  1. Northants 'still in the race'published at 16:00 British Summer Time 15 September 2017

    Glamorgan 207 & 320 v Northamptonshire 310 & 221-3

    Alex Winter
    BBC Radio Northampton sport

Another good win for Northamptonshire, who are doing their best to keep pace with the promotion race.

This was their seventh win of the season - two more than they achieved when winning promotion in 2013.

They were ahead in this game all the way through and could well have wrapped up a bigger victory had they ended Glamorgan's lower-order resistance earlier yesterday afternoon.

But it is 22 more points and promotion still up for grabs with Nottinghamshire at home and Leicestershire away in their remaining games - they will have to win both and hope that Notts and/or Worcestershire slip up in the final round.

WICKET Brown (c Hughes b Viljoen) 0published at 15:59 British Summer Time 15 September 2017

    Sussex 271 & 271-5 v Derbyshire 338 & 322-8 dec

Derbyshire think they can win this. Viljoen has 12 in the match!

This really is going to be a thriller. The South African quick gets Brown caught at slip for a duck and has a second five-wicket haul of the match.

  3. MIDDLESEX DRAW WITH HAMPSHIREpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 15 September 2017

    Middlesex 204 & 14-1 v Hampshire 146

Umpires Russell Evans and Graham Lloyd decide no further play is possible after a rain shower at Uxbridge.

Middlesex take nine points and Hampshire eight - both, though, remain in danger of relegation with two rounds of games to go.

Nick Compton is 11 not out when the game is called off, with Stevie Eskinazi on three.

  4. wicket

WICKET Van Zyl (c Critchley b Viljoen) 85published at 15:54 British Summer Time 15 September 2017

    Sussex 271 & 267-4 (66 overs) v Derbyshire 338 & 322-8 dec

    Massive wicket for Derbyshire.

South African Stiaan van Zyl goes for an excellent 85 and this match takes a swing towards Derbyshire.

The visitors break the Wright-Van Zyl partnership which had looked very good for Sussex. Who is going to win now?

There are 30 overs left. Sussex need 123. Derbyshire need six wickets.

Kent all-rounder Darren Stevens claims his seventh 'five-for' of the summer by bowling Josh Shaw for two at the Brightside Ground. Gareth Roderick is 43 not out, despite batting with a finger injury, and Gloucestershire's lead is 248.

  6. Sussex on the attackpublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 15 September 2017

    Sussex 271 & 266-3 v Derbyshire 338 & 322-8 dec

This could turn into a one-day style chase.

Sussex's 250 is brought up by Luke Wright boundary. Stiaan van Zyl (85 not out) then joins the attack with a four of his own before another from Wright (75 not out).

Sussex have scored 29 in five overs since the tea interval.

They need another 124 with seven wickets remaining.

  7. Next week's fixturespublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 15 September 2017

Tuesday 19 to Friday 22 September

The penultimate round of Championship matches takes place next week with the prospect of six teams still being in danger of relegation, and Notts taking on Northants in a game which could go a long way to deciding who goes up from Division Two.

    Division One

    Hampshire v Essex

    Middlesex v Lancashire

    Surrey v Somerset

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire

    Division Two

    Derbyshire v Kent

    Durham v Sussex

    Glamorgan v Gloucestershire

    Northamptonshire v Nottinghamshire

  8. Yorkshire halted by bad lightpublished at 15:45 British Summer Time 15 September 2017

    Surrey 592 v Yorkshire 394 & 281-2

The umpires take the players off at the Oval with Yorkshire 83 runs ahead. Shaun Marsh is still there on 125 not out and Gary Ballance has 28 - their stand so far worth 42.

With this game looking like a draw, and a similar scenario between Middlesex and Hampshire, Warwickshire's Division One status is hanging by a thread.

  9. rain stops play

Rain hold-up at Uxbridgepublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 15 September 2017

    Middlesex 204 & 14-1 v Hampshire 146

The rain, which blighted the first three days of this game, returns and we wonder how much enthusiasm there is among the two sets of players to resume the action. Middlesex have four bonus points so far and Hampshire have three.

  11. Five to win for Northantspublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 15 September 2017

    Northants 310 & 213-3 (58 overs) v Glamorgan 207 & 320

Play restarts at Cardiff and immediately Alex Wakely hits a boundary for Northamptonshire.

He isn't going to leave it to chance. Five to win...

  12. Wright key to Sussex run-chasepublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 15 September 2017

    Derbyshire 338 & 322-8 dec v Sussex 271 & 236-3

    Adrian Harms
    Sports reporter, BBC Sussex

Providing the weather holds, this game is in the balance, with Sussex needing 154 to win in 36 overs

Stiaan Van Zyl and Luke Wright have added 89 for the fourth wicket, with Wright, in particular, looking to attack whenver possible.

However, Hardus Viljoen has already taken 10 wickets in the match and he is certain to bowl after tea. With a new ball available in 20 overs this game could go down to the wire.

  13. wicket

WICKET Robson (c Adams b Berg) 0published at 15:26 British Summer Time 15 September 2017

    Middlesex 204 & 12-1 v Hampshire 146

The wickets continue to fall at Uxbridge as Middlesex opener Sam Robson is taken at second slip. Not sure where we're going with this game, but it's certainly not short of incident. Middlesex lead by 70.

  14. Glos legend celebrates birthdaypublished at 15:25 British Summer Time 15 September 2017

    Mike ProcterImage source, Rex Features

As Gloucestershire take tea against Kent at Bristol, we just want to wish former all-rounder Mike Procter a happy 71st birthday.

A genuinely fast bowler and destructive batsman, he took 1,417 first-class wickets during his career at a cost of less than 20 runs each and scored 48 centuries.

He only played seven Tests for South Africa because of their exile from international sport in the apartheid era, and spent several summers with Gloucestershire - and memorably took a televised hat-trick against Hampshire in a 1977 B&H Cup semi-final.

  15. Play to restart in Cardiffpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 15 September 2017

    Northants 310 & 209-3 (57.1 overs) v Glamorgan 207 & 320

The rain has cleared and the outfield dry enough for the restart in Cardiff.

Northamptonshire will be breathing a sign of relief because they only need another nine runs to beat Glamorgan.

  16. Worcestershire go top of Division Twopublished at 15:22 British Summer Time 15 September 2017

That ends an excellent game at New Road.

Leicestershire gave it a pretty good go, scoring 624 runs and still coming out on the losing side.

Callum Parkinson deserves a mention too with 10 wickets in the match but Worcestershire knock Nottinghamshire off top spot.

Joe Clarke will not be the Worcestershire player that hits the winning runs which will take the side top of Division Two.

He falls with eight runs still required.

  19. 50 runs

for Luke Wright and teapublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 15 September 2017

    Sussex 271 & 236-3 v Derbyshire 338 & 322-8 dec

An eighth four of the innings brings up Luke Wright's second 50 of the match.

    Can Sussex still do this?

Stiaan van Zyl (76 not out) hits two more fours of his own and things are really starting to get interesting.

Sussex head for tea needing another 154 runs at 4.28 runs per over.
