  1. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 17.1 overs

    Mooney c Bates b Peterson 60 (Aus 122-4)

How about that for a catch! Brilliance from Suzie Bates sees Beth Mooney on her way. Mooney targets the straight boundary again and looks to have enough on it but Bates runs around from her position at long-on and takes a running catch above her head.

    Great stuff.

  2. Aus 122-3published at 17 overs

    Mooney 60, Perry 8

Ellyse Perry's troublesome hip, which made her an injury doubt for this game, looks to be fine as she sprints a three.

Three overs to go. Australia will still be eyeing 150.

  3. Aus 118-3published at 16.4 overs

New Zealand have a line of four fielders square on the off-side ring. Mooney chips one over them for a couple. Leigh Kasperek has kept things tight. Can she finish her over?

A few more of these and Australia will be on for a very good score...

  5. Aus 114-3published at 16 overs

    Mooney 56, Perry 4

New Zealand need more wickets if they are going to really pull this back. Perry is happy to give herself time to get in for now, knocking singles to fielders in the deep.

I hope Beth Mooney changes gears now. We know she can play the anchor role but she needs to wind it up now because Australia have got so much depth. Australia will be looking at 160 now.

  7. Aus 109-3published at 15 overs

All the talk was about Perry's fitness before this game but so far it has been the understated Beth Mooney's knock that has done the job for Australia.

She may not be one of Australia's star names but she keeps on going. Mooney adds another four through the off side and there's a grunt of anger from the bowler.

One of the biggest cheers of the day greets Ellyse Perry's arrival to the middle.

That's a really good piece of bowling - Leigh Kasperek knew Ash Gardner wanted to come down the wicket so she took all the pace off the ball.

  10. wicket

    Gardner b Kasperek 20 (Aus 104-3)

New Zealand needed that! Ash Gardner comes charging down the pitch but misses and sees her middle stump knocked back.

Beth is in her best form right when Australia needed her to be.

  12. 50 runs

50 for Mooneypublished at 14.3 overs

Beth Mooney moves to 50 with a single down the ground. She has reached the landmark from 42 balls.

A little wave of the bat and a firm handshake. Still work to be done.

    She's looked in great touch...

Suzie Bates is rolling back the clock and moving like she's in her 20s. The ability to save two there might prove crucial.

  14. Aus 102-2published at 14.1 overs

Excellent fielding from Suzie Bates saves a boundary on the long-on rope. Really good.

  15. Aus 100-2published at 14 overs

"Yesss, Meelie" says Rachel Priest behind the stumps. Kerr loves a googly. Gardner thinks the best plan is just get down and sweep hard and a single takes Australia to 100.

This partnership is worth 48 at better than a run a ball.

All of a sudden, the build-up of pressure is gone and Australia are flowing again.

Mooney was getting a little bogged down and those two boundaries have come at a good time.

  18. Aus 97-2published at 13 overs

    Mooney 48, Garnder 15

Sophie Devine is using her experience, bowling wide when Beth Mooney tries to attack with protection on the off side. It works once but then Devine is called for a very harsh wide. That's a poor call from the umpire.

Devine's mood doesn't improve when Mooney finds two boundaries to end the over. 11 runs from the over when it had been looking so good.

  19. Aus 86-2published at 12 overs

    Mooney 39, Gardner 14

Oh but that is a beauty from the New Zealand leggie. Gardner is beaten by one that turns and bounces over off stump. Wicketkeeper Rachel Priest - never one to stay too quiet behind the stumps - yelps, loudly.

  20. Aus 85-2published at 11.2 overs

Amelia Kerr is back into the attack but the 19-year-old leg-spinner is yet to find her groove. A wide and a full toss are served up. Kerr is lucky to get away with the latter.
