled it back nicely. Just one from Brunt's latest set of six. It all helps to build the pressure on the South Africa openers.

  10. SA 33-0published at 8 overs

Alex Hartley replaces Anya Shrubsole, who already looks to be having an off day, and bowls a maiden. Nice, tidy start from the spinner.

  11. Brunt v Wolvaardtpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 5 July 2017

  12. SA 32-0published at 7 overs

    Target 374

Laura Wolvaardt and Katherine Brunt are having a good, old ding-dong - the latest installment seeing the teenage opener edge through the off side. It brings a single and a grimace to the face of Brunt.

  13. SA 30-0published at 6 overs

    Shrubsole 3-0-24-0

Anya Shrubsole is having a 'mare today. She pitches the ball up to Lizelle Lee and is smashed through long-off for four.

  14. SA 25-0published at 5 overs

Laura Wolvaardt was just 5 when Katherine Brunt made her England debut. She's probably reminded of that when she ducks beneath a bouncer and cops a verbal volley. Brunt's no shrinking violet, that's for sure. Wolvaardt responds by putting her hands on her hips in a non-fussed sort of way. Maiden over.

Lee is renowned for hitting the ball hard. She saw that so early, pivoted and whacked it.

  16. SA 24-0published at 4 overs

    Target 374

Lizelle Lee is clearly all or nothing. A few dots and then a pull shot for six. Runs are like buses for Lizelle.

James Margolis: What a performance. Confidence builder before Australia and New Zealand clashes.

  18. SA 17-0published at 3 overs

    Target 374

Wolvaardt is some player - she drives Katherine Brunt through the covers for another four. England won't be having this all her own way.

  19. SA 12-0published at 2 overs

    Target 374

Anya Shrubsole begins with three wides in a row. She hasn't got a wicket so far in this tournament, but it's not been for the want of trying. She's had a few dropped off her bowling too. Wolvaardt rubs salt into the wounds with two glorious fours through the off side - one through the covers and one through point.

I was thinking towards the end of the England innings that South Africa wouldn't chase these. What must they have been thinking when England passed 300, then 350?
