Charlesworth gets one more to cover.

  3. Surrey 402-6 dec v Notts 23-0published at 16:41 British Summer Time 25 September 2019

    Mullaney 9, Slater 10

No wickets yet but Morne Morkel is looking very dangerous here.

Lots of pace and carry off his bowling. Three slips and a gully are in place.

Mullaney runs the ball to third man for three, riding the bounce nicely.

Umpires Rob Bailey and Alex Wharf need only a few moments of their latest inspection to decide no play will be possible on day three between Somerset and Essex.

And that appears to be that for Somerset's title chances, barring a miraculous bowling performance if play is possible on the final day.

The task for Essex is simple. Don't lose 20 wickets in three sessions and they will be crowned county champions for the eighth time.

But what a crushing disappointment it is that such a thrilling summer of cricket looks to be ending literally as a damp squib.

The batsmen trade singles off Rob Keogh at the other end.

In the next over, bowled by Luke Procter, Van Buuren gets to his 50 with two driven through the off side.

    82 balls and eight fours.

  6. Taunton umpires take another lookpublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 25 September 2019

    Somerset 203 v Essex 25-0 - start delayed

Not sure what to make of umpires Rob Bailey and Alex Wharf both carrying umbrellas - rolled up admittedly - for the latest inspection at Taunton.

It's been Wharf alone who has been thus accoutred for most of their earlier visits to the middle. It is dry overhead at the moment, though.

No innings forfeits so a draw is surely inevitable.

That means Notts will end the season without a Championship win.

Morne Morkel will bowl to Steven Mullaney.

Ben Slater is at the non-strikers end.

Rain stops play at Bristolpublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 25 September 2019

    Gloucs 130-6 v Northants

A bit of rain at Bristol now. As if we haven't had enough of that.

It might only be a short shower but it's enough to take the players off the field.

Good resistance by Ben Charlesworth (49*) and Graeme van Buuren (41*).

50 runs added in the mini session for no wicket.

  19. Mike spearheads Leics chargepublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 25 September 2019

    Leicestershire 155 v Lancashire 105-7 - tea

Lancashire survive the final four overs before tea without any further damage, but it's been a good session for Leicestershire, who have picked up six wickets, including a spell of 3-22 by Ben Mike.

They have only won one game all season, that's why they are bottom of Division Two, while newly crowned champions Lancashire have yet to taste defeat.

There are 33 overs left today, with the Red Rose county trailing by 50. Steven Croft is 19 not out, and Liam Hurt is on six.
