Those two ducks for Morgan and Moeen created a bit of a stir but it showed the strength in depth with Willey coming in to make 47 from 46 balls with five fours and two sixes. So two games played in the Super League, the qualifying event for the 2023 World Cup, and 20 points in the bank for England.

A partnership worth 79 to see England to victory after a little stumble in the middle. They've won convincingly in the end.

Following his unbeaten 67 in the first match, Billings has impressed again.

  5. Eng 210-6published at 32 overs

Another stylish wristy shot from Billings brings him a sixth four and Young will need that cloth hanging out of his back pocket to mop an increasingly furrowed brow. England three runs away.

It's been an interesting day for Josh Little - he suffered some severe punishment early on but he's come back really well. He picked up three good wickets and almost got Ireland back into the game. If he had 30 or 50 more runs to play with...

    Target 213

Another fine hit from Willey, the pull shot goes many a row back and it brings up the 200.

  8. Eng 196-6published at 31 overs

    Target 213

A maiden from Little, his third, 3-60 the 20-year-old finishes with, having had some tap from Bairstow and conceded 35 in his first four.

And Billings has played some fine strokes again.

You feel as though the writing is on the wall for Ireland.

Very useful contribution again from Willey, with bat as well as ball.

  12. Eng 196-6published at 30 overs

Almost a bottom edge as Willey launches a huge pull at Young but no contact and no review, both teams still with their two referrals intact and just 17 needed for England now.

Billings seems very still at the crease - not moving around too much, keeping a still head, picking up line and length very quickly. That's a great shot.

Sam Billings has had a chance to go around the world and play franchise cricket. That will have added to his educaiion as a young batter. You can see the improvements he's made.

I think this is the best I've ever seen Sam Billings bat. Every part of the ground has been attacked by him.

  16. Eng 192-6published at 29 overs

    Target 213

Combative shaven-headed left-arm seamer Little, who had 0-35 from his first four overs, is back for his penultimate over. Delightful off drive again from Billings, the ball rocketing to the rope and the partnership extends to 55.

Great shot from Sam Billings, a very mature knock from him so far. He's come in and read the situation well. Any momentum Ireland seemed to have after that cluster of three wickets has ebbed away.

  18. Eng 186-6published at 28 overs

    Target 213

Young back in the attack and a fine on-drive from Billings brings him a fourth boundary.

  19. Postpublished at 20:03 British Summer Time 1 August 2020

David Willey has played a fine rearguard for England after the loss of three wickets for six.

  20. Eng 179-6published at 27 overs

Shadows lengthening as Singh trundles in, Stirling waiting expectantly in his broadbrimmed hat at slip. Willey patient and time is not the issue, 34 from 138 balls is the requirement.
