  2. 'It was exactly the same game plan' - Bairstowpublished at 16:30 GMT 26 March 2021

Man of the match Jonny Bairstow: "It was disappointing to miss out in the last match but delighted to get over the line in this one. It was exactly the same in the last game, we were ahead of the run-rate. It was exactly the same game plan."

On this relationship with Jason Roy: "It think it's natural, today I faced about eight balls in the first eight overs while Jason went all guns blazing. Last time it was me who got runs. The relation we've got at the top of the order is great, long may it continue."

A little nudge to England's critics after the first game from Jos Buttler there.

They're not going to stop attacking no matter what the equation is.

  5. Important we continue to commit to our brand - Buttlerpublished at 16:27 GMT 26 March 2021

England captain Jos Buttler: "Delighted with the response from the guys. I thought we put in a very good bowling performance as well to restrict India to that total. I am delighted we continued to commit to the fashion we want to play our cricket.

"It was a fantastic opening partnership again. They have been a pillar of our strength for a long period of time. They have been outstanding. I am delighted for Jonny to get three figures today. That was a top knock. The partnership with Ben Stokes was thrilling to watch."

On the partnership between Stokes and Bairstow: "It was brilliant as a fellow player and fan to watch the fashion they play. Some people talked about our way [after first ODI] and do we need to be smarter. Of course we want to be smart at times but we want to commit to the fashion we do play and the brand that has served so well for so long. It is very important we continue to commit to that when the conditions are suitable."

  6. 'They gave us nothing at all during that partnership' - Kohlipublished at 16:21 GMT 26 March 2021

India captain Virat Kohli: "I thought we batted brilliantly well tonight. We didn't execute some of the things we wanted. That was some of the most amazing batting you'll see.

"When all the best teams line up against each other, one is going to come out on top convincingly. They gave us nothing at all during that partnership.

"We lost wickets early on, KL got a big score. I'm really happy for him. I'm very pleased with all these young guys stepping up and doing their jobs in difficult situations. Tonight wasn't our night and it sets up a nice decider."

You could argue that was England’s best-ever batting performance in an ODI in India. But don’t forget the Graham Gooch-inspired World Cup semi-final win in 1987.

England all-rounder Ben Stokes: "We didn't stray from our values as a team. A great chase, and happy to get over the line quite easily especially as India set a challenging total.

"Over the years we've set big totals, we've chased big totals, we don't really fear them. We always encourage our players to take the positive option. We expressed ourselves as we always do.

"We match-up players in the dressing room, when the spinners came on that was my match-up to take them on."

An excellent run chase from England, set up by the top three. Bairstow and Stokes especially were outstanding. Little mini-wobble towards the end but good to see Liam Livingstone come in and get himself some red ink on debut - he'll take confidence from that. And we have a decider on Sunday.

There are laughs and smiles on the England bench. They made England fans panic for a moment or two when those three quick wickets fell but that's an awesome batting performance.

Jonny Bairstow hit 124 from 112 balls and Ben Stokes a brutal 99 from 52 balls.

    That's why they're world champions.
