It's tough for Root whenever England lose but particularly when he doesn't score any runs. In this match his timing wasn't right he was playing and missing more and he got out to a poor shot. He's right that it's critical the players give themselves time to feel right. If Bairstow was to play as just a batsman, I wonder if he'd like to open?

India captain Virat Kohli at the presentation on Sky Sports: "First and foremost we as a team want to dedicate this victory to the flood victims in Kerala. People are going through a lot. This is our bit we can do.

"The victory was much needed and to have a performance that was so clinical is pleasing for me as captain and the management. All in all it was the complete Test match for us.

"There was no need to change anything. At Birmingham it was close. As a batting group we spoke that if we step up we will definitely be on top.

"That is what we did. We dominated this game because we got runs on the board. The bowling group was eager to take those 20 wickets again. It was about the batsmen, what could we do to give them that cushion."

Virat starts his speech at the presentation by dedicating the win to the flood victims in Kerala back in India.

    Great batsman. Classy man.

Second slip is where most catches go and you want your best fielder there. Joe ended up there at the end of this match but I can understand he wants to be at mid-off to talk to his bowlers. He is probably the best second slip we have got so maybe he has got to go there for Southampton.

England captain Joe Root on TMS: "With the slip catching we do a hell of a lot of work in practice and we'll be trying to make sure we get right for the next match.

"We are 2-1 up in the series, it's not all doom and gloom and we have to look at all the good stuff we have done and take that to Southampton.

"It's a hectic series so it is important to get away and have a few days at home, so if the guys want to get away it's up to them. You have to give yourself the chance to be in the right frame of mind."

Lots: Moeen Ali's just scored 200+ and got a six-for. He obviously heard that England were having a bad time.

Methers: You have to bring Vince in - three hundreds this season and are we not playing at his home ground next?

England captain Joe Root on TMS: "To play well in Test cricket consistently you have to be able to defend well. Everyone sees Jos as a very exciting player but what we see is someone who is very adaptable and we saw that throughout that innings.

"He left very well, he had a very clear gameplan against each bowler and that is what batting in Test cricket is all about. Ultimately that is what can get you 400 plus and into winning positions."

Joe Root was very calm there as he talked to Aggers. He answered honestly and well.

As well as saying there is work to do he points out England are still 2-1 up in this series.

Bairstow himself will be saying he might be fit. He's got a week and I'm sure initially he will not be ruling himself out but I can't believe he will play. He certainly won't keep wicket and if you think he is not fit enough to keep wicket he is not fit enough to play at all.

Would you bring Moeen in? Rory Burns, Joe Clarke, James Vince and others have all been mentioned as batting changes.

What would your team be for the fourth Test?

I'll be very surprised if Moeen Ali is not in the England XI for the next Test, he could be in addition to Rashid.

England captain Joe Root on TMS: "It's obviously disappointing after two very good performances. I don't think we were at our best, India played very well and when you are playing against the best side in the world you can't afford a bad day.

"We have already talked about the batting and we will go into great depths to make sure we bounce back. The way Jos and Stokesy played showed what Test cricket is all about."

India could break with tradition and play the same team in the next Test, but I don't think England will. I think the selectors will give Bayliss and Root 13 or 14 names, that will be quite easy. The hard bit will be sorting out the final XI.

Credit to India. They have been by far the better team in this Test.

That is just their seventh Test victory in England.

So it lasted 17 balls. Jimmy Anderson is bamboozled by a delivery from Ashwin and chips the ball up to slip.

There's no massive celebration from India. They've completed their job.

I say Ashwin looks injured but he's coming on for a bowl. Pandya lasts just one over.
