How has Poonam Yadav not got a Women's Big Bash League contract yet?

I love the round-the-wicket angle from Gayakwad to the two left-handers. The ball just scooted through her legs and onto the stumps.

    Madavi b Gayakwad 12 (SL 42-2)

    Bowled through the legs!

Harshitha Madavi shuffles across in front of her stumps against Rajeshwari Gayakwad and tries to clip it away.

But she only gets a fine edge on it and the ball sneaks through the pads as she turns.

It's Sri Lanka's game so far. Three overs from the off-spinner in the powerplay means these two left-handers will now face lots of leg-spin and left-arm spin now, with the ball turning towards them.

Sri Lanka will be hoping for plenty more of this...

  8. SL 42-1published at 7 overs

An intriguing battle between Poonam Yadav and Chamari Attapatu.

And it's Attapatu who wins this early round - getting a bit of width last up and crashing it away through point for four.

Diminutive leg-spinner Poonam Yadav enters the attack.

The sun's out over Junction Oval, there's not a cloud in the sky... and we're up here shivering!

India have removed one opener and dropped the other now.

  12. SL 35-1published at 6 overs

Harshitha Madavi sweeps fine for two before sneaking through for a leg bye.

Chamari Attapatu picks out a fielder with a drive off the last.

That works for India, keeping the Sri Lanka skipper off strike.

Bhatia's been so good in this competition so far, she'll be disappointed with that.

  14. dropped catch

Attapatu dropped on 20published at 4.4 overs

A tough chance but India could well rue dropping Sri Lanka's captain.

Chamari Attapatu gets a thick edge on the cut shot and India wicketkeeper Taniya Bhatia can't cling on behind.

  15. SL 30-1published at 4.3 overs

Slow left-armer Rajeshwari Gayakwad is on and Chamari Attapatu belts it through deep square leg for four.

It's always hard as a fielding side when you know Atapattu's so strong over mid-off. How long before you take the fielder back? I'd like to see Pandey go round the wicket - as she can't give her width, but can't give her length either.

  17. SL 25-1published at 4 overs

Shot! Chamari Attapatu belts it down the ground once more - one bounce and four.

I still think Pandey could have a slip in here.

  19. SL 18-1published at 3.1 overs

Harshitha Madavi plays late with deft hands to guide Shikha Pandey's first ball past the dive of short third man for four.

You want to get wickets in the powerplay - but leaving Atapattu at the non-striker's end makes it difficult for her.
