That's a disappointing shot, we've seen turn in the first over and she tried to hit it over extra cover, against the spin. That's too loose for me in the powerplay, especially with Chamari Atapattu going well at the other end - a poor shot, and it puts pressure on.
Thimeshani c Gayakwad b Sharma 2 (SL 12-1)
Umasha Thimeshani never looked settled and falls tamely.
The Sri Lanka opener skips down but doesn't get to the pitch of the ball before flaying a loose drive.
The ball skews off a thick outside edge and loops to Rajeshwari Gayakwad at backward point.
Deepti Sharma makes the breakthrough. A very ordinary stroke, mind.

That was so clean off the bat. Both fielders were up inside the ring, so it's almost a free hit if you go over the top. But even if the fielders were back, it would still have been four as she hit it so well.
Chamari Atapattu faces a couple of dot balls before advancing to clip off her pads for one.
Umasha Thimeshani then misses trying to guide one down to third man. Bit of extra lift on that one from Shikha Pandey, a nice cross-seam delivery.
Thimeshani does then guide it away for one.
Shot! Atapattu finishes off the over in sublime style - a lofted drive straight down the ground for four.

Shikha Pandey's in the angry fast bowler category of this tournament, along with New Zealand's Lea Tahuhu and England's Katherine Brunt.
Katherine Brunt's one of the nicest people in the planet off the pitch, but she's always at you on the field.
India's lone seamer Shikha Pandey will take the second over.
Chamari Atapattu misses on the cut before tapping the last into the leg side to pick up a single.

Deepti Sharma pitched it outside leg stump, and Atapattu was good enough to sweep it fine.
Sri Lanka captain Chamari Atapattu is off the mark with a boundary, getting low to sweep fine round the corner for four.

Always a good sign as a spinner when the first one turns.
We didn't see a lot of sweeping in the first game, and that's a good option on wickets like this.
Fine start by Deepti Sharma.
Umasha Thimeshani prods at one that beats the outside edge.
Off-spinner Deepti Sharma will open the bowling.
Umasha Thimeshani on strike.
Here we go...

I wonder whether they're reading too much into the wicket. Even though it's low and slow, 120's not going to be enough. You probably need 140.
Everybody's bowled too wide to Chamari Atapattu, allowing her to free her hands.
Anthems done.
India take their fielding positions.

It's going to be a test of spin. I've just walked out of a press conference where New Zealand's Leigh Kasperek said it was slow and low. It'll be interesting to see how India use their one pace bowler and rotate the spinners around her.
A bit of news from the other group - Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament after fracturing her thumb while attempting a ramp shot against England's Katherine Brunt yesterday.
She's been replaced in the squad by Nahida Khan, with opener Javeria Khan taking over as skipper.
This is how it happened:
India: Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana, Taniya Bhatia (wk), Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Deepti Sharma, Veda Krishnamurthy, Shikha Pandey, Radha Yadav, Poonam Yadav, Rajeshwari Gayakwad.
Sri Lanka: Chamari Atapattu (c), Umesha Thimashini, Hasini Perera, Hansima Karunaratne, Shashikala Siriwardene, Harshitha Madavi, Anushka Sanjeewani (wk), Nilakshi de Silva, Kavisha Dilhari, Sathya Sandeepani, Udeshika Prabodhani.

I don't think it's a batter's paradise out there, but I don't think it's a 91-run pitch either.
Perhaps it's time for teams to play around with some batting order changes, or some different bowling combinations.
