  1. Eng 191-1published at 24.3 overs

Joe Root slices a cut shot out to the man in the deep for a single and that's the 100 partnership up for him and Jason Roy.

  2. The best England batsman not to have played a Test?published at 21:16 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2019

It's been a sublime innings from Roy. Beautiful ball striking, just what England needed at the start of this run-chase. He must be the best current England batsman to have never played a Test.

I may be going against the grain here, but Gayle played selfish, show-off cricket. How many turned down singles, and how many not turning ones into twos. If he wants to bat 125 balls, he needs to be scoring 175, not 135. Great, you hit 12 sixes, looked great... We'll see at the end... May be embarrassed.

  4. Eng 189-1published at 24 overs

    Roy 118, Root 30

Ashley Nurse slides it down leg and Jason Roy tickles it very fine inside short fine leg.

Unfortunately for West Indies, it's Chris Gayle at short fine leg and the 39-year-old has absolutely no chance of chasing after that and preventing it going for four.

Roy had just enough of his boot back behind the line, bending his foot back just in time.

    On we go.

Now then. Has Bishoo got Roy stumped here?

It's sharp work from Shai Hope to whip off the bails as Roy bends forward and misses with the sweep.

Close but I think Roy was back.

  8. dropped catch

Roy dropped on 107published at 22.2 overs

Nicholas Pooran has had a debut to forget.

After making a duck with the bat, he's now shelled a pretty straightforward chance to remove Jason Roy.

Roy goes to sweep Devendra Bishoo but skies it towards deep mid-wicket.

Pooran has some work to do to get there but does and then spills it. To make matters worse, the ball deflects away for four.

This is just silly good from Jason Roy.

He keeps his balance at the crease superbly and whacks a lofted cover drive into the stands.

That century took Jason Roy just 65 balls with 13 fours and one six.

Not nearly as many sixes but Roy got to three figures in 35 fewer balls than Chris Gayle.

And Jason Roy does indeed do it with a six!

What a shot! What an innings!

The England opener batters Ashley Nurse back over his head and over the ropes.

He swings the bat and rips off his helmet in celebration.

Talking of Oshane Thomas getting pummelled...

Jason Roy stands tall and pulls a short ball in front of square for four.

And then he backs it up with a sumptuous lofted drive over wide mid-off for another boundary.

Barney: Wood, Plunkett and now Thomas, all bowling 140ks plus, getting pummelled. 50-over cricket will be death of the genuine quicks unless the ball/pitches change.

Need 213 more to win from 30 overs

Ashley Nurses continues to be difficult to get away, conceding just five singles.

England have slowed a tad, scoring 26 runs from the last five overs. Can they kick back up a gear?

  19. dropped catch

Roy dropped on 82published at 18.5 overs

It's a very, very tough caught and bowled chance for Jason Holder but technically a drop.

Jason Roy lofts a drive firmly back down the ground and Holder sticks out a hand, the ball flicking off his fingers and away for a single.

Would've been a worldie if he'd clung on.

I gather football is having a right meltdown tonight over technology.

The key is having someone with a pleasant accent saying, "Can you rock and roll that?", while the decision is being made.

Then everyone might chill out. Basic stuff.
