  2. 'Being able to bowl will help Test case'published at 19:18 British Summer Time 27 October 2018

Joe Denly: "It's been a while since I've been in England colours but I'm delighted to be back and contributing.

"There were a few nerves there, but it was more excitement. I've been really looking forward to it.

"The batting was a new experience for me, down the order against one of the best bowlers in the world. It was tricky, but I managed to contribute to get us up to a decent score.

"I land my leg-spinner pretty well. Being mainly a batsman I have a good sense of what the batter will try to do."

On playing in the Test series: "I think being able to bowl will help my case. There are a couple of warm-up games, so hopefully I can perform there to put my name in the hat."

So, that means England have claimed victory in both of the white-ball series.

The Test series starts on 6 November in Galle, although England have two warm-up matches on 30 October and 1 November.

Brilliant stuff from England's two leggies - they never let Sri Lanka get started.

Denly, incidentally, has the best figures by an England spinner in a Twenty20 and the second best by any England bowler. Amazing.

ENGLAND WIN BY 30 RUNS!published at 18:59 British Summer Time 27 October 2018

    Malinga b Denly (SL 157)

Four for Joe Denly, and a convincing win for England!

Almost nine years after his last international appearance, Denly finishes with 4-19 and secures England's victory in this sole T20.

  8. SL 159-9published at 19.5 overs

A single gets Lasith Malinga back on strike.

Sri Lanka need a highly unlikely 31 runs from this final ball...

    Thisara c Roy b Denly 57 (SL 156-9)

A full toss from Joe Denly, and Thisara Perera swings it straight to Jason Roy on the fence.

  11. 6 runs

    SL 156-8published at 19.3 overs

And that's why Lasith Malinga is keeping well out of the way.

Thisara Perera cracks a huge, straight six over Joe Denly's head.

  12. SL 150-8published at 19.2 overs

    Dot ball.

Lasith Malinga is standing so far away from the crease that he's not even in shot.

  13. SL 150-8published at 19.1 overs

A swing and a miss from Malinga, who gets struck on the pad, but that's sliding well down the leg side.

Joe Denly is going to bowl the final over! Excellent.

And Lasith Malinga has taken his helmet off to face him.

50 for Pererapublished at 19 overs

    SL 149-8

Full toss from Sam Curran - and it's carted for six!

That'll be 50 for Thisara Perera, from 28 deliveries. Just the five sixes in there...

  16. 6 runs

    SL 143-8published at 18.4 overs

A terrific bit of fielding from Chris Jordan, stopping the ball on the edge of the boundary and flicking it up to Ben Stokes before he falls over the rope, limits Sri Lanka even further.

Tom Curran then offers up a bit of length and Thisara Perera promptly whips him high into the crowd for six.

It's so wet and dewy out there that the umpires have decided to change the ball.

  18. Postpublished at 18:47 British Summer Time 27 October 2018

Tom Curran will bowl the penultimate over for England.

  19. SL 134-8published at 18 overs

    Need 54 from 12 balls

Chris Jordan bowls his final over, whizzing down a series of low full tosses that Sri Lanka just can't get away.

A four from the final ball is the only mistep in an excellent over.

  20. SL 125-8published at 17 overs

Need 63 runs from 18 balls

Up in the air goes Lasith Malinga, but he somehow manages to spoon the ball between three onrushing fielders.

Full and low from Tom Curran, and Thisara Perera can only bunt it back down the ground for one.
