It says a lot about this England team that, even when it got tight in those final 15 overs or so, you sort of assumed they'd still find a way to win.

That is almost the cherry on top of the cake that Ben Stokes - he hasn't been playing well - who needed time in the middle, in a tight situation, where the balance had swung to Pakistan winning took England home with some good blows.

Ben Stokes finishes with 71 from 64 balls, with five fours and three sixes. Such a lot of fun to watch.

    Eng 340-7

    And there it is!

A firm thump of a single from Ben Stokes, and that ensures victory for England. They've sealed this five-match series with a game to spare and, crucially, their star all-rounder has had some much needed time at the crease. Lovely, lovely stuff.

This game almost been the perfect scenario for England. To be put under this pressure with their key all-rounder not out at the end having not been in good form.

A work of the wrists from Adil Rashid for one, and the scores are level...

This has been such a fun chase - which has gone on far longer than I was expecting.

Here's Hassan Ali with the last over.

You feel that is game set and match.

Ben Stokes gave it a fist clench at the non-striker's end.

It wasn't a great over from Junaid. When he is at his best he is better than that.

    Target 341

Oh, and to add insult to injury, Adil Rashid flashes hard at a wide delivery and beats Sarfaraz on his right hand side for four!

16 from the over, and England need three from six balls.

Why has Fakhar thrown that? Rashid was always going to make his ground.

  13. Eng 334-7published at 48.5 overs

    Need 7 from 7 balls

I fear that Sarfaraz is going to implode, here.

Adil Rashid makes a mess of a sweep, Ben Stokes calls him through for a single, the throw at the stumps is wild, and England make the most of it to jog an extra.

  14. Eng 332-7published at 48.4 overs

    Need 9 from 8 balls

Dot ball, a whirl of the wrists from Adil Rashid missing its target.

  15. Eng 332-7published at 48.3 overs

    Need 9 from 9 balls

A single gets Adil Rashid on strike, with England needing a run a ball....

You have seen those taken. Worst case scenario make sure it doesn't go for six.

    WHAT A SHOT!

Oh, this is unreal from Ben Stokes, getting on one foot and flat batting a huge six over deep mid-wicket. The fielder on the boundary tries to palm it back over but that was hit so, so, so hard.

That was like a circus on the boundary.

  19. Eng 325-7published at 48.1 overs

Shot! My word, this is nearly four!

Some absolute carnage on the boundary, one Pakistan fielder sliding to cut off the ball on the boundary, and then the back-up fielder trips over, allowing England to snaffle three.

Rashid has to get bat on ball and get Stokes on strike.
