  1. 'Close to a perfect performance'published at 17:41 British Summer Time 11 July 2019

    BBC Test Match Special

England captain Eoin Morgan on TMS: "If you offered me that [reaching the final] after we had been knocked out of the 2015 World Cup I wouldn't have believed you. It sums up how far we have come in the last four years. Everyone in the changing room, the squad all of the coaches, the backroom staff should take a huge amount of credit.

"Today was close to a perfect performance, right from the two bowlers up front. Chris Woakes and Jofra Archer bowled a hell of a spell. They put pressure on with early wickets and allowed us to stay on the front foot."

  2. 'Strauss the visionary of the team'published at 17:38 British Summer Time 11 July 2019

Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special

Andrew Strauss was the visionary of this one-day team. He stuck with Eoin Morgan after the last World Cup and changed the contracts. I can't wait for Sunday.

  4. 'It's amazing'published at 17:35 British Summer Time 11 July 2019

More from Chris Woakes: "I don't think it was a bad wicket. We found the right length and wickets at the top meant they had to rebuild and we kept the pressure on. We got off to a flier and were chasing a relatively small total, that's the difference.

"We try not to look at what people are saying - we could've bowled fuller at Lord's and got it a bit wrong but that's a long time ago now. We came into the knockouts in good form, with good momentum and want to kick on.

"It hasn't sunk in that we're in a World Cup final and hopefully we can go all the way.

"We were tipped as favorites so it was important to get to the semi-final in the first place and then to win this in this fashion against this Australia side on the best ground in the world is amazing."

In any team you need different characters. You look at Chris Woakes, he is the leader of the bowlers and calms them down. Joe Root is the same with the batting unit.

Australia captain Aaron Finch: "We had to have a lot things go right for us [when defending 224]. We had to take our chances and bowl them out. We tried to take wickets but when you are aggressive with the ball and they are aggressive with the bat things can happen very quickly."

With Jofra Archer coming around it knocked the balance off the other England bowlers. It probably took Chris Woakes a couple of games to get used to that and he has responded magnificently.

More from Chris Woakes on TMS: "I was disappointed with my start but after that I got it right, we knew we had to get their openers out quickly and we did.

"The pitch looked a belter, we would have batted but it looks like a good toss to lose now. Until we needed 20 to win off 20 overs I still wasn't sure!

"You can never judge a pitch until you've both bowled on it. We have tried not to think about getting to the final, it hasn't sunk in yet."

    Michael Vaughan

The wicket of Aaron Finch first ball was a bitter blow for Australia.

England were outstanding with ball and it ended up as a good toss lose. England played with so much dominance and finesse. In the field they were electric. They had great plans to all of the batsmen. In the last three games we have seen the team that we had seen in the last two years in ODI cricket.

  17. Man of the matchpublished at 17:25 British Summer Time 11 July 2019

England bowler Chris Woakes: "I'm pretty speechless. It was an incredible performance from the whole team. It started with the bowling performance and then the way they knocked that off was outstanding.

"There were some nerves around this morning but that's natural going into a semi-final. The way we produced the goods just showed how good we are and where we are at as a team.

"I just got my length wrong for the first ball - there were a bit of nerves and a world class player in David Warner is going to put that away. I got my length right after that and felt good."
