Australia captain Aaron Finch, speaking on Sky Sports: "We thought if we needed 13 or 14 off the over near the end with myself and Ashton then we'd have half a chance but you'e only one mistake away.

"It can get frustrating being starved of the strike but that can happen as an opener.

"We could've bowled better, England came out and put our youngsters under pressure, which is the way they've played all summer. When the ball flies around early, it's tough to keep attacking. But Mitchell Swepson showed the value of a leg-spinner, he bowled excellently on debut.

"If the one-day captaincy role is there, I'd love to do it. But Tim Paine led the team fantastically well through the ODI series and we' didn't back him up as a team. His leadership around the group was second to none."

England looked pretty frantic in the T20s in Australia and New Zealand over the winter, but here they got the template from the ODIs against Australia and carried that on here.

England spinner Adil Rashid, who took 3-27, on TMS: "We've been playing exceptionally well. Batsmen are getting runs, bowlers are getting wickets. To get a big score on the board gives bowlers confidence to practise their skills.

"We're feeling good as a team, so hopefully we can carry that on."
