Well, that's all folks. A thoroughly enjoyable West Midlands derby has come to a close at Edgbaston, where we've been treated to plenty of big hitting and some canny bowling.

Thanks for joining me. I'll be back next Friday for more of the same - I hope you will too.

By contrast, Bears captain Ian Bell felt his side were second-best today.

He told Sky Sports: "We gave ourselves a chance. We pulled it right back with the ball and we were happy to chase 190, but you need one of your top four to get 80.

"We were a bit off today, and the guys will admit that. We made it a bit easy for them at the start."

  3. Leach: Our plans came offpublished at 22:04 British Summer Time 4 August 2017

Worcestershire beat Birmingham Bears by five runs

Worcestershire skipper Joe Leach was delighted with how his team performed today and thinks they might have found some momentum in the competition.

"We spent a lot of time working on our bowling plans and it seems to be paying off now," he told Sky Sports.

"We've won three of our last four games, so hopefully we're timing our run well."

  5. Santner the stand-outpublished at 21:55 British Summer Time 4 August 2017

Worcestershire beat Birmingham Bears by five runs

Dom Sibley (49), Grant Elliott (38) and Aaron Thomason (33) kept the Bears in the game, but Mitchell Santner's 3-16, the Rapids' bowling tactics and clever use of the long boundary took the away side home.

Earlier on John Hastings' 51 off 20 balls and Joe Clarke's 34 off 15 did the damage for the Rapids with the bat.

The Bears' four-game winning run comes to an end, while Worcestershire pick up just their third win in nine T20 Blast games.

  6. WORCESTERSHIRE WIN BY 5 RUNSpublished at 21:52 British Summer Time 4 August 2017
    Breaking

    Bears 185-7

Well bowled John Hastings. The Bears had little chance at the beginning of the over, but he made no mistake.

Aaron Thomason, who played a brilliant hand, smites an almighty six over the sight screen off the final ball, but it's too little too late.

Remember the five penalty runs for hitting the helmet the Bears received? Well, that's the margin of victory for Worcestershire.

  7. Birmingham Bears need 19 runs off 6 ballspublished at 19 overs

    Bears 172-7

Valiant effort from Aaron Thomason, whose outside edge brings a much-needed boundary. He scampers another two, but Alex Mellor at the other end struggles to get the ball away. They take nine off Joe Leach's over, leaving 19 to win.

  8. Elsewhere in the T20 Blastpublished at 21:45 British Summer Time 4 August 2017

    • It's too little too late for Leicestershire, who've fallen just short in the final over against Lancashire, who have won by four runs.
    • In tonight's delayed game, Gloucestershire need another 42 runs against Somerset and have 31 balls remaining.
    • Essex have got another three overs to find 21 runs against Hampshire.
    • Derbyshire need 28 runs with two overs to spare against Nottinghamshire and Sussex are in the ascendency against Kent as they need just 16 more runs from 22 balls.

  9. Birmingham Bears need 28 runs off 12 ballspublished at 18 overs

    Bears 163-7

John Hastings has all the tricks. His first four balls go: off-cutter, yorker, slower-ball bouncer, wide yorker.

However, Aaron Thomason gets hold of a full toss, the fifth ball, clubbing it over the legside for six. He then uses some baseball-style running to slide in for a two.

  10. wicket

WICKET Barker (c&b Leach) 0published at 17 overs

    Bears 150-7

Really good bowling from Joe Leach. The Worcestershire skipper surprises Keith Barker with a bouncer, which he can only hook straight up in the air, allowing Leach to run and gather.

  11. wicket

WICKET De Grandhomme (c Barnard b Leach) 23published at 16.2 overs

    Bears 149-6

Colin de Grandhomme falls, and Birmingham Bears' hopes take a big blow. Joe Leach bowls wide outside the offstump, asking the big New Zealander to hit to the long offside boundary. He has a good old go, but picks out Ed Barnard on the fence.

  12. 6 runs

De Grandhomme launches itpublished at 16 overs

Bears need 49 to win off 24 balls

Colin de Grandhomme has to be the man for Birmingham Bears now. He shows what he's capable of, sending two sixes over the longest boundary off Daryl Mitchell.

Game on now with the big New Zealander at the crease.

  13. Bears 126-5published at 15 overs

    de Grandhomme 5, Thomason 2

Is that the match-winning bowling spell? Mitchell Santner ends his four overs with the outstanding figures of 3-16.

The left-arm spinner looked almost impossible to time as he slowed his pace down, down and down some more.

    • What a thriller at Chester-le-Street! It all went down to the final over and despite a valiant effort from Yorkshire, they've fallen just one run short of their target and Durham have won in front of 6,500 in attendance. Thrilling stuff.
    • Elsewhere, Glamorgan are keeping the pressure on at the top of the South Group. They've beaten Surrey by six runs.
    • Leicestershire are leaving it late against Lancashire. They've got 9 balls to get 20 runs.

    Game on!

  15. wicket

WICKET Elliott (c Leach b Santner) 38published at 21:27 British Summer Time 4 August 2017

    Bears 122-5

Brain fade from Grant Elliott. What is he thinking?!

Joe Leach posts three fielders at backward point to Mitchell Santner. Elliott knows where the ball is going, but opts for the reverse-sweep, succeeding only in putting it straight into the Rapids' captain's hands.

  16. Bears 122-4published at 14 overs

    Elliott 38, de Grandhomme 3

Clever batting from Grant Elliott, who uses the longer legside boundary to his advantage, dabbing a few quick twos.

The Bears need 11.5 runs per over. As commentators like to say, they need one big over.

  17. 6 runs

Elliott hits one milespublished at 13 overs

    Bears 114-4

About time, really. Grant Elliott gets down on one knee and absolutely middles a length ball from Patrick Brown, sending it miles back into the home crowd on the legside.

He slashes another past backward point for four and a scrambled two makes it 14 runs off the over. Better from the hosts. Elliott has 32.

  18. Bears 100-4published at 12 overs

    Elliott 19, de Grandhomme 0

The Bears bring their hundred up, but they're really behind the game now. Television's very own WASP gives them just 9% chance of doing it.

  19. wicket

WICKET Sibley (c Santner b Mitchell) 49published at 11.3 overs

    Bears 95-4

Big wicket for Worcestershire! Dom Sibley is definitely playing for the team, not personal landmarks as he skies Daryl Mitchell down to long-on where Mitchell Santner takes a wonderful diving catch.

The Rapids are well on top. Two New Zealand internationals at the crease now as Colin de Grandhomme comes in.

  20. Bears 92-3published at 11 overs

    Sibley 49, Elliott 11

Really well bowled, Patrick Brown. The youngster dropped Dom Sibley a few overs back, but he's kept his nerves in his first over.

The right-arm seamer pretty much nails six yorkers, going for just six runs. His captain will be delighted with that result.
