I did think England would carry World Cup momentum into the Ashes but it's been completely stalled.

Michael Vaughan
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special
Even if you are a bit emotionally drained from the World Cup you really shouldn't be bowled out for 85.
Lead by 47
An edge from Andy Balbirnie - oh, but it's beaten a tumbling Stuart Broad at gully, and that'll be four!
14 July feels like an age ago. Olly Stone gets some of that World Cup feeling back with a lovely delivery that beats Balbirnie's grope forward.
Stone jogs in and Paul Stirling lets this first delivery go zipping past his off stump.
Olly Stone will get us going after tea.

Former Ireland wicketkeeper on BBC Test Match Special
This is my favourite format - I'm a Test cricket badger. I'm really enjoying this.
Here come the players...

I think it's time Martin Bicknell has a third bite of the international cricket cherry.

It's not ideal for England to be going into the Ashes with Jason Roy having only had one match as an opener. But we've got to stick with him - he will find a way.
Facing Tim Murtagh, who can move the ball with such skill, is a nightmare way to start in Test cricket.
England have lost 10 wickets in a session four times in their last 34 Tests.
I've just realised that I worked on all of those games. Amazing. Maybe I'm the flaw in the plan.
You know when it's just not your day?
Cheers, Jack.
Chins up, everyone. There's still 42 overs left in the day...
England fans, just go and watch the highlights of the World Cup final. Things were better then, just 10 days ago.
Keep this tab open in case though.
Here is Amy Lofthouse to steer you through to the close...
Stephan Shemilt
BBC Sport at Lord's
Lord's has been transformed since the World Cup final. Gone are the signs and banners, the bars are stocked with drinks from companies who don't sponsor the ICC, that awful 'Stand By' song isn't being played every five minutes. But, if you look hard enough, there are still tiny leftovers...
I'm hearing that Bob Willis has marked out the start of his long run somewhere in the English channel.
Phil Tufnell
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special
England will be having a stern talking-to, I think.

Right now, I'd take Sidney Barnes and Wally Hammond.

The cricket going so badly a chap behind us has started throwing up!

I don't think it could have gone any better for Ireland. A fantastic bowling display and they lost a couple of early wickets - which you're going to do with a new ball - but these two have chugged together nicely. Root has tell the bowlers to pull their fingers out. They haven't bowled well.
