    Gloucestershire 172-3 (target 348) v Leicestershire

This is an excellent partnership for the home side, but with a maximum of 30 overs remaining, surely the target is our of reach?

Iain Cockbain adds two singles from the latest Callum Parkinson over to reach 47 not out, and Tom Lace is on 56 at the other end.

They have now added 120 in 36 and a bit overs.

Worcestershire 106-2 (following on) v Essex

After 18 dot balls faced, Gareth Roderick is under way with two runs off Simon Harmer.

Essex have conjured up one or two remarkable wins in the past few seasons, but doing so here looks beyond them.

    Worcestershire are now 89 behind.

    Gloucestershire 153-3 - target 348 v Leicestershire

A quick single on the off-side and Tom Lace has his sixth first-class half-century.

It's been a patient knock from the 22-year-old, with his 50 coming off 119 balls with five fours.

It also brings up the 150 for Gloucestershire. The hosts are slowing the game down right now.

Worcestershire 105-1 (following on) v Essex

What a result! Now just two County Championship games remain.

Although I'm certain the match at New Road will finish in a draw.

Worcestershire trail by 92 runs as they hope to avoid an innings defeat. Essex will need nine wickets in one session to win.

Jake Libby has looked in superb with the bat for the Pears. He's currently unbeaten on 42 from 91. Tom Fell has 35 not out.

    Yorkshire 206 & 247 v Northamptonshire 234 & 218

Steve Patterson and Wayne ParnellImage source, Rex Features

Cometh the hour, cometh the man - and today that man is Yorkshire captain Steve Patterson.

He finds just enough movement off the seam to find the edge of the bat and Jonny Tattersall does the rest as Wayne Parnell is caught behind for 33..

It is only the second time that Yorkshire have won a Championship game by one run - the first against Middlesex in 1976.

Northants have never previously lost by one run - they were beaten by two runs by Essex and Warwickshire in 1959 and 1970 respectively.

  12. Postpublished at 15:45 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Northants 218-9 (target 220) v Yorkshire

What happened there? Steve Patterson digs one in, Ben Sanderson plays an ugly defensive stroke. He makes no contact and they scamper a bye.

  13. Tea at Bristolpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Gloucestershire 132-3 - target 348 v Leicestershire

A largely uneventful session comes to an end. Unfortunately I think Gloucestershire are playing for a draw.

The run rate is just 2.93 per over.

  14. Postpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Northants 217-=9 (target 220) v Yorkshire

Steve Patterson over-pitches but Wayne Parnell can only find the fielder on the cover boundary. He decides not to run. The next one is pushed away to point and the South African takes one this time.

  15. Postpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Northants 216-9 (target 220) v Yorkshire

Ben Sanderson drives and sets off for a single as the cover fielder makes the stop. Wayne Parnell wisely sends him back to ensure he will be on strike for the next over. Exciting, eh?

  16. Postpublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Northants 216-9 (target 220) v Yorkshire

Duanne Olivier gives Wayne Parnell some width and he slashes away down to third man for a vital boundary.

A single to backward point follows, leaving two deliveries for Ben Sanderson to face with four needed for victory.

  17. Postpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Northants 211-9 (target 220) v Yorkshire

Ben Sanderson sees out the over, getting solidly in behind Steve Patterson's final two deliveries. No black clouds overhead now, so it looks like this game is going to be done and dusted very soon.

  18. Postpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Northants 211-9 (target 220) v Yorkshire

Wayne Parnell tucks Steve Patterson's fourth delivery away off his hope for a single. Two balls left for Ben Sanderson to face in the over.

  19. Postpublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Northants 210-9 (target 220) v Yorkshire

A show of confidence by Northants number 11 by Ben Sanderson, who drives Duanne Olivier away for four runs. He is almost half-way to matching his first-class career batting average of 8.50.

Northants need 10 more to win - Wayne Parnell will face Steve Patterson at the other end.

  20. Postpublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Gloucestershire 116-3 - target 348 v Leicestershire

Lewis Hill comes into the attack for the first time this game for Leicestershire.

He concedes a boundary off his second ball but the rest of his over is tight and asks a couple of questions of the two set batsman.

Tom Lace is on 31 not out off 91 and Ian Cockbain is unbeaten on 26 from 81. It's been a slow afternoon session.
