    Swepson 3-0-28-2

Joe Root is the new man. What a luxury for England to have Jonny Bairstow at six and Moeen Ali at seven.

I'm not quite sure Eoin Morgan needs to be doing that. He's playing well enough not to need to create something. He'll be very disappointed - it was dragged down and he could've conventionally slapped that away.

Silence in Birmingham. Mitchell Swepson's short length really does the trick in this format. Eoin Morgan is trying to reverse-sweep, but the length means he gets under the ball, patting it to deep point.

Love having Buttler open. Gotta give our most destructive batsman an opportunity with the powerplay restrictions.

Which is the nearest pub to Edgbaston? Is it the Edgbaston Taps? Mitchell Swepson back on. He's been bowling flippers and googs.

The one good thing I did on this trip was having a mate with me in the car on the way here. I had to give him the keys, get out and run here. I've never seen traffic like it.

I mean, it's glorious in Birmingham. How many beers must be getting consumed in the Hollies Stand? Are they pulling double screens with the football?

Glenn Maxwell is very lucky that wasn't straight at him because it would've hit him between the eyes. He did not move.

  9. Eng 127-2published at 10.4 overs

Richardson is having a shocker. A wide one is a gift to Morgan, who slashes behind point for four. Australia's bowling figures look like a tax return.

It's fearless cricket. England lost a wicket in that over, Eoin Morgan had to fend his previous ball from Billy Stanlake off his nose and then he does that.

  11. Eng 120-2published at 10.1 overs

Kane Richardson back on. Alex Hales greets him with a cut for four. Have you seen Richardson's dropped catch yet?

It was full and Eoin Morgan caressed it with a load of wrists over cow corner.

Morgan's response. After almost getting one in the teeth, he predicts the full ball and clips it over mid-wicket for a maximum. 18 runs and a wicket from the over.

He's played that well in the end but I don't think he knew much about it.

  16. Eng 109-2published at 9.4 overs

Alex Hales is England's number four. He watches from the other end as Eoin Morgan gets a vicious bumper. Morgan has to glove it off his nose.

Jason Roy just got it a bit high on the bat and he was leaning back so it went straight up and seemed to hang there forever.

Gone this time! Billy Stanlake does what he should have done a while ago. A bouncer to Jason Roy, a hook shot on the splice. Straight up, held at mid-wicket.

  20. Eng 108-1published at 9.2 overs

Overthrows! England get six without the ball leaving the square. Morgan diving to make his ground, a second run. Swepson's wild throw, no one backing up.
