We are waiting for ball tracking. My heart is thumping. never mind Buttler's.

Buttler has to hope this is spinning past off stump. He hasn't hit it.

Oh this is out! Jos Buttler is surely a goner. He reviews but I don't hold out much hope.

Two more twos to England and Jos Buttler. Claps come from the dressing room. A misfield from young Naseem Shah allowed Buttler back for the second.

Greg Holmes: Jos Buttler had a tough time with the gloves but showed his worth in this chase. Woakes is a class act.

  9. Eng 252-7published at 77 overs

    Need 25 more to win

And Buttler keeps the strike with a single. I know he has a Test hundred but this has to be his best knock in the longest format?

England only need 25. They're almost there.

That was a massive shot from Buttler. It was walloped. Now, with no crowds, the fielder will have to go through the seats and try to find the ball.

Huuuuuuge from Jos Buttler! Into the stands.

    It's into the twenties now.

That's a fantastic, diving stop. It was a full-blooded drive but Shan Masood certainly saved four.

  13. Eng 245-5published at 76.4 overs

A stunning stop from Shan Masood at mid-off prevents a certain boundary. Masood doesn't deserve to be on the losing side.

I can't get my head round this. Pakistan need to make something happen They're just going through the motions, having the fielders back. It's too late now.

    Your confidence is admirable, Jenifer.

Chris Woakes has 70 now. Such a good knock. Mohammad Abbas is limbering up. In four overs time he'll get one more burst with the new ball.

Jenifer Moore: Only 34 runs needed and still people are fretting. No faith. Even if we lose a wicket we have four more and that includes Broady. Have people forgotten that

Things are happening. "Catch it," shouts Rizwan as Buttler gets a leading edge.

    I can't take it.

You feel there is another twist in this game because the partnership has slowed down, as it inevitably does when the finishing post comes into view.

  20. dropped catch

    Close!published at 17:52 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

Things are just falling England's way. Buttler now rocks back to slap away a half-tracker but times it horribly and skews the ball in the air.

It's up there for a while, and Shadab is screaming for the catch to be taken, but it falls safely.
