You could, of course, have given AB de Villiers the gloves but he seems to be keeping less and less these days and I'd rather let him bat.

MS Dhoni came close with 30% of the vote but his best days seem to be behind him.

No debate from me here. Whether he opens or bats in the middle order - you've gone for the latter - Jos Buttler is the best wicketkeeper-batsman in the world.

It's one for us to keep debating.

Anyway, one of those teammates Mash mentions is in your team at number six...

Ben Stokes isn't even in the top 5 England T20 batsmen (Buttler, Roy, Bairstow, Morgan, Moeen all superior), how can he possibly be squeezing them out here? I know we love him but...

I have outlined my reasoning below. I'm not saying I wouldn't have picked Stokes. I'm just surprised so many did and wonder whether others agree.

I also don't think he was named Wisden cricketer of the year for his T20 performances...

Hamish Arnold: How is picking the Wisden cricketer of the year in a World XI controversial? He is a far better player than his stats suggest, you've deliberately not included his batting strike rate or highest score.

That said, cricket is about more than just numbers.

When you need someone to step up, you know Ben Stokes will be there wanting to be involved.

He can win a game on any front...

Your number five, and the player you selected more than any other, is England's Ben Stokes.

Now, I am absolutely not debating his skills as a cricketer. He is outstanding. One of the world's best.

But, I am just a little surprised so many of you picked him in a T20 XI. Stokes' numbers are nothing special. He has never scored a T20 fifty in international cricket.

It may almost be sacrilege these days but I'm going to say your pick for a number five is the most controversial of the lot...

Our reader CR has gone for some solidity at four. Plenty of firepower too, mind.

If this debate was picking the best T20 batsman ever then AB de Villiers would be right up there.

An incredible, unique player who hits shots that make your jaw drop.

He has done the business in most leagues around the world, including for Middlesex in the T20 Blast in the UK. This 88 from 35 balls last summer was majestic.

Babar could have opened, of course, but he was outdone by Gayle and Warner on that front too. You're the selectors.

Of course Virat made it. He had to. I mean, just look at that average.

His average in international T20 cricket is actually even better, standing at a mind-boggling 50.80.

Kohli's inclusion means there is no place in your team for Babar Azam, the man who sits top of the ICC's T20 batting rankings. Big call.

Good to see Moeen Ali in this team, selected by BBC Sport reader CorneredTiger... but has he done enough to make the final readers' team?

Just to say, you'll see the videos, like the one of a Warner six below, are from ODI cricket rather than T20s. You still get the jist I'm sure.

Warner's inclusion means there is no place for Rohit Sharma who was looking for a clean sweep of Test, ODI and T20 XIs.

The India opener got 22% of the vote. West Indies' Sunil Narine, who has occasionally opened as a pinch-hitter, was picked by 25% of you.
