    Armitage 26, Kalis 13

Northern Diamonds are content to accumulate in the latest Paige Scholfield over, until Sterre Kalis slices the final delivery to third man for four. It was uppish but there was no-one stationed in the slips.

  2. Diamonds 68-1published at 13th over

    Armitage 25, Kalis 8

What that out? Hollie Armitage is lured down the pitch by Charlotte Taylor, fails to make contact and Carla Rudd whips off the bails.

It's a near thing, but TV replays suggest Armitage managed to get a spike or two back behind the line in time.

Three added to the Diamonds score in the over.

  3. 6 runs

    Diamonds 65-1published at 12th over

    Armitage 23, Kalis 7

Southern Vipers continue to ring the changes as Paige Scholfield takes up the attack.

  4. Diamonds 58-1published at 11th over

    Armitage 17, Kalis 6

Southern Vipers passed 50 in the 13th over of their innings - so Northern Diamonds are ahead of the game in that regard as Sterre Kalis cuts Charlotte Taylor's opening delivery for four.

She is fortunate two balls later as an attempt to repeat the stroke sees a thin edge go through the gloves of keeper Carla Rudd.

Hollie Armitage steps down the track to the final ball of the over and hammers past mid-off for four,.

  5. Diamonds 49-1published at 10th over

    Armitage 13, Kalis 1

Maia Bouchier needs to tighten up her line as she gives away three wides down the leg-side. When she finds the right line, she keeps Hollie Armitage tied down.

  6. Diamonds 46-1published at 9th over

    Armitage 13, Kalis 1

Lauren Bell continues and is only inches away from a caught and bowled as Hollie Armitage fails to get on top of an off-drive. A wide follows and a single to Armitage, but it's a tidy over.

  7. Diamonds 42-1 - target 232published at 8th over

    Armitage 12, Kalis 0

A lofted boundary by Hollie Armitage ends the over for Northern Diamonds - they need someone to anchor the innings like Georgia Adams did for the Vipers earlier in the day. She could be that person.

    WICKETpublished at 7.2 overs

    Winfield-Hill c Windsor b Bouchier 20 (Diamonds 36-1)

A bowling change by Southern Vipers and Maia Bouchier needs only two deliveries to separate the Diamonds openers.

Lauren Winfield-Hill plays at a wide one and only succeeds in chipping an easy catch to Rachel Windsor at cover. The Engand opener isn't happy with herself.

Sterre Kalis is the new Diamonds batter.

  9. Diamonds 36-0published at 7th over

    Winfield-Hill 20, Armitage 8

Lauren Winfield-Hill collects two with a flick to fine leg and is then gifted free runs as a throw by Maia Bouchier ricochets off the stumps at the bowler's end and runs away for two overthrows.

Vipers coach Charlotte Edwards, wrapped up in a coat, has a stern expression as her side strive for a first breakthrough.

Lauren Bell strays from a good line as four leg-byes are added to the Diamonds total.

  10. Diamonds 26-0published at 6th over

    Winfield-Hill 15, Armitage 8

Maia Bouchier is doing her bit in the field for Southern Vipers - another fine stop prevents Lauren Winfield-Hill finding the cover boundary.

Winfield-Hill's placement is better later in the over and the ball flies past Bouchier's left hand for four,.

  11. Diamonds 18-0published at 5th over

    Winfield-Hill 9, Armitage 7

Lauren Bell strikes Lauren Winfield-Hill on the pad and appeals - but the umpire says it is missing leg stump.

    Winfield-Hill 4, Armitage 7

  13. Diamonds 11-0published at 3rd over

    Winfield-Hill 3, Armitage 6

Hollie Armitage drives with authority but a sprawling save by Maia Bouchier restricts her to a single.

Opening partner Lauren Winfield-Hill began the competition with 72 for Northern Diamonds, and she will want another decent score here after being freed from the England 'bubble' for this final.

She has no scope for expansive strokeplay as Lauren Bell is right on target for the rest of the over.

  14. Diamonds 9-0published at 2nd over

    Winfield-Hill 2, Armitage 5

Left-armer Tara Norris bustles in from the other end - she took 12 wickets in the group stage of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.

Southern Vipers 231 v Northern Diamonds - yet to bat

    Sterre KalisImage source, Rex Features

It's fair to say that Dutch international Sterre Kalis went from one extreme to the other during the Northern Diamonds progress to the final.

Three successive ducks - innings lasting a grand total of seven deliveries - would leave most batters feeling shaken AND 'Sterred' - unlike James Bond's vodka martinis.

But the 21-year-old is clearly made of 'Sterrener' stuff as she bounced back with two successive half-centuries.

An innings of 87 against Central Sparks was followed by a match-winning 55 not out against Thunder in their final group game - and hers could be a key wicket later on if Southern Vipers are to lift the trophy.
