Anderson needs just 19 more for 1,000 first-class wickets. Would he be the last ever bowler to reach that mark?

I think Sri Lanka will be quietly delighted that they have got a score to put some pressure on England.

It's snowing! The worst kind of weather, admittedly, so I'm going to look at the pictures of sunny Galle and ignore the view out of my window.

Good effort, that, from Sri Lanka. I wonder what their spinners will be able to extract from this pitch...

Alex Cunningham: This could be good practice for India... needing to score 600 in the first innings to be in the driving seat.

It is the first time in a Test at Galle that seamers have taken all 10 wickets. It is the first time it's happened in Sri Lanka since 1994, when Pakistan did it to the hosts.

Jimmy Anderson leads England off. His cheese on toast making is a disgrace (one for the Tailenders listeners there) but he is a genius with the ball.

    6-40 for England's greatest.

It was one of those wickets where no-one celebrated whatsoever. That was a good, low catch, but there was no reaction.

    D Perera c Leach b Curran 67 (SL 381 all out)

All over. Finally, the last wicket falls with Dilruwan Perera clobbering a bouncer to deep square leg. Jack Leach takes another excellent catch, this time low to his right on the run.

Perera has played a very good hand. Sri Lanka will be happy.

  16. SL 381-9published at 139.2 overs

Perera now smashes a low full toss from Curran down the ground for four. Curran swipes the sweat from his brow.

    England need a rethink.

Tom Huffinley: Poor captaincy by Root this. He’s got a touch of the Tim Paine’s allowing such an easy single off of the last ball

This is becoming annoying for England. Sri Lanka have been able to farm the strike. Everyone is waiting for that pitch to start misbehaving.

  19. SL 377-9published at 139 overs

    D Perera 63, A Fernando 0

This is all very predictable from England. Dilruwan Perera blocks out Wood, who is blowing himself out, for five balls and them takes a single on the final ball to keep the strike.

Root didn't even bring the field up and the number eight could just knock a single into the deep.

    Dreadful cricket, for me.
