    Essex v Surrey 151-7

Ryan ten Doeschate brings himself onto bowl, becoming the seventh bowler in the process. He's probably doing it to speed up his side's over-rate but it's worked wonders.

An off-cutter beats Tom Curran all ends up, knocking out his leg stump.

  6. 6 runs

Sibley shows his classpublished at 17 overs

Shot! Dominic Sibley has got his eye in now. He steps across and flicks a short of a length ball from Ravi Bopara over the legside for a towering six.

    Essex v Surrey 141-6

Impressive stuff from Paul Walter. Sam Curran gets down and scoops the left-armer for a four down to fine leg, but the Essex bowler responds in the perfect way, knocking Curran's legstump back with a quick one.

Sam is replaced by older brother Tom in the middle having made 25 from 16 balls.

  8. Watch Amir catch Popepublished at 20:04 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

Mohammad Amir is in the team for his fast bowling, but the Pakistan paceman can also field, as he showed. Watch him catch Ollie Pope off Ravi Bopara's slower ball below.

Both those matches appear to be finely in the balance.

  10. ouch!

Sibley takes one in the stomachpublished at 15 overs

Jamie Porter bowls a nasty full toss straight into Dominic Sibley's midrift. Sam Curran smashes the resulting free hit through the offside for four before depositing a short ball over the legside for six.

    Essex v Surrey 114-5

Paul Walter gets one through at 89.1mph on the speed gun. It's impressive pace from the left-armer, but Dominic Sibley creams a pull shot through the legside for four.

Seven runs from the over. Surrey need a partnership before the final push.

  13. Postpublished at 13 overs

    Essex v Surrey 107-5

    Mohammad AmirImage source, Rex Features

Ryan ten Doeschate continues to rotate his squad as Mohammad Amir comes back on to bowl his third over.

Sam Curran does very well to dig out a yorker and find the offside boundary rope. Eight runs come off the over as an appeal for lbw is turned down and two leg-byes are run off the final ball.

Surrey's run-rate is a healthy 8.23. It's just the loss of wickets that may prove the problem as they look to up it later on.

Sibley gives the crowd a catchpublished at 12 overs

    Essex v Surrey 99-5

Expensive over from Simon Harmer, with 13 runs coming off his second over.

Dominic Sibley does most of the damage, hitting one over wide mid-on and into the second tier where a man in the crowd embarrasses himself by shelling the catch.

  16. Watch Finch reach fifty in stylepublished at 19:47 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

It all seems such a long time ago already, but Aaron Finch has been the only Surrey batsman to time the ball well.

Watch him reach fifty with a big six off Ashar Zaidi.

  20. wicket

WICKET Finch (c Foster b Bopara) 56published at 8.4 overs

    Essex v Surrey 76-4

    Huge wicket for Ravi Bopara!

The former England man is a useful bowler and he proves it, getting rid of the danger man Aaron Finch. The Australian cuts for four, but edges behind to James Foster trying to recreate the shot from a ball too close to him.

He made 56 from just 27 balls, but Essex are well on top here.
