    Surrey 211 & 407-9d v Hampshire 147 & 218-7 (78 overs)

A real mixed bag from Scott Borthwick - some full-tosses and a horrible long-hop in his first two overs. Maybe not the way to take these final three wickets.

  2. Quiet so farpublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

No wickets in the opening few overs around the country. How long will these games last?

    Surrey 211 & 407-9d v Hampshire 147 & 212-7 (75 overs)

So then, that was lunch. I hope you enjoyed it. Now it's time to return to the cricket.

Who will be first to wrap up a win - Surrey, Derbyshire, or perhaps Glamorgan? We're about to find out.

  5. Notts won't panic after defeatpublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

    Yorkshire (256 & 334) beat Nottinghamshire (188 & 238) by 164 runs

"I think I’ve been through every emotion as captain in two games," Nottinghamshire skipper Steven Mullaney told BBC Radio Nottingham.

"Here we’ve been outplayed by Yorkshire. We weren’t good enough and that’s the bottom line.

"We’ve only had one fifty in four goes, so the batters need to work hard this week and when we go to Worcester we need to put them under some pressure.

"I’m not in any way panicking or anything, I think we are in a good place and think we’ll play well over the next three games.”

  6. Heading towards a draw at Grace Roadpublished at 13:31 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

    Sussex 438-8d & 100-2 (36 overs) v Leicestershire 422-9d

    Adrian Harms
    Sports reporter, BBC Sussex

It's looking increasingly likely that a flat pitch at Grace Road will be the winner, with no sign of significant turn to encourage the spinners.

There was an intriguing battle between Mohammad Abbas, who bowled a wonderful spell this morning in which he desrved more than the wicket of Phil Salt, and the Sussex opener Luke Wells who battled away for 47 balls and over an hour before he scored a run.

However, with the shackles off Wells has batted himself into form reaching lunch on 36 not out.

  7. Glamorgan favourites despite docile pitchpublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

    Gloucestershire 236 & 239-7 (75 overs) v Glamorgan 526-9d

    Nick Webb
    BBC Wales Sport

Gloucestershire frustrated Glamorgan for most of the final morning as they lost just two wickets in the session while adding 106 runs.

Ryan Higgins made a career-best 61 before falling lbw to Michael Hogan while Kieran Noema-Barnett played on to Lukas Carey for 12.

Glamorgan thought they had dismissed James Bracey when the patient youngster pulled Hogan and Shaun Marsh claimed the catch, but the umpires were not sure whether it carried and Bracey remains unbeaten on 68.

Glamorgan are still big favourites to complete the win with the home side still 51 runs behind, though the pitch remains docile as ever.

  8. Derbyshire closing in on victorypublished at 13:24 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

    Derbyshire 265 & 333-3d v Middlesex 157 & 166-7 (58.3 overs)

    Dave Fletcher
    BBC Radio Derby Sport

Derbyshire took four wickets in the morning session - two early on and two close to lunch as they close in on their first home win since September 2014.

Hardus Viljoen and Duanne Olivier picked up the early ones with Luis Reece and Wayne Madsen striking late.

Paul Stirling offered the most resistance as he made 42 - Middlesex's highest score of the game - but the end does not appear to be too far away.

  9. Race on at the Ovalpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

    Surrey 211 & 407-9d v Hampshire 147 & 212-7 (75 overs)

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

Amar Virdi has impressed a few over the last couple of days. He has the best figures of his embryonic career having added Rilee Rossouw and Kyle Abbott this morning to his two wickets yesterday afternoon.

Liam Dawson dragged Jade Dernbach back onto his stumps, but amongst those wickets Sam Northeast has looked pure quality, moving to his first Hampshire half-century.

After lunch we wait to see what will arrive first. Will it be the final three wickets Surrey need, Northeast's century or the royal baby?

I'm afraid the Duchess has rather stolen your thunder there, Mark.

  10. Coad thrilled to help Yorkshire off to first winpublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

Ben Coad will have caught a few eyes around the country with his 10-wicket match haul for Yorkshire in their 164-run win against Nottinghamshire.

But, the 20-year-old was modestly playing down his role in the win earlier this morning and his individual prospects for the campaign.

"It's a massive start for us. You always want to start well and to get that first win for us is huge," he told BBC Radio Leeds.

"We had a tough start early on day one, so to come back strong was very satisfying."

On his own match figures of 10-130: "You always want to get some wickets under your belt early season. To do it with a six-fer here is massively exciting.

"Hopefully it will settle me in for the rest of the season.

"People have been saying there's pressure on me this season, but I've taken the confidence into this year knowing I can do it again."

    Surrey 211 & 407-9d v Hampshire 147 & 212-7 (75 overs)

So it's three wickets in the morning session for Surrey as Chris Wood sees off Amar Virdi's final over before lunch.

Three more needed for the hosts. Sam Northeast is unbeaten on 65.

  16. wicket

WICKET Simpson (lbw b Madsen) 24published at 13:01 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

    Derbyshire 261 & 333-3 dec v Middlesex 157 & 166-7 (target 438)

Wicket time at Derby right on the stroke of lunch.

Wayne Madsen's come on to bowl to try and speed up the hosts' over rate and he picks up a wicket in the process.

John Simpson gets caught on the crease on the back foot and has to go leg before.

Derbyshire will come back after the interval needing just three more wickets to win.

  17. dropped catch

Sharp chance for Borthwickpublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

    Surrey 211 & 407-9d v Hampshire 147 & 209-7 (74 overs)

Scott Borthwick has the helmet on at first slip so that tells you how close he is. Sam Curran draws the edge from Chris Wood with a full ball and it flies to Borthwick's left-hand side like a bullet. He stops it but can't catch it.

  18. Hampshire playing for lunchpublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

    Surrey 211 & 407-9d v Hampshire 147 & 208-7 (73 overs)

Chris Wood is the new man and he's getting plenty of opportunities to practise his forward defensive.

The Hampshire number nine has a first-class average of 24 and has a best of 105*, so he can play.

  19. Lunch approachingpublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

Surrey closing in on a win it seems at The Oval, but I think they'll have to wait until the afternoon session to complete it.

Not long now until lunch though on this final day...
