So India are 167-5 at lunch on day five of the fifth Test at The Oval.

The tourists require a highly unlikely 297 runs to win. England need a much more likely five wickets.

The draw is still in play of course.

Very much the morning after the wild night before so far - KL Rahul has batted beautifully to reach a fine century and frustrated England.

But Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes did remove Ajinkya Rahane and Hanuma Vihari in quick succession and the hosts can now regroup and go again in the afternoon.

    Rahul 108, Pant 12

KL Rahul pushes through point for a single.

Adil Rashid goes round the wicket at Rishabh Pant and gets him just about jabbing his bat down on a yorker-length ball. For some reason Jonny Bairstow appeals for lbw - he middled it!

Pant then fails to pick the googly and the ball flies low under an ugly heave.

But the India keeper survives through to lunch.

Here is the lesser-spotted Adil Rashid for the final over before lunch...

I always think it's a nice kind of day to watch the cricket. There's a big enough crowd to create an atmosphere but still plenty of room to spread yourself out.

England need five wickets to win

Rishabh Pant blocks or leaves the next four balls before he skips down the pitch to launch it into the stands down the ground.

An extraordinary shot - Pant basically had one hand on the bat when he hit it.

Moeen Ali trudges off, while Ben Stokes is laughing behind him. The all-rounder perhaps glad he's not the only one getting carted for six.

Rashid is warming up - he'll get the last over before lunch. Unless he's decided he's warming up to catch the captain's attention.

    Ooooh.

Moeen Ali is on for what should be the penultimate over before lunch.

And he starts by finding KL Rahul's inside edge but the ball flies in a gap well out of reach of Alastair Cook at short leg.

Salman: While Rahul might have changed his game and appearance, his humbleness remains the same. Subdued but graceful celebrations despite a huge achievement, but don't forget it's a dead rubber. Well played, KL.

    BANG!

    Shot of the Test?

  13. Ind 159-5published at 43 overs

    Target 464

But KL Rahul is playing the short stuff beautifully.

He ducks under a couple of bouncers and then waits for the one back of a length, swivelling a pull shot round the corner for four.

A hook to fine leg brings him one more.

So Ben Stokes has one ball at Rishabh Pant - and the India keeper defends.

It's been scintillating batting which has lit up a grey day at The Oval.

There it is! KL Rahul does indeed bring up a fine century with one hit.

Ben Stokes hangs it out short and wide and the India opener flat-bat belts it down the ground for four.

A very watchable innings, full of flair. Tremendous, defiant batting.

That's Rahul's fifth Test century, with four of them abroad. And it only took him 118 balls.

Ben Stokes is not a happy chappy.

He bangs it in short, directed right at KL Rahul and the India opener hooks it fine for four.

Just one hit away from a century now...
