    Somerset 191-6 (target 207) v Middlesex

Thankfully, the rain delay at Taunton was a short one.

The teams are back out in the middle and Somerset add three singles from Luke Hollman's opening over of the innings.

    Just 16 more needed now.

    Berg c Tattersall b Willey 16 (Northants 234 & 178-8 v Yorkshire 206 & 247)

After the disappointment of seeing Wayne Parnell dropped, Yorkshire strike in the next over as Gareth Berg edges David Willey to the keeper.

Willey now as 3-26 against his former club and Simon Kerrigan is the new batsman. Which team has the stronger nerve?

Lancashire are doing this in singles. Only 10 away now.

Let-off for Parnellpublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Northants 176-7 (target 220) v Yorkshire

    How costly will that be?

Wayne Parnell edges a ball from Steve Patterson to slip but the chance goes a-begging.

Parnell remains on 17 not out and Northants still need another 44 runs.

  5. Postpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

Worcestershire 11-0 (following on) v Essex

A boundary for Jake Libby following the re-start at New Road.

It's not a convincing one, though, as he appears to change his mind and the ball slides away down to third man.

Australian paceman Peter Siddle puts his hands on his head. If this had been an Ashes Test, there might have been a 'few choice words' there.

Ben Mike has two from his first three overs, clean-bowling James Bracey who falls for a dogged 20.

Gloucestershire's big three are gone. Advantage Leicestershire.

    Northants 176-7 (target 220) v Yorkshire

Wayne Parnell and Gareth Berg collect a single each off Steve Patterson before Berg plays out a maiden from David Willey.

  8. Rain delay at Tauntonpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Somerset 188-6 (target 207) v Middlesex

Frustration for Somerset p[layers and supporters alike as rain holds up the start of the afternoon session against Middlesex.

The home side need only 19 more runs for what would be their third win in four Championship games this season.

Durham enjoyed a great day on Saturday as they defeated Warwickshire by an innings on 127 - which gave skipper Scott Borthwick something to celebrate after missing his sister's wedding on day two of the game.

"She didn’t actually tell me until the other day," Borthwick told BBC Radio Newcastle. "Maybe she didn’t plan on inviting me because she knew I had a game!"

He added: "To get that first win [of the season] is nice. The boys deserved it, we played amazing cricket over the last few days.

"We need to stay humble and grounded and if we keep playing the way we’re playing, hopefully we can make winning into a habit."

  12. Roach reaps reward for hard workpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

Kemar Roach enjoyed one of the best days of his career on Saturday as he took 8-40 to lead Surrey to a crushing innings win over Hampshire.

It gave the Barbadian career-best match figures of 10-80 and he was understandably elated by his success

"Hampshire are a team who've done well so far this season so we knew we would have to play well, and to bowl them out again cheaply was just another big step forward for us," he told BBC Radio London.

"I've put a lot of work in the two games before this without a lot of reward in tough conditions, so to come here and take 10 wickets in the match is a fantastic feeling."

  13. Jennings steers Lancs towards winpublished at 13:28 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Sussex 328 & 154 v Lancashire 230 & 228-5 - lunch

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Lancashire reached lunch needing just 25 to win, and record a third Championship win of the season.

Keaton Jennings has faced 172 balls for his 83 not out, and has steered Lancashire towards their victory target with help from a quickfire 46 from Josh Bohannan.

Sussex have never given up, and Jack Carson - with three wickets - has again been the pick of the bowling, but they will rue not capitalising on their first innings lead of 98

  15. Somerset hold steady after early setbackspublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Somerset 188-6 (target 207) v Middlesex

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Somerset

An unbroken partnership of 65 between Steven Davies and the young Cornishman Lewis Goldsworthy has taken Somerset to within touching distance of a second famous comeback win over Middlesex.

Showing a fine technique and composure beyond his years, 20-year-old Goldsworthy played the shot of the match when he hooked a short ball from Steve Finn to the square leg boundary with a crack like a rifle bullet.

With Davies weighing in with some trademark off drives, the pair have gradually worn down the Middlesex seam attack after the early loss of Abell and Bartlett, both lbw to the agelessly excellent Tim Murtagh.

We'll also break for lunch at Hove with Lancashire very nearly there.

Keaton Jennings is the danger man, he's still not out on 83. Steven Croft is also unbeaten, making one off his five deliveries.

  17. Pears face survival battlepublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

Worcestershire 6-0 (following on) v Essex

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

A superb three-wicket burst from Sam Cook on a pitch giving little assistance ensured that Essex were able to enforce the follow-on before lunch with a lead of 197.

Cook, who now has 16 wickets for the season, has become so valuable to Essex that they will be reluctant to rest him for the next match at Trent Bridge even if they would prefer to.

There was a valuable last-wicket stand between Dillon Pennington and Charlie Morris which took up 15 overs. It meant that Essex had only three overs to bowl at the openers before lunch.

Victory for Essex here is the difference between being clear group leaders or fifth place with a draw. Worcestershire should be able to bat out the 64 overs and, if they achieve this, they will be happy with their position, having played Essex twice.

  18. Lunch at Bristolpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Gloucestershire 45-2 (target 348) v Leicestershire

Two wickets for Leicestershire then as James Bracey (15) and Tom Lace (three) survive until the break.

Gloucestershire need 303 to win. I think they'll be playing for the draw though.

  19. Still in balance at Headingleypublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

    Northants 174-7 (target 220) v Yorkshire

A reasonable morning for Northants, who managed to add 80 for the loss of three wickets in their bid for victory at Headingley.

Wayne Parnell is 16 not out at lunch, with Gareth Berg 14, and they have put on 28 since Saif Zaib was caught at slip off Duanne Olivier.

Another 46 still needed by the visitors - while unbeaten Yorkshire need three wickets.

  20. Postpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 2 May 2021

Worcestershire 2-0 (following on) v Essex

No surprise that Worcestershire have been asked to bat again by Essex - having trailed by 197 on first innings.

Is there enough help in the New Road pitch to enable the 2019 champions and 2020 Bob Willis Trophy winners to force a second victory of the season?

Spin may be the way to go and Simon Harmer takes the new ball from one end despite having sent down 49 overs already in the match.
