  • Group Three: Glamorgan v Yorkshire, Sussex v Kent

  1. Postpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 14 May 2021

    Middlesex 100-7 v Hampshire

The flow of wickets continues at Lord's as Mohammad Abbas bowls James Harris for a duck.

Middlesex have now lost three wickets for just nine runs.

  2. 'Rushworth gets his bunny'published at 11:56 British Summer Time 14 May 2021

    Durham 246 v Worcestershire 36-2

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

The Worcestershire opener Daryl Mitchell is now the only member of 'the nine club'. That's how many times Chris Rushworth has got him out following his departure this morning.

He went lbw for five in the sixth over of the day. It's gloomy even with the lights on and, with no sunshine likely until later afternoon, this looks like being another tough day for the batsmen.

A couple of years ago Mitchell wrote a nice piece about Rushworth in the bowler's testimonial brochure. "Too many Jaeger Bombs, under-cooked prawns and Chris Rushworth with a brand new cherry in his hand are the three things which keep me up at night."

Previously a member of 'the eight club', Mitchell at least had a few other people with him in Steven Mullaney, Ben Brown and Sam Robson. But now he's out on his own.

In the morning action so far Jake Libby has reached 1,000 first-class runs for the Pears in only 11 games.

  3. Back on at Lord's... and a wicketpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 14 May 2021

    Middlesex 100-6 v Hampshire

They're back out at Lord's after a period of bad light and Mohammad Abbas has struck with the first ball after the resumption.

He traps Martin Andersson in front for five.

  4. 50 runs

up for Essexpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 14 May 2021

    Essex 54-0 v Derbyshire

Just the start Essex were looking for having lost all that time yesterday.

Alastair Cook has played a gorgeous drive through cover-point as runs have flowed at Chelmsford.

Concern for Derbyshire after winning the toss yesterday.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 14 May 2021

Labuschagne (lbw Coad 10) Glam 34-2 v Yorks

A big blow in Cardiff and Marnus Labuschagne with another failure.

It's clever cricket, wicketkeeper up to the stumps for Ben Coad, forcing the Australian back in his crease.

He's caught by a decent length, struck on the knee roll and sent on his way.

  6. Postpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 14 May 2021

    Sussex 54-2 v Kent 145

It was another batting failure for Kent yesterday, being bombed out for only 145 at Hove.

So Sussex have the chance to take complete control today with a solid day's batting.

A quiet start on the south coast.

  7. Bad light at Lord'spublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 14 May 2021

    Middlesex 100-5 v Hampshire

Ah, well this is annoying. Bad light has forced the players off at Lord's.

  8. Postpublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 14 May 2021

    Glamorgan 12-1 v Yorkshire

An early strike for Yorkshire in Cardiff.

A beautiful full inswinger from Jordan Thompson traps the left-handed Joe Cooke for just 5.

So Marnus Labuschagne at the crease very early.

But David Lloyd has been dropped at the other end, a very very tough chance at fourth slip high above the fieldsman's head.

  9. Postpublished at 11:25 British Summer Time 14 May 2021

    Durham 246 v Worcestershire 22-0

A quiet start for Worcestershire as they build a reply to a modest Durham total yesterday.

The home side added 110 for the final four wickets to give them something to work with but it was still a decent day for the visitors after winning the toss.

They've batted a very long time this season already - particularly Jake Libby who's been in smashing form.

  10. Postpublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 14 May 2021

    Middlesex 91-5 v Hampshire

A nightmare start for Middlesex - and a fourth wicket for Kyle Abbott.

John Simpson's stay at the crease is ended early on the second morning, pinned in front by Abbott to leave the hosts 91-5 at Lord's.

Soon after Nick Gubbins almost offers up a caught-and-bowled chance for Abbott too, but he can't quite get down to it quickly enough.

  11. Essex under pressurepublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 14 May 2021

    Essex 12-0 v Derbyshire

It hasn't been the start to the season Essex were hoping for.

That tremendous turnaround against Durham preceded defeats at Edgbaston and a humbling by an innings at Trent Bridge.

But they remain very much in touch for a top-two finish but do need to pick up the second half of the group stage.

  12. Yorkshire to fieldpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 14 May 2021

    Glamorgan 0-0 v Yorkshire

Pleased to see it's cleared up in Cardiff and Yorkshire are fielding having won the toss.

A real test for Glamorgan, who have enjoyed a decent start to the season.

It included having much the better of the drawn return fixture at Headingley in the opening round.

  14. Delayed start at Tauntonpublished at 10:57 British Summer Time 14 May 2021

    Somerset v Surrey

While the forecast looks much brighter in the West Country, the sheer volume of rain yesterday means we're in for a delayed start at Taunton.

  15. Today's weatherpublished at 10:55 British Summer Time 14 May 2021

We should hopefully be in for a better day in terms of the weather today, albeit not perfect...

  16. Archer takes two on Sussex returnpublished at 10:53 British Summer Time 14 May 2021

One man who wasn't to be stopped by the weather was Jofra Archer, who bowled 13 overs - and took two wickets, including England team-mate Zak Crawley - on his return from injury.

Kent were skittled for just 145, with Sussex reaching 51-2 in reply at stumps.

Elsewhere, Alex Lees fell for an agonising 99 in Durham's 246 all out against Worcestershire. The Pears closed on 6-0 having negotiated three overs late in the day.

And, after the first two sessions were lost to rain, Hampshire reduced Middlesex to 90-4 at Lord's, with Kyle Abbott taking 3-21.

  17. Welcome backpublished at 10:52 British Summer Time 14 May 2021

Good morning and a warm welcome to our coverage of the second day of six County Championship matches.

Poor weather across the UK meant we only had play in three games yesterday, with the opening days at Chelmsford, Taunton and Cardiff completely lost to rain.

Let's hope for better luck today.
