  1. WI 48-2published at 7.3 overs

    Gayle 33, Pooran 1

Chris Gayle hasn't hit a boundary for a few balls and looks to get on top of the new bowler, menacingly moving around in his crease. A huge sweep at the ball but he doesn't connect. A good delivery from Wahab beats him on the outside.

Gladiatorial when Gayle is out there.

Wahab Riaz is coming on for Pakistan. Back in the game.

    Ex-England spinner on TMS

It seems like Chris Gayle is going to be more circumspect when Mohammad Amir is bowling. He is very respectful when he realises a bowler is going well.

  4. WI 48-2published at 7 overs

    Gayle 33, Pooran 1

Nicholas Pooran is the new batsman, the Windies need just 60 to win. He nudges a single and gets Chris Gayle on strike, sound advice.

Mohammad Amir is rattling in, he has 2-13. Take the positives.

This was a shot of a man in very bad form and low on confidence. He just hung the bat out there, not sure whether to leave or not. Too early to write Pakistan off here...?

  6. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 6.2 overs

    Bravo c Babar b Amir 0 (WI 46-2)

Good ball! Mohammad Amir cramps Darren Bravo for room and zips one through at pace, it's just a tentative push from Darren Bravo and he pushes it straight to slip.

The slimmest of slim chances for Pakistan?

That was literally slapped! 88mph it came and he made it look so easy. West Indies' short ball really reared up, whereas some of these from the Pakistan bowlers are sitting up in that hitting range.

GC Cricket: What's the record for the quickest World Cup chase?

Sri Lanka needed just 4.4 overs to chase 37 to beat Canada in 2003.

Canada's 36 all out is also the lowest score in World Cup history.

  10. WI 46-1published at 6 overs

    Gayle 33, Bravo 0

Better bowling, Hassan Ali restricts Chris Gayle of any width and finds a sliver of an edge, but soft hands for a big man, Gayle guides it short of slip.

Four more! Dismissive again from Gayle, swiped an 88mph ball to the fence. Ali has gone for 34 off three...

  11. WI 42-1published at 5.3 overs

    Gayle 29, Bravo 0

Four more to the Universe Boss, stand and deliver stuff from Chris Gayle. No foot movement at all, just chops one away to the fence. Hassan Ali is getting some treatment.

  12. How's stat?!published at 13:14 British Summer Time 31 May 2019

It feels like Pakistan are playing with 12 players - the energy the fans are bringing, the drama.

  14. WI 38-1published at 5 overs

    Gayle 25, Bravo 0

Darren Bravo is the new batsman for the Windies. Not too shabby.

Mohammad Amir is called for a wide, loudly booed by the crowd as West Indies bowled many, many short balls in their innings. That was well over head height though.

West Indies need 68 to win. Chris Gayle refuses a single.

That's probably the biggest cheer of the day as Pakistan claim their first wicket.

The catch was pretty difficult. He ended up having to take the ball over his shoulder. Amir has actually bowled pretty well today under the circumstances. He's tried changing things up, trying to adapt. It might not work out today but it's important to get these skills or early in the tournament.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 4.3 overs

    Hope c Hafeez b Amir 11 (WI 36-1)

Something for the legions of Pakistan fans to cheer! Shai Hope goes for another big one and he's caught by a sprawling Mohammad Hafeez.

That's a very fine stroke, just elevating his bat. West Indies are romping home and there's a simmering Gayle at the far end.

  19. WI 36-0published at 4.2 overs

    Gayle 24, Hope 11

West Indies have got a train to catch. Shai Hope slaps Mohammad Amir through cover for a classic four. That was a fine shot.

This will be done in time for Escape to the Country.
