Aaron Beard gets off the mark in an over from Josh Davey that costs four.
Somerset will be desperate to finish this innings ASAP.
Wheater 12, Beard 0
So close to a seventh wicket for Lewis Gregory. Aaron Beard is beaten twice by balls that nip and bounce but doesn't get a touch.
What's Essex's plan here? Get as many in front as they can I expect. The lead is currently eight.
The have 10 overs left of their first-innings 120.
Wheater 11, Beard 0
Josh Davey has a bowl for the first time this morning and concedes a single to Adam Wheater.
Varun Chopra has just confirmed on 5 Live Sports Extra that Jack Brooks suffered a broken thumb while fielding yesterday. That's why the Somerset seamer's not on the field this morning.

Lewis Gregory has been the pick of the Somerset bowlers taking those six wickets.
It's evenly poised again and the game dictates how Somerset have to go out and play now, they need to set Essex a target.
Gregory 25-5-65-6
End of another successful over for Lewis Gregory.
Aaron Beard is in at 10 for Essex.
Harmer c Overton b Gregory 0 (Essex 303-8)
Six wickets for Lewis Gregory!
It's a beauty from the Somerset paceman... plenty of bounce, nipping away and Simon Harmer fends it to second slip where Craig Overton takes a sharp catch.
Wheater 10, Harmer 0
Maiden from Craig Overton.
How many can Essex get in front? Simon Harmer is pretty handy with the bat - the South African has a couple of first-class centuries under his belt.

Jamie Porter is probably disappointed to lose his middle stump but he'll get his feet up ready for bowling.
I suspect Essex will now play almost in a one-day manner.
Wheater 10, Harmer 0
Just a reminder that Essex have 120 overs in this first innings.
14 left if they can use them up.
Simon Harmer is the new man in.
Porter b Gregory 13 (Essex 303-7)
Middle stump out the ground!
Lewis Gregory bowls the perfect yorker to Jamie Porter and the nightwatchman is on his way.
It's a fifth wicket for the Somerset seamer who has 5-63. Porter did his job by taking Essex into the lead.
Somerset 301 v Essex 303-6
A ball from Lewis Gregory goes through Jamie Porter, through the keeper and down to the boundary.
Essex are now ahead on first innings and will be champions if this game ends in a draw. Still a long way to go obviously.
Porter 13, Wheater 10
Craig Overton is having no luck out there.
The big Somerset seamer keeps going past the bat without reward.
Essex are just two behind Somerset's first-innings 301.
Porter 12, Wheater 10
Lewis Gregory oversteps mid-over and concedes a no ball.
Two more runs chalked off Somerset's lead, but the rest of the over passes with Adam Wheater defending confidently.
Time for the first hand-sanitising break of the day.
Porter 12, Wheater 10
Shot Jamie Porter!
The Essex dressing room enjoyed that off drive from their nightwatchman as he beautifully times a ball from Craig Overton for four down to the Compton Stand boundary.
He's into double figures now and Essex just five runs behind.
Porter 8 , Wheater 10
Jamie Porter continues to stand firm for Essex seeing off five Lewis Gregory dot balls before dabbing the last ball of the over down off his back foot into the vacant gully region for a single.
Essex just nine runs behind now.

There's nothing wrong with the pitch, it's almost too good. It's very good for the morale if you're the batting side.
If we do go the full distance both today and tomorrow on the final day, it doesn't look like the weather will change that much throughout.
In fact, it's very similar to what we had on Friday.
More bright sunshine, but some strong winds and a definite chill in the air.

Porter 7, Wheater 10
Two very crucial boundaries for Adam Wheater in successive balls off Craig Overton take the deficit down to just 10 for Essex.
Somerset have not had the radar switched on so far this morning.
Porter 7, Wheater 2
Another profitable over for Essex courtesy of four more leg-byes and a couple of singles. Lewis Gregory appeals for leg before against Jamie Porter but it was drifting down.
Six from the over.
