A great start from England. No signs of deteroriation from this pitch. No signs of spin.

Patrick Brennan: Despite his numbers I am just not sure Malan is the man for a T20 tournament in UAE where the scores will be sky high. Simply takes too long to get going and if he gets out early he wastes quite a few balls.

Look Jason Roy up in the dictionary and you'll see this - a six muscled down the ground.

While these two are in England have a chance.

That was a decent short ball but Jonny Bairstow managed to get on top of it. That will calm the nerves and get him off and running.

    Target 233

Crazy scenes as Rizwan is convinced Bairstow has edged the ball, throws it up but the umpire says no. Jason Roy even cheekily steals a single.

Shaheen bangs the final ball in and Bairstow gets enough on a pull for four, much-needed runs.

Shaheen was in all sorts of gymnastics shapes there. He had to bend a long way and he was all contorted.

This was a great catch. They're never easy a low caught-and-bowled chance. He went with two hands but ended up taking it in one hand.

    Malan c&b Shaheen 1 (Eng 12-1)

Oh wow! Sensational from Shaheen Afridi. Malan clunks one - the ball is not timed at all - and the big fast bowler drops down to pluck the ball up one-handed off the turf. Brilliant.

Malan goes for one from six which was not what England needed by any means.
