James Anderson
England bowler on Test Match Special
Brilliant. When he was scratching around I don't think anyone would have predicted him getting a hundred, but it's been fantastic.
Eng 256-8
And there it is. A century for Sam Billings.
A shining ray of light in a somewhat disappointing day for England.

Although England bat deep, without Stokes you get the feeling the batting lacks some balance. Great game here though!
Mithun, London
A single and Billings will keep the strike and a chance go to three figures.

Earlier on Mark Wood kicked the ball towards the stumps with his left foot and shouted "Ginola!" If it's his right foot he shouts "Shearer!"
Billings 97, Archer 6
Jofra Archer pats it back to Mitchell Starc, England run through for a single. There was not a single there to be taken but Starc is unable pick up and throw cleanly.
A slight stop in play as Sam Billings has a change of helmets after taking that knock. He's one shot away from his century.
James Anderson
England bowler on Test Match Special
The stem guard on the back of the helmet is meant to come off if it's hit. Having said that, it nearly hit the stumps.
Sam Billings plays too early and a short ball clatters him on the helmet, a piece of his headgear flies off and nearly onto the stumps. That would have been some way to be dismissed.
Billings 97, Archer 5
Mitchell Starc is doing what he does best, bowling full and on the feet of this England pair as Billings and Archer only manage three singles from as many balls.
James Anderson
England bowler on Test Match Special
That last ball was a wide for me.
Charles Dagnall
BBC Test Match Special commentator
That's an excellent over.
Another slower ball and Jofra looks like a true tailender he plays all around it. He then manages a single.
Billings needs to score big from the last ball but can't connect with a wide, slower, delivery. The England batsman, on 96, is frustrated it is not given a wide.
This is smart, death bowling from Australia as Pat Cummins sends down two yorkers restrict England to singles, before a slower ball outfoxes Jofra Archer who swipes at thin air.

BBC Test Match Special commentator
That England are even in with a sniff tells you a lot about the innings Billings and Bairstow have played.
A dot ball yorker from Starc to end the over.
England need exactly 13 per over.
James Anderson
England bowler on Test Match Special
He knew what was coming and he plays that shot so well.
Eng need 52 from 26 balls
Archer off the mark with a single and then a brilliant, premeditated, paddle sweep from Billings sends the ball racing to the fine leg boundary.
James Anderson
England bowler on Test Match Special
England want Billings to take as much of the strike as possible. Starc is getting his yorkers in brilliantly.
Billings 91, Archer 0
Pitched up by Mitchell Starc and Billings twice digs it out towards mid-on. He refuses the first single but then takes the second, bringing Jofra Archer on strike to face his first ball.
If only Jonny Bairstow could have hung around a little longer...
