Only 50 singles so far today. Perhaps if there is one area of England's game they might be a bit more attentive to it is that.
Unsurprisingly, New Zealand have taken the new ball straight away.
Trent Boult is ready to go. This is a crucial period in this Test match.
Ben Stokes really is using his full repertoire in the last half an hour or so. He goes for a conventional sweep this time and adds another couple to his total.
The partnership is up to 78 off 163 balls.

It was all going on there.
All going on here!
There's a big appeal from Neil Wagner and New Zealand for lbw as Joe Denly is rapped on the pad from a big inswinger. There was a massive inside edge, though.
Denly, looking for a quick single, takes a few paces down the track before Ben Stokes sends him back.
Tom Latham hares in from cover but his looping throw misses the stumps comfortably allowing England to pick up an overthrow.
That's better from England. Good positive running as Joe Denly drops one into the off side and Ben Stokes sprints through for a single.
The mix of intent and patience has been spot on in the last 20 minutes or so.
Ben Stokes is bringing out all the shots now as he picks up a couple with a well-timed reverse sweep to end the over.
England have added 35 runs in the last six overs.

It was catchable but extremely difficult. Only every now and again will someone catch one of those.
Joe Denly prods forward and it bounces towards Tom Latham at short leg but he couldn't quite get his hands down in time and the ball cannons into his toes.
It would have been spectacular.

England have dug in and earned the right to score these runs against tired bowlers.

These are very useful runs for England before the new ball.
It genuinely feels like Neil Wagner has been bowling non-stop for the last two sessions.
He's lost a bit of control in this session and thrown in the odd bad delivery and there's another one. It's wide again from the left-armer and Ben Stokes smartly upper cuts away for four.
Oh, Neil. I told you you couldn't bowl there to Ben Stokes! It's short but at chest height and Stokes just crunches a pull shot through mid-on for four. That is one hell of a shot.
Excellent comeback though from Wagner as a slower ball yorker is well dug out by Stokes.
Stokes is looking good. Ominous signs for New Zealand.

You feel the next hour could shape the outcome of this Test match.
Ben Stokes flicks to deep mid-wicket and strolls through for a leisurely single before Joe Denly blocks out the rest of the over.
Four overs until the new ball is due now.

England are going well here. The second new ball will be an important period but in the last two or three overs, England have wrestled some momentum back from New Zealand.
Despite getting a little bit of tap in his last over Mitchell Santner will continue.
Ben Stokes rocks back and carves him through the covers for a couple first up.

It has been a hard-fought day in perfect batting conditions.
Denly 64, Stokes 31
Is there anything better than a beautifully timed on-drive?
Ben Stokes plays them almost as well as anyone too. He just stands tall and caresses Neil Wagner back down the ground for his third boundary. There's nothing flamboyant about it, he just helps it back the ground.
He looks like he's carrying on where he left off this summer.
Pakistan are now 94-5 against Australiua in the first Test at the Gabba. Unravelling quickly.
The full scorecard for that game is here.

If England can get after Mitchell Santer until the new ball, they can wrestle a bit of momentum their way.
