You can see why England went for the review - the ball might well have gone on to hit the stumps.
But KL Rahul just about got his pad outside the line.
A good decision from umpire Kumar Dharmasena.

India were well placed on 325-5, chasing improbable 464 to win

Moeen is generally pretty good with reviews.
Dearie me. Moeen Ali gets one to keep very low and bite out of a foot hole while KL Rahul gets himself in a right mess.
He misses it trying to swish to leg and it hits the pad.
Big appeal. Not given. England call for the review.
Might escape by being hit outside the line.
Ajinkya Rahane slaps a half-volley through the covers but Jos Buttler puts in a fine diving stop.
Sam Curran errs again though and this time Rahane does leather it through the covers for four.
The young gun responds with a well-directed bumper.
Have you seen Australia's Test squad for the upcoming series against Pakistan? If not - here it is...
Tim Paine (c), Ashton Agar, Brendan Doggett, Aaron Finch, Travis Head, Jon Holland, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitch Marsh, Shaun Marsh, Michael Neser, Matthew Renshaw, Peter Siddle, Mitchell Starc.
Right. So a few things here.
Marnus Labuschagne is a stonker of a name. It's up there with all those bizarre US golfer names. Brendan Doggett the fast bowler is also excellent.
There is no Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft for obvious, ball-tampery reasons.
But Australia are still finding (creating?) new reasons not to pick Glenn Maxwell, despite him averaging 50 in Shield cricket last year and being the only batsman beside Smith and Warner to hit a Test century in Asia in the last two years.
It's his lack of first-class centuries, according to coach Justin Langer. Maxwell has hit as many first-class tons (seven) as the selected Travis Head but in 10 fewer games. Go figure.

BBC Sport at The Oval
It feels like there's a collective hangover at The Oval, after the theatrics of yesterday. There's a decent sized crowd watching on, despite it being a Tuesday. Sam Curran is getting plenty of applause from a group in the bottom of the Westminster Terrace as he completes another fine over.
Target 464
Moeen Ali loops one right up there outside off and Ajinkya Rahane tries to cut it and nearly nicks off. Shelve that one, Jinks.
Moeen just getting into his action and India take three singles from the over.

I wouldn't necessarily rule it out.

Would you ever wear a wolly hat indoors?
Moeen Ali is on for a bowl. Can the conqueror of Southampton spin England to victory today?
Before he can start trying, Joe Root tries to have the ball changed but unlike plenty of others in this Test, this cherry does fit through the hoop.
Sam Curran slings another across KL Rahul, beating the outside edge.
The 20-year-old is testing both India batsman with a scrambled seam from over the wicket.
A fine maiden.

Probably selling central heating.

If Glenn McGrath hadn't trodden on that ball in 2005, what would you be doing today?
Stuart Broad continues and Ajinkya Rahane gets a couple of couples, pushing in front of point and then wide of mid-off.
A calm and assured start from the India pair.

Curran is trapping Rahane on the back foot - he should be coming forward. The left-arm angle is a great option to have.
Need 379 runs to win
Niiiice. Sam Curran scrambles the seam and gets it to straighten across Ajinkya Rahane off the pitch, just missing the outside edge.
The Surrey young gun then has Rahane prodding uncertainly outside off again. A very good start to his spell.

I think if you knock on James Anderson's door and tell him he's not going on either tour this winter, you might get something thrown at you. Broad is more likely to be rested for Sri Lanka.
So James Anderson did not claim the record in his first spell.
Here is Sam Curran into the attack...

John Peters: I fell over when putting the cleaner over, landed on my shoulder and broke it. At 2:00 pm on Christmas Day. I was stone cold sober. Honestly. Housework extremely perilous.
Why were you doing housework on Christmas Day?
Stuart Broad, blue tape on that broken rib just about visible through his shirt, runs in once more.
And it's a pearler, just past the edge of KL Rahul's bat.
He goes short and Rahul swivels a firm pull shot out to the deep but there is a man out and it's just a single.
Oohsk. Broad finds his line again and zips the last ball past Ajinkya Rahane's play and miss.
