Australia review! It hit Suzie Bates hit high on the pad but would it have clipped the top of the stumps?

    The umpire didn't think so.

  2. NZ 51-1published at 7.3 overs

Jonasson's replacement is leg spinner Georgia Wareham. The 20-year-old's line is wayward. It's tickled down to fine leg for four. Time for Aussies to get nervous?

  3. Postpublished at 06:05 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March 2020

Jess Jonasson is shipped out of the attack. It was the spinner who took the early wicket...

It would have been easy for Sutherland to go down on one knee and take it conservatively, but the coaches are asking the players to be positive, aggressive and to back their hands. It didn't work this time but it will do in the future.

  5. NZ 45-1published at 7 overs

    Need 111 more to win

Another misfield! Australia have been untidy. Annabel Sutherland thinks she's in the game for a run out but takes her eye off the ball. It bobbles through her legs and goes for a boundary. Who will handle the pressure of this winner takes all game the better? You could argue New Zealand have been better so far in this innings.

The New Zealand team needs to recognise the value of Sophie Devine and bat around her and with her.

  7. NZ 40-1published at 6.2 overs

Australia send out some more protection with the powerplay over. Seamer Nic Carey is on for a bowl. One of these two New Zealand batters needs to do what Beth Mooney did for Australia.

  9. NZ 39-1published at 6 overs

Jess Jonasson's first bad ball is punished by Sophie Devine who flicks it out of the reach of short fine leg to the boundary. Jonasson lets out a big groan after the ball races away.

It's in Australia's favour at the moment; they've bowled well in the powerplay.

  11. NZ 31-1published at 5 overs

    Devine 7, Bates 5

Despite the boundary there's still only six runs from the over. That won't be enough for New Zealand.

  12. NZ 30-1published at 4.4 overs

Suzie Bates has already pulled off something special in this match - the catch to dismiss Beth Mooney below - but now it's runs she needs.

After failing to score from her first three balls the right-hander skips down and hacks Perry through mid-wicket for four.

Rachel Priest had looked dangerous but is back in the shed now...

  15. NZ 25-1published at 4 overs

    Target 156

Suzie Bates, the number one ranked batter in Women's T20 cricket, is in at three. You feel a lot of these runs will have to be scored by these two.

Ellyse Perry is back into the attack.

I don't think it gets any more plumb than that one. Good communication from the batters not to review it.

    Priest lbw b Jonassen 17 (NZ 25-1)

That's very, very (very, very, very) out. Rachel Priest is trapped plumb lbw by Jess Jonassen who has made an excellent start with the ball.

    That should settle Australian nerves.

  18. NZ 25-0published at 3.4 overs

Jonassen has started well. Just two singles from her first four balls.

Australia turn to the spin of Jess Jonassen early.

This is exactly what New Zealand need from Rachel Priest - she has reduced the pressure on Sophie Devine. A good partnership is forming. They'll be pleased with the first three overs.
