It's a chance, but a difficult one nonetheless. Sibley's heart will have been in his mouth.
It's hard to call it a dropped catch when he didn't get his hand to it.
Oh, missed opportunity for New Zealand!
Dom Sibley was expecting it to spin and sort of played within it and gets a thin inside edge onto thigh pad. The ball ricochets behind and it hits BJ Watling on the thigh and he can't quite gather the rebound.
Hands on head for the Kiwis.

Wagner is trying to be positive but is unthreatening.
That's a pretty dross first over from Neil Wagner in truth.
He sends two bouncers down the leg side. England will take that all day long at this stage.
The chat on the cricket desk has turned to whether the tourists can survive the day without losing a wicket.

New Zealand's keeper and slips are too far back. It's not nice to be further forward than you feel comfortable with, but you can't have the ball dropping short of you like it did with Burns earlier.
And again.
This time Rory Burns pulls, along the ground, to deep square leg for a single.
Neil Wagner loves a short ball, doesn't he?
He starts with one and Rory Burns does well to weave out the way.
Neil Wagner is going to replace Colin de Grandhomme for New Zealand.
BJ Watling is back out there and keeping, by the way.

At this stage as a fielding team, you need something to kickstart you - something special in the field etc. You know the pitch is placid because you've just racked up 600.

It's a disappointing start by New Zealand.
Hmm that's a curious shot from Rory Burns.
Santner throws wide one outside the off stump and Burns tries to drag it across to the leg side with an aggressive sweep shot but literally hits it straight into the ground.
Not sure about that.
Mitchell Santner will continue after the drinks break.
That first hour has gone as well as England could ask for really.
There have been a couple of scares, with Rory Burns edging just short of the keeper and slip while Dom Sibley has played and missed at a couple but they've survived and that's the key thing for England.

There's been a couple of close calls but England are doing well here.
That's a gimme from Colin de Grandhomme. He floats one down the leg side and Rory Burns just flicks it down to fine leg for his second boundary.
Another over ticked off for England. There are 13 left in the day.

The footholes and the dryness outside Rory Burns' off stump when facing the left-arm spin of Mitchell Santner will play on his mind a little bit.
Oh that's close. Rory Burns plays for spin but it goes straight on and with Burns prodding forward, it goes just past the outside edge.
Santner just stands there and rubs his chin. He can't believe he hasn't taken a wicket in his opening two overs.
Rory Burns flicks through square leg to pick up three more.
England have another 15 overs to see out tonight. This is becoming a solid start.
The gaffer's relaxed...
