Do you miss seeing Steve Smith fidget at the crease, Jimmy?
Argh. England don't want to let Australia get out of this hole. Curran's first ball is too short, allowing Steve Smith to pull into the leg side. It should probably be stopped on the rope but Tom Banton lets the ball squirm through.

I think you have to keep seam going. We've seen movement off the pitch. With two right-handers at the crease, Tom Curran is the right option.
Archer is being saved for later now. Tom Curran comes into the attack.
Finch 18, Smith 0
Wood comes within a whisker of a second wicket as Finch tries to smack him but only manages to inside-edge by his stumps. The Aussie skipper gets four for his efforts but it was lucky.

What can Morgan get out of Archer that Root can't? He looks utterly unplayable out there!
Jack, St Albans
Back over to England's other speedster Mark Wood...
The Durham quick goes full and Finch gets an outside edge. The ball races quickly and reaches the third man boundary.

Mark Wood can over-balance and then he doesn't get his feet down in time. It frustrates him a little bit actually but it can happen, especially when you're putting the effort in to bowl at 95mph.

Matt R: This is Archer at his absolute best. When he's in form like this he's as good as anyone in the world.
Finch 8, Smith 0
Finch, still looking uncertain despite that six, gets through Archer's over.

Simon M: All this crumble needs is a bit of rhubarb.
Aaron Finch knows he can't hang around for too long, despite what England are serving up.
He picks on a bit of length and lofts Archer over the leg side. Finch has hit this well. It goes all the way.
NINTY-FIVE POINT EIGHT MILES PER HOUR.
Wheels from Jofra Archer.
But here's Australia's party-pooper in chief, Steve Smith. If ever I needed someone in a crisis I'd go for him or Dumbledore.

Mark Wood just bowled his best ball. You could see the batsman giving himself room and Wood sticks to his guns, bowls his best ball, and nicks behind.

What a start! Pace is doing it for England.
Carey c Buttler b Wood 2 (Aus 3-2)
England are on a roll! Mark Wood finds the edge of Alex Carey and Jos Buttler gobbles up the catch.

That has genuinely cracked me up, Mark. Very good.
Carey pulls Mark Wood in the air, just short of Archer at fine leg.
