    Northants 261 v Leicestershire 56-4

Leicestershire have lost Mark Cosgrove and Rob Sayer in quick succession and are in a bit of a pickle against Northants at Wantage Road.

Colin Ackermann is 19 not out, but with a deficit of 205 still it looks very much like they'll be going into day two on the back foot.

    Essex 100-0 v Middlesex 246

If Division One leaders Essex thought their season couldn't get any better after last week's innings drubbing of Warwickshire, it may well have done today.

Openers Alastair Cook (59) and Nick Browne (39) bring up their century stand just before stumps at Chelmsford.

They'll want to be there at the end.

    Nottinghamshire 109-3 v Kent 180

Nottinghamshire opener Steven Mullaney has a fifty at Trent Bridge as the hosts hunt down Kent's first-innings total.

They lost Jake Libby, Brendan Taylor and Samit Patel, but Mullaney and Alex Hales (26 not out) are going along nicely.

  4. 'Incredible how quickly ball loses its colour'published at 20:58 British Summer Time 26 June 2017

BBC Radio London commentator Mark Church isn't convinced by the new pink ball it seems.

The manufacturers have made it in the same way as the traditional red ball, but it just isn't the same.

    WICKET S Curran (c Bairstow b Patterson) 20published at 20:57 British Summer Time 26 June 2017

    Yorkshire v Surrey 358-6

Yorkshire are just keeping Surrey in check at Headingley.

Sam Curran edges Steven Patterson behind and is replaced at the crease by his brother Tom.

Kumar Sangakkara is up to 70 though and looking hungry.

  6. Sussex declare on 358published at 20:55

    Sussex 358-9 dec v Gloucestershire

Following Hampshire's lead, albeit in a much stronger position, Sussex have declared at Hove.

Chris Jordan's 50, following Luke Wright's 118 and Ben Brown's 52, has seen them to a good total and new skipper Brown has decided to give Gloucestershire a tricky task under the lights at the end of the day's play.

    Warwickshire v Lancashire 273

    Stephan Shemilt

Are Lancashire disappointed to be all out for 273? Possibly, but every cloud has a silver lining.

One of the greatest swing bowlers to ever draw breath is about to get the pink ball in is hand under the lights.

No wonder James Anderson got a first-ball duck - if he'd hung around too long he might have trodden on his stumps to have opportunity for a bowl.

  10. Hampshire declarepublished at 20:50 British Summer Time 26 June 2017

    Hampshire 211-9 dec v Somerset

Hampshire fancy a bowl tonight it seems.

They call a close to their innings with six overs remaining.

With a poor forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday it may be a wise call.

  11. wicket

WICKET Anderson (lbw b Panayi) 0published at 20:46 British Summer Time 26 June 2017

    Warwickshire v Lancashire 273

    First-baller for Jimmy! Oh dear.

George Panayi strikes the England man on the pad and he's sent packing.

Lancashire are all out for 273 with Shiv Chanderpaul unbeaten on 117.

Warwickshire will have 14 overs or thereabouts to bat this evening.

  12. wicket

WICKET Bailey (b Panayi) 17published at 20:45 British Summer Time 26 June 2017

    Warwickshire v Lancashire 271-9

Warwickshire do get the breakthrough and it's the debutant George Panayi with it!

The 19-year-old seamer takes the new pink ball and bowls Tom Bailey with his second delivery.

James Anderson is the last man in.

  13. wicket

WICKET McManus (b Gregory) 13published at 20:43 British Summer Time 26 June 2017

    Hampshire 199-9 v Somerset

    Nine down!

Lewis Gregory sneaks one through Lewis McManus for his third wicket of the innings.

Can Hampshire at least get one batting bonus point - they need another run.

  14. Postpublished at 20:40 British Summer Time 26 June 2017

    Warwickshire v Lancashire 271-8

Warwickshire are being frustrated after that post-tea burst from Keith Barker.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul (115) and Tom Bailey (17) have put on 39 at almost four an over.

The Bears batting has looked fragile to say the least this season, so they'll want to finish this off quickly.

  15. wicket

WICKET Berg (lbw b Gregory) 11published at 20:34 British Summer Time 26 June 2017

    Hampshire 198-8 v Somerset

Hampshire are really struggling at the Ageas Bowl.

Gareth Berg is the latest man to go, pinned in front by Lewis Gregory.

Kyle Abbott, who scored a career-best 97 not out last week, comes in at number 10, so there's still hope for the hosts.

Fifty for Alastair Cookpublished at 20:26 British Summer Time 26 June 2017

    Essex 72-0 v Middlesex 246

Alastair Cook brings up his half-century for Essex off 67 balls.

And in other news, the sun is hot. Okay, I'll stop that now.

In all seriousness, we're watching one of the greats in his prime here, although he did get a life in the previous over when Nick Gubbins dropped him in the covers.

Division One leaders Essex are in a very strong position already.

  18. Pink ball watchpublished at 20:23 British Summer Time 26 June 2017

BBC Northampton commentator Alex Winter says it's "very very tricky for the batsman, new ball zipping around under the lights". I believe him.

I wouldn't fancy batting now myself! Just look how gloomy Edgbaston is below. The floodlights are excellent there though.

    Yorkshire v Surrey 320-5

Goodness me, Yorkshire needed that wicket.

Ben Foakes skews Ben Coad straight to cover and Peter Handscomb takes the catch.

It's a 35th Championship wicket of a golden summer for the Yorkshire seamer.
