  1. Watch Westley's 'outrageous' sixpublished at 21:14 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

A few overs before his dismissal, Essex's Tom Westley got one of the luckiest sixes I can recall... You can watch his 'outrageous' six in all its glory here:

  2. wicket

WICKET Westley (b Borthwick) 23published at 9.1 overs

    Essex 76-3 v Surrey (target 189)

Scott Borthwick joins the attack... And gets a wicket with his first ball! The partnership is broken.

A perfect googly catches out Tom Westley, who goes for 23. A big moment for Surrey!

  3. Postpublished at 9 overs

    Essex 76-2 v Surrey (target 189)

A few fumbles in the field are creeping into Surrey's attack. They're getting a tad frustrated, as the pressure mounts.

Ravi Rampaul's pace is making things tough for Essex too though.

  4. Postpublished at 8 overs

    Essex 67-2 v Surrey (target 189)

Some cracking fielding from Ollie Pope prevents a boundary, after Tom Westley had hit Dominic Sibley for a six earlier in the over.

12 scored from the over though. Essex remain on track.

  5. Notts and Durham lose wicketspublished at 21:05 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    Around the grounds

Nottinghamshire Outlaws hopes of chasing Yorkshire Vikings' record score look to be fading as David Willey has Dan Christian caught on the legside boundary and Steven Patterson dismisses Steven Mullaney. Notts are 147-6, needing an unlikely 81 from 21 balls to win.

Durham Jets are similarly struggling against Lancashire Lightning, with Paul Collingwood falling. They're 113-6, needing 80 runs from 24 balls.

Derbyshire Falcons are in a better position against Northants Steelbacks, 142-3 off 15.4 overs, needing 38 runs from 26 balls.

Meanwhile, in the South Group, Hampshire have taken control against Glamorgan, with Shahid Afridi returning 4-20 to leave the hosts 114-7, needing 54 runs from 24 balls, with two new batsmen at the crease.

  6. Postpublished at 7 overs

    Essex 55-2 v Surrey (target 189)

Essex's required run rate is just over 10 an over. They need another 134 to win.

Ravi Bopara has 14, while Tom Westley is eight not out.

  7. 6 runs

Bopara with a sixpublished at 6.2 overs

    Essex 52-2 v Surrey (target 189)

    Ravi BoparaImage source, Rex Features

That's a much more intentional six from Ravi Bopara this time, as he sends Jade Dernbach's slower delivery straight back over Dernbach's head for a high six over long-on.

A sweet stroke from the Essex batsman.

  8. 6 runs

    Postpublished at 6 overs

    Essex 46-2 v Surrey (target 189)

Essex's Tom Westley swings - aiming straight back down the ground - but via an outside edge he gets a six over backward point.

That's what I'd call silly cricket. A six... From an outside edge!

  9. Wagg fights back after Afridi burstpublished at 20:56 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    Around the grounds

Graham Wagg is leading the fightback for Glamorgan against Hampshire in Cardiff. Shahid Afridi didn't get a chance to go boom boom with the bat, but took 3-15 in three overs to leave the Welsh side 47-5.

But Wagg (39 off 19 balls) and Chris Cooke have got Glamorgan 98-5 from 13.2, needing 70 runs from 40 balls.

  10. Postpublished at 5 overs

    Essex 36-2 v Surrey (target 189)

Ravi Bopara sneaks a couple more singles with some typically risky running... Cutting it fine, but getting home safe.

  11. Postpublished at 4 overs

    Essex 34-2 v Surrey (target 189)

Ravi Bopara, playing his 250th T20 match, takes a couple of singles as he joins Tom Westley in the middle.

Surrey have a bit of momentum for the time being.

  12. wicket

    WICKET Lawrence (c Burns b S Curran 13)published at 3.2 overs

    Essex 31-2 v Surrey (target 189)

Now Sam Curran gets a wicket, as Dan Lawrence is caught behind, trying to swipe outside the off stump.

It gets a slight top edge and it's an easy one for the wicketkeeper.

  13. wicket

    WICKET Chopra (b T Curran 12)published at 2.5 overs

    Essex 25-1 v Surrey (target 189)

    Varun ChopraImage source, Rex Features

After conceding a couple of boundaries, Tom Curran's fifth ball has too much pace for Varun Chopra, who edges into his own stumps and falls for 12 runs. Excellent bowling.

  14. 6 runs

Lawrence hits a sixpublished at 2 overs

    Essex 15-0 v Surrey (target 189)

Essex finish with a big first boundary from Dan Lawrence, who drives one straight back over Sam Curran for six.

  15. Notts lose Hales in mammoth chasepublished at 20:40 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    Around the grounds

    Alex HalesImage source, Rex Features

Nottinghamshire Outlaws have lost three wickets at the halfway stage of their chase of 228 against Yorkshire Vikings. They're 81-3 off 10.1 overs, after Alex Hales fell for 47.

Durham Jets are in trouble against Lancashire Lightning. Chasing 193 to win, they're 62-4 off 8.3 overs, with Paul Coughlin and Paul Collingwood at the crease.

The other game in the North Group sees Derbyshire Falcons 80-2 off 9.2 chasing down Northants Steelbacks' 179-6.

  16. Postpublished at 1 over

    Essex 4-0 v Surrey (target 189)

Sam Curran will bowl from the other end for Surrey, who started well in the field with Jade Dernbach conceding just four from the first over.

Essex's required rate is up near 9.5 an over.

  17. Essex begin chasepublished at 20:36 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    Essex 0-0 v Surrey (target 189)

Dan Lawrence and Varun Chopra are out in the middle to face Jade Dernbach's first over.

189 needed to win. Here we go...

  18. Watch a Sibley sixpublished at 20:29 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

Dominic Sibley has been in and out of the Surrey side in the other formats this season, but we showed his worth tonight, top-scoring with 61 runs off 40 balls.

Watch him deposit a Ravi Bopara ball into the stands.

  19. Surrey make 188-8published at 20:27 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

So, despite losing wickets throughout, Surrey post a competitive 188-8. It's clearly a good wicket at Chelmsford and with short boundaries, Essex know they're still in the game.

Australia opener Aaron Finch (56) and Dominic Sibley (61) scored the majority of Surrey's runs, with Sam Curran pitching in with 25.

  20. wicket

WICKET Sibley (run out Foster) 61published at 20 overs

    Essex v Surrey 188-8

Paul Walter to finish up. A single and a two is followed by an inside-edge off a hack down to fine-leg for four from Scott Borthwick.

The left-armer bowls well right up until the final delivery when a no-ball gives Surrey a free-hit. It's carnage off the final ball as Walter bowls Borthwick with a cutter. Borthwick forgets the rules, goes for a run and sends Dominic Sibley a hospital pass. James Foster pulls out the stump with the ball in gloves to finish with a wicket.
